What are the names and titles of the Holy Spirit? ISSUE NO 4 VOL 2 MAY 2019

Pray more, speak less!

VISION ROMANS 15:20-21 20 Accordingly I set a goal to preach the gospel, not where Christ’s name was already known, so that I would not build on another man’s foundation; 21 but [instead I would act on this goal] as it is written [in Scripture], “They who had no news of Him shall see, And they who have not heard [of Him] shall understand.”

MISSION 1 CORINTHIANS 1:17 17 For Christ did not send me [as an apostle] to baptize, but [commissioned and empowered me] to preach the good news [of salvation]—not with clever and eloquent speech [as an orator], so that the cross of Christ would not be [b]made ineffective [deprived of its saving power].

EDITOR'S NOTE Your majesty CHILD OF GOD! ARE YOU DOING YOU’RE BEST? So this month I was studying the books of Timothy. The Topic I’d like to say a few thoughts on , is the last chapter : 2 Timothy 4:6-8 Good News Translation (GNT) 6 As for me, the hour has come for me to be sacrificed; the time is here for me to leave this life. 7 I have done my best in the race, I have run the full distance, and I have kept the faith.[a] 8 And now there is waiting for me the victory prize of being put right with God, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on that Day—and not only to me, but to all those who wait with love for him to appear. You cannot read the Word of God and not introspect. I introspected and asked myself if with the gifts and talents that the Lord Jesus Christ has given me to manage am I giving my best. Can I now in this period of my life say the words that Apostle Paul said with confidence that: “he has done his best and not only has that but also ran the full distance”. Am I even close to uttering these words? And to be honest, No, I’m not. And one needs to do something about that, because I know for sure that I do not want to be standing on Judgement day in front of my Lord and having to account for not giving my best and running the full distance. So beloved I ask you, are you doing your best in the race and running towards the full distance. Honesty is crucial in order to fix the wrongs. I say let’s run forward and with this verse in mind and give our best as an act of worship. Because once we pass this life there won’t be time to give our best, the time is NOW! Who’s with me? Forward ever and backwards never. Write me your comments and thoughts to our email: beautyandthegospel@gmail.com it might just be printed If you happen to be a new reader, WELCOME ABOARD BELOVED. That’s it for now till month, you’re loved by Him and I.

Monthly Devotion I’ve come across books that were written in the 90’s by Radio Pulpit titled “Bread upon the waters”. They are books written so we could have a daily devotion. What’s so amazing about these books is the fact that till this day they are so informative and relevant more than ever. In this one is based on the book of 1 Timothy with the heading: WRONG MOTIVES! Read 1 Timothy 6:3-5 Unfortunately, many people have the wrong motives for worship. According to Paul some people are interested in arguments and quarrels or think godliness is a way to make money. This is not true worship. This problem is centuries old and also very valid for today! Not all of the people involved in worship take part to bring honour to God or preach the gospel. Some practise religion to further their own ends in business and politics etc. This is worship in a small “w”. Worship with a capital “W” is serving God with pure motives. It is not for my own gain but for the extension of God’s Kingdom. As Christians we must ensure that our motives are pure and we also need to thoroughly test the motives of others who come to us in the Name of Jesus Christ. We need to find out whether they are concerned about God or their own interests.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, please help me to be able to discern between right and wrong motives.

WHAT ARE THE NAMES AND TITLES OF THE HOLY SPIRIT? by: Charles Ryrie--

Answer: The Holy Spirit is known by many names and titles, most of which denote some function or aspect of His ministry. Below are some of the names and descriptions the Bible uses for the Holy Spirit: Author of Scripture: (2 Peter 1:21; 2 Timothy 3:16) The Bible is inspired, literally “God-breathed,” by the Holy Spirit, the third Person of the Trinity. The Spirit moved the authors of all 66 books to record exactly what He breathed into their hearts and minds. As a ship is moved through the water by wind in its sails, so the biblical writers were borne along by the Spirit’s impulse. Comforter / Counselor / Advocate:(Isaiah 11:2; John 14:16; 15:26; 16:7) All three words are translations of the Greek parakletos, from which we get “Paraclete,” another name for the Spirit. When Jesus went away, His disciples were greatly distressed because they had lost His comforting presence. But He promised to send the Spirit to comfort, console, and guide those who belong to Christ. The Spirit also “bears witness” with our spirits that we belong to Him and thereby assures us of salvation. Convicter of Sin: (John 16:7-11) The Spirit applies the truths of God to men’s own minds in order to convince them by fair and sufficient arguments that they are sinners. He does this through the conviction in our hearts that we are not worthy to stand before a holy God, that we need His righteousness, and that judgment is certain and will come to all men one day. Those who deny these truths rebel against the conviction of the Spirit.

Deposit / Seal / Earnest: (2 Corinthians 1:22; 5:5; Ephesians 1:13-14) The Holy Spirit is God’s seal on His people, His claim on us as His very own. The gift of the Spirit to believers is a down payment on our heavenly inheritance, which Christ has promised us and secured for us at the cross. It is because the Spirit has sealed us that we are assured of our salvation. No one can break the seal of God. Guide: (John 16:13) Just as the Spirit guided the writers of Scripture to record truth, so does He promise to guide believers to know and understand that truth. God’s truth is “foolishness” to the world, because it is “spiritually discerned” (1 Corinthians 2:14). Those who belong to Christ have the indwelling Spirit who guides us into all we need to know in regard to spiritual matters. Those who do not belong to Christ have no “interpreter” to guide them to know and understand God’s Word. Indweller of Believers: (Romans 8:9-11; Ephesians 2:21-22; 1 Corinthians 6:19) The Holy Spirit resides in the hearts of God’s people, and that indwelling is the distinguishing characteristic of the regenerated person. From within believers, He directs, guides, comforts, and influences us, as well as producing in us the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). He provides the intimate connection between God and His children. All true believers in Christ have the Spirit residing in their hearts.

Intercessor: (Romans 8:26) One of the most encouraging and comforting aspects of the Holy Spirit is His ministry of intercession on behalf of those He inhabits. Because we often don’t know what or how to pray when we approach God, the Spirit intercedes and prays for us. He intercedes for us “with wordless groans,” so that when we are oppressed and overwhelmed by trials and the cares of life, He comes alongside to lend assistance as He sustains us before the throne of grace.

Spirit of Life: (Romans 8:2) The phrase “Spirit of life” means the Holy Spirit is the one who produces or gives life, not that He initiates salvation, but rather that He imparts newness of life. When we receive eternal life through Christ, the Spirit provides the spiritual food that is the sustenance of the spiritual life. Here again, we see the triune God at work. We are saved by the Father through the work of the Son, and that salvation is sustained by the Holy Spirit.

Revealer / Spirit of Truth: (John 14:17; 16:13; 1 Corinthians 2:12-16) Jesus promised that, after the resurrection, the Holy Spirit would come to “guide you into all truth.” Because of the Spirit in our hearts, we are able to understand truth, especially in spiritual matters, in a way that non-Christians cannot. In fact, the truth the Spirit reveals to us is “foolishness” to them, and they cannot understand it. But we have the mind of Christ in the Person of His Spirit within us.

Teacher: (John 14:26; 1 Corinthians 2:13) Jesus promised that the Spirit would teach His disciples “all things” and bring to their remembrance the things He said while He was with them. The writers of the New Testament were moved by the Spirit to remember and understand the instructions Jesus gave for the building and organizing of the Church, the doctrines regarding Himself, the directives for holy living, and the revelation of things to come.

Spirit of God / the Lord / Christ:(Matthew 3:16; 2 Corinthians 3:17; 1 Peter 1:11) These names remind us that the Spirit of God is indeed part of the triune godhead and that He is just as much God as the Father and the Son. He is first revealed to us at the creation, when He was “hovering over the waters,” denoting His part in creation, along with that of Jesus who “made all things” (John 1:1-3). We see this same Trinity of God again at Jesus’ baptism, when the Spirit descends on Jesus and the voice of the Father is heard.

Witness: (Romans 8:16; Hebrews 2:4; 10:15) The Spirit is called “witness” because He verifies and testifies to the fact that we are children of God, that Jesus and the disciples who performed miracles were sent by God, and that the books of the Bible are divinely inspired. Further, by giving the gifts of the Spirit to believers, He witnesses to us and the world that we belong to God.

We are honored to feature a young Pastor of our time . Sharing with us the true and undiluted Word of God about the POWER OF PRAYER. WE WELCOME PASTOR NTSAKO BALOYI.

Luke:11:1 “And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said to him, Lord, teach us how to pray…” Acts:3:1 “Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer…” Matthew 21:22 “And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive” Jesus travelled to different cities and villages with His disciples. He was with them when He opens the eyes of the blind man, they saw His changing water to wine,

Lazarus was raised from dead in their presence and He multiplied bread and fish to feed thousands, the disciples even took home leftovers. This to mention few of the miracles Jesus performed in His ministry and the disciples were always watching Him. All was because of the power of prayer, Jesus could pray 40 days and nights, and the disciples discovered this secret. In the above scripture (Luke 11:1) one of His disciples said to Him, Lord, teach us how to PRAY. Understanding that prayer is the only thing that yielded to those miracles, prayer is the source of life.

Many would’ve ask Jesus to teach them how to work miracles, how to prophesy and many other things, but we need the understanding as believers that we need to live a prayerful life for us to express those miracles. As much as we preach, prophesy and work miracles, we still need to learn how to pray. As a preacher, or whatever you serve God with, have a secret place of prayer. There’s a Tsonga hymn called “Exihundleni xa mikhongelo”, there’s a verse that says Holy Spirit teach me how to pray and to get used to it. .

We need the Holy Spirit to pray, we must constantly ask Him to teach us how to pray. Miracles happen when we pray, the Bible says in Acts 3:1 that John and Peter went to the temple in and hour of PRAYER, the lame man was healed during the hour of prayer.

Prayer mustn’t be a duty, but a life style. When we pray, miracles are bound to happen. Seek first the Kingdom of God (in prayer) and the rest shall be added. We don’t only prayer when the church declare a prayer week, but we do it continuously in our own secret places (pray without ceasing, 1Thess 5:17).

There is a miracle during the hour of prayer, some of the miracle will happen when we take a decision to pray. What we believe God for, need us to stand and pray. Jesus our Master could prophesy, do miracles, but He had a time where he left His disciples and go to the place of prayer.

The Bible says anything that we ask in PRAYER we shall receive it (Matt 21:22). You can ask all you want, but there is a right place to ask, the place of PRAYER. A place of prayer is the place of power, victory, miracles and supply of all that we need. Dedicate your life to prayer, have a fellowship with God.

In conclusion, Jesus said, pray so you don’t fall into temptations. Empower yourself through prayer to overcome any temptation. When you prayer, you speak to God and He speak back to you. Ask the Holy Spirit to teach you how to pray in the will of God….

sue boldt BY EMPRESS TEEKAY Who is SUE personally and professionally and where are you from? Hi there! I am a lover of the Lord Jesus and have served with my husband as a senior pastor for over 35 years. We have three married children, who all love the Lord as well, and we have seven grandchildren. For the past twenty years, the Lord opened doors for me to have a marketplace ministry and I have spent the past decade working in Administration of a large hospital, here in California, where I was given much favour and opportunity to lead a Bible Study, share my faith, and pray for other staff members and hospital patients.

I recently retired from that position and with my husband, we have retired as church pastors to pursue the other open doors the Lord has given us. I speak often for women’s retreats and events, facilitate an emotional healing ministry called Steps to Breakthrough, my husband and I give marriage conferences, do much counselling and mentoring of young Christian leaders, and minister with Youth With a Mission (YWAM) in Asia twice a year. I also have several selfpublished books and discipleship materials, as well as, lead Bible studies on Facebook and Instagram.

Who does SUE say, THE SON OF MAN IS? Lord Jesus described Himself often as the Son of Man (Luke 5:24) and as the Son of God. Jesus, fully God: co-equal, co-divine, co-eternal, coexistent with the Holy Spirit and the Father, came as a man to pay the penalty of our sin on the cross and to show us how to walk in the power of the Holy Spirit. When I say the name Jesus what comes to mind? Oh! Lord Jesus is my Savior, King, Friend, Healer, Deliverer. He is the love of my life!

You’ve served in the ministry for over 30 years. Share with us - How the journey started - What major challenges have you faced - Did you ever think you would be a pastor let alone a pastors wife and lead a ministry - What do you wish you were told as a Pastor and Pastors wife - Can anyone be a pastors wife - What misconception you’d like to address when it comes to ministry - Lately what have you learned My journey in serving the Lord started in my teens when I surrendered my life to Christ and I received the overflow of the Holy Spirit. I knew immediately that I wanted to serve the Lord in any way possible. I soon met my husband, Randy, and together, we both sensed a call from God to be pastors/Bible teachers. So, for me...I knew in my late teens that I was gifted as a pastor and ministry leader. Now, that role has expanded and the Lord has opened doors for me to mentor many younger men and women in pastoral ministry and as missionaries.

I think the biggest challenges in ministry are not addressing the issues in our own lives. So often, those in ministry want to see people set free to be all that the Lord has called them to be, yet first, we need as much or more freedom! As ministers we often neglect our own strongholds and bondages and we need to allow the Holy Spirit to bring healing and deliverance to our sousl – because if we don’t acknowledge that we have these hurts and wounds, ministry will always be a challenge, especially when those we are sharing with reject, hurt, or disagree with us.

Any ministry is about people! But people, are broken and hurting. Our enemy, the devil, can use others to touch the broken and hurting places in us. However, he has little to no power to do this when the love of Jesus is invited to speak His truth to the lies we might believe about ourselves that the enemy has whispered to us over the years through our past hurts. And when the grip of bondage, strongholds, and unhealthy behaviors are broken in our lives by King Jesus.

EXCLUSIVE WITH sue boldt For me, I have found that my alone time with the Lord for my own personal relationship is EVERYTHING. In ministry, the emphasis can switch to serving others, to the neglect of our own love relationship with Jesus: cultivating His felt presence in our lives daily and letting His Word speak deeply to us every time we open it. Honestly, I realize that this sounds selfish and counter-intuitive, but I’ve made being alone with the Lord and not getting up without sensing the Holy Spirit the priority of my life. I don’t make this my time to bring a list of prayers, I am simply seeking Him as King David wrote in Psalm 27:4. Since choosing to live in His presence, I have not suffered any burn-out, ministry overflows (people want what I have!), the gifts and fruit of the Spirit abound, and I have not failed to know what His will for me is.

Believe me, I am not perfect in this, neither am I a perfect Christian, but what a difference this has made in my personal life, the life of my entire family, and my ministry! I believe anyone can be a pastor’s wife. However, there has to be complete agreement within the married couple for what the wife senses God’s calling for her life is. It may be to be very much seen and heard...or not. She must feel the freedom to live out her own particular call and support the call of God on her husband. That means not living up to anyone elses expectations, but only the expectation that the Lord has placed upon her life.

In the midst of ministry, you deeply suffered from an eating disorder, uncontrollable fantasy thought life and finally depression. What could you say led to this, especially the first two? What led to these two very tormenting issues in my life was very much what I have shared about not letting Jesus deal with the hurts and wounds of my childhood and adolescence. I didn’t realize that situations that took place in my youth that wounded me could erupt much like a volcano does when the earth is under stress and weaknesses in the soil – think circumstances in our lives – trigger reactions and responses that are not godly. In my early twenties, when challenges came from raising small children at the same time as trying to be a pastor/pastor’s wife, the weaknesses in my heart and mind (my soul) were vulnerable to the enemy’s lies and strongholds.

You boldly speak about how King Jesus demolished these two strongholds, which brought restoration and healing. Tell us more about this process? I genuinely and truly needed a deliverance from the devil’s grip in my life! This wasn’t a big ordeal, however. The Name of Jesus is allpowerful and when I realized that I had allowed the enemy a place to oppress me in my thoughts and emotions (Ephesians 4:27) I simply broke the agreement with the demonic oppression in these areas and renounced the work of the enemy in the Lord’s Name and in the power of His Word (Luke 10:1820). I also asked the Holy Spirit to reveal what lies I was believing about God and myself (John 8:44) and I broke my agreements with those lies. The next part of freedom, after the bondages were broken, was the ‘walking out’ of what had just transpired. That definitely was challenging! I had lived so long in the habit of a destructive eating disorder and thought-life, that I needed a total transformation – the Holy Spirit causing my life to reveal the freedom had already experienced. The Lord gave me Psalm 144:1. He told me to come to Him daily to receive His ‘battle-plan’ for that day in how I should eat and do life. Day by day, I came – though certainly there were some days I didn’t! Still, Jesus slowy, but surely walked me out of those two bondages. My quiet times alone with Him created such a fresh love for Him and sensing His presence through the Holy Spirit has brought joy I never thought possible. I learned how to not receive negative thoughts and I had the freedom to do so! Before that, I didn’t even have the power to say ‘no’ until I broke my agreement with the enemy’s lies about myself in Jesus’ Name.

What WORDS OF TRUTH, can you share to someone going through the same or other strongholds? I would encourage anyone going through personal struggles to not ever give up on the Lord and to seek as much Chirstian help as is possible. Much of my experience was just between the Lord and I, but He now uses me to help teach and to pray for freedom for countless others. I would encourage everybody that the Lord Jesus is All-Powerful – He is bigger than our sin and bondage and He is able to set any captive free! (Luke 4:18). Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to you any areas of your life where you might be believing lies about yourself or God and begin to renounce the lies in Jesus’ Name as they are revealed. (Psalm 139:23-24). Next, invite the Lord to speak His truth to you to replace the lies. What does He say about you? (John 8:31-32) You’re currently experiencing the Lord Jesus as a GREAT PHYSICIAN. Tell us more about that? Ten years ago, I was diagnosed with incurable, terminal adrenal cancer with a 7-month life expectancy. A tumor was removed from my abdomen the size of a soccer ball. However, the Lord spoke to me out of Isaiah 41: 10-13, that He was going to take care of me and I was not to fear anything. And I didn’t!! I far out-lived the diagnosis, nevertheless, the cancer returned two more times. The third time, all of my oncologists and surgeons told me that I was for sure dying and to get my affairs in order. The cancer had returned and it was evident in two diagnostic scans (CT and PET). Still, I sensed the Lord telling me I was going to live! After three hours of surgery (my third), the surgeon told my husband that he had removed parts of my liver, lung, diaphragm, up to one kidney,

and another section of tissue, but the cancer couldn’t be found anywhere!! This took place five years ago and is completely documented by the hospital. I even had the opportunity to pray with one of the nurses to receive the Lord and the testimony of this healing has been profound in thousands of lives. You help men and women know King Jesus intimately. What’s the first testimony that comes to mind regarding this? I think immediately of the many women and men in the churches my husband and I have pastored who came to revel in God’s presence and the power of his Word. What joy to see lives transformed! I have countless stories to tell... But I am reminded of Gary, a man who came to our church immediately from prison (violent drug charges). He gave his life to Christ and slowly developed a deep love for the Lord and His Word. This transformed his entire family, marriage, and personal finances. He and his wife now have their own ministries in these areas of life. Not only that but you travel twice a year with your husband Randy to Asia. Share with us that experience and mostly importantly why Asia? The Lord opened this door to Taiwan about fifteen years ago. A couple who were in our very first pastorate had become missionaries with the organization Youth With a Mission (YWAM) and they had become base-leaders for a thriving segment of the missions group. They invited us to teach at a training school in Taipei for young, short-term missionaries from around the world. We were hooked!!

"OH MY!! I LIVE FOR MY TIME ALONE WITH LORD JESUS! I GET SO EXCITED TO WAKE UP IN THE MORNING TO SEE WHAT HE WILL SAY IN OUR TIME TOGETHER AND WHAT HE WILL DO THROUGH THE DAY." - SUE BOLDT

This opportunity to share God’s Word, power, and life with younger people from all over the world drastically changed how we began to pastor at home. We began to see the need to genuinely pour our lives into the next generations in any way possible. Oh my, we have only been to Taiwan in all of Asia, but we are hoping the Lord will open the door next year for us to travel to other nations as well (including South Africa!). Still, we love Taiwan and the beautiful nation it is: the scenery, people, food, and most of all sharing Lord Jesus there. On your website you share daily a MORINING MOMENTS PRAYER. Clearly this inquires devotion and passion. What inspires you daily for the different prayers and how much prep goes into it? These prayers are spontaneous and I truly sense the Holy Spirit whispering them into my heart! They take little to know prep, just the overflow of what I am experiencing in the Lord and His Word. It just astonishes me how much the Lord uses these prayers to help others improve their quiet times with Jesus, especially in the morning as they head out to a busy day. Oh my!! I live for my time alone with Lord Jesus! I get so excited to wake up in the morning to see what He will say in our time together and what He will do through the day. What joy and yes, happiness! And once, years ago, I went through a mild depression. I am so grateful, and all of my ministry seems to extend from this overflow I experience in my quiet times.

Define purpose and how can one determine their purpose? I think ‘purpose’ is coming to a realization for how God intimately made you and much He loves you and wants to work His love through you to reach others for Him. And I believe we grow in this as we let Him heal the hurts, wounds, and any lies we might be believing about ourselves, just I have previously shared. When these wounds are healed, I believe we get a clearer picture of who Jesus created us to be because the enemy’s “filter of stuff” has been removed. One of the best gifts the Lord has ever given me is to be comfortable in my own skin and actually love myself! Next, I think Romans 12:1-2, holds the key for knowing our purpose and what God’s will is for us. As we let Him renew the way we think – about everything – it is ever so much easier to hear His voice regarding His adventure of us daily and long term. This again is why it is so important to have a quiet time to really hear His voice through His Word and the soft impressions upon our hearts and minds the Holy Spirit gives us that always line up with His Word.

How can people get in touch with you and access your schedule? Monthly Devotion CROWN OF RIGHTEOUSNESS! Read 2 Timothy 4:8 In ancient times the winner of the race had laurel wealth placed around his neck. This is what is meant by the wreath or crown. Paul had assurance that he would receive this crown but he also knew that he would not be the only one to receive it. All who have preserved to the end will receive the victors crown, the crown of righteousness. It is the sign that they did not give up, that they reached the winning line. That is why Paul did not fear or worry about his coming death. He knew he was going to be with the Lord , the righteous Judge. There is a crown of righteousness awaiting each one of us believes in Jesus as Lord and Saviour. We need not fear death. Yes, we all fear the unknown quantities surrounding death but this is not a fear of death itself. The same Lord with whom I spoke during my quiet-time this morning is awaiting me on the other side of the grave. He is not unknown, I know Him as my Lord and Saviour. He is the One who will carry me through the shadow of death and receive me into the joy of Heaven. Perhaps we spend too little time considering the joy that awaits us after death. Let’s live so that we can face death without fear.

Prayer: Thank You, Lord, that You are waiting for me once I pass through the valley of death.

HOW THE APOSTLES DIED.

n

1. Matthew Suffered martyrdom in Ethiopia, Killed by a sword wound. 2. Mark Died in Alexandria, Egypt , after being dragged by Horses through the streets until he was dead. 3. Luke Was hanged in Greece as a result of his tremendous Preaching to the lost. 4. John Faced martyrdom when he was boiled in huge basin of boiling oil during a wave of persecution In Rome. However, he was miraculously delivered from death. John was then sentenced to the mines on the prison Island of Patmos. He wrote his prophetic Book of Revelation on Patmos . The apostle John was later freed and returned to serve As Bishop of Edessa in modern Turkey . He died as an old man, the only apostle to die peacefully 5. Peter He was crucified upside down on an x-shaped cross. According to church tradition it was because he told his tormentors that he felt unworthy to die In the same way that Jesus Christ had died. 6. James The leader of the church in Jerusalem , was thrown over a hundred feet down from the southeast pinnacle of the Temple when he refused to deny his faith in Christ. When they discovered that he survived the fall, his enemies beat James to death with a fuller's club. * This was the same pinnacle where Satan had taken Jesus during the Temptation*. 7. James the Son of Zebedee, was a fisherman by trade when Jesus Called him to a lifetime of ministry. As a strong leader of the church, James was  beheaded at Jerusalem. The Roman officer who guarded James watched amazed as James defended his faith at his trial. Later, the officer Walked beside James to the place of execution. Overcome by conviction, he declared his new faith to the judge and Knelt beside James to accept beheading as a Christian. 8. Bartholomew Also known as Nathaniel Was a missionary to Asia. He witnessed for our Lord in present day Turkey. Bartholomew was martyred for his preaching in Armenia where he was flayed to death by a whip.

9. Andrew Was crucified on an x-shaped cross in Patras, Greece. After being whipped severely by seven soldiers they tied his body to the cross with cords to prolong his agony. His followers reported that, when he was led toward the cross, Andrew saluted it in these words: 'I have long desired and expected this happy hour. The cross has been consecrated by the body of Christ hanging on it.' He continued to preach to his tormentors For two days until he expired. 10. Thomas Was stabbed with a spear in India during one of his missionary trips to establish the church in the Sub-continent. 11. Jude Was killed with arrows when he refused to deny his faith in Christ. 12. Matthias The apostle chosen to replace the traitor Judas Iscariot, was stoned and then beheaded. 13. Paul Was tortured and then beheaded by the evil Emperor Nero at Rome in A.D. 67. Paul endured a lengthy imprisonment, which allowed him to write his many epistles to the churches he had formed throughout the Roman Empire. These letters, which taught many of the foundational Doctrines of Christianity, form a large portion of the New Testament. Perhaps this is a reminder to us, that our sufferings here are indeed minor compared to the intense persecution and cold cruelty faced by the apostles and disciples during their times For the sake of the Faith. And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: But he that endureth to the end shall be saved. Pass on to encourage other Christians Why Do we feel sleepy in Prayer, But stay awake through a 3 hour movie? Why are we so bored when we read the HOLY BOOK, But find it easy to read other books? Why is it so easy to ignore a message about God, Yet we forward the nasty ones? Why are Prayers getting smaller, But bars and clubs are expanding Why is it so easy to worship a celebrity, But very difficult to engage with God?

If you look at all the four Gospels, you will often find the disciples looked for Jesus, but they couldn’t find Him. He was up the mountain speaking with His Father. First the mountain and then the ministry. Remember, most importantly, a family that prays together stays together. If you have problems in your marriage, pray about it. If you have problems with your children, pray about them. Seek the face of God everyday and He will give you direction. Most of the time, He will tell you to keep quiet and not say anything, because many of us are like a bull in a China shop. DO YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE? (PART 2) WRITTEN BY: M.K

Do you know who you are???

You were bought at a price (1 Peter 1:19). You are important. Do not allow the father of lies (devil) to tell you otherwise. The Precious Blood of Jesus Christ had to redeem you and cleanse you from all sin. This is the most expensive Blood you were worth. Adopted by God (John 1:12). As many as received Him, them He gave the power to be called children of God. We are made joint heirs with King Jesus our Lord (Romans 8:17). We are children of God’s Kingdom and His family. We are made powerful through Jesus (Luke 24:49). The Holy Spirit gives us power to stand against every arrow thrown at us by the evil one. God knew us before we were formed and made in secret. He already had our lives planned out in Jeremiah 1:5

.

His plan for our lives and future are not to harm us, He plans to prosper us and gives us hope. Jeremiah 29:11. WHAT A FATHER! We are fearfully and wonderfully made by God Himself. Psalms 139:13-16. God chose our bodies to dwell in. He does not live in houses or temples made by man. We are the temple of the Holy Spirit (2 Corinthians 6:16). Let’s give ourselves totally to Him and allow Him to be the Landlord of our lives. We are destined for His Glory in the highest places where King Jesus is seated at the right hand of the Father (Colossians 1:5). We are foreigners in this world. We are not here to stay. He is our Protector (Jeremiah 1:19). We are not alone and will never be vulnerable as we are protected by the King of kings. The greatest promise we are given is in Hebrews 13:5 and Deuteronomy 31:6 , where the Lord says He will not leave nor forsake us. He is the best companion who promises to be with us forever. Let’s hold on to His Word which is true and everlasting. Heaven and earth shall pass away but His Word remains forever and ever and ever and ever! AMEN.

The Battle in Your MIND

• Resource by: Rick Warren

Five Levels of Learning Let me overview quickly what I call “the five levels of learning.” This is the pedagogy of discipleship that I have used for thirty years. It’s a major reason why our church has been able to bring so many people in the front door and send so many out the back door on ministry and mission. I believe you can judge the health of a church not by its seating capacity but by its sending capacity. You don’t judge the health of an army by how many soldiers sit in the mess hall and eat every week and listen to your Bible study. You judge the health of an army by how many are on frontlines doing battle in the world. We want to be able to bring them in, build them up, train them forward, and send them do so, we must be able to teach people not only to love the Word but also to do the Word (James 1:22–25). Here are what I call “the five levels of learning”: 1) Knowledge 2) Perspective (Wisdom) 3) Conviction 4) Character 5) Skill The first two have to do with knowing. The second two have to do with being. And the third one has to do with doing. You can use these as a template for all of your discipleship — moving people from “come and see” to “come and die.” 1) Knowledge First, we need to learn knowledge. God says in Hosea 4:6, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” When we don’t know the Word of God, we can be destroyed. And we need to know not only the Bible but also church history. That’s why our church features each week on the back of the bulletin a figure from history, just a little bio.

Also, we have a theological word of the week on the back of our bulletin because we want the people to know theological words and the great saints of church history. That’s part of knowledge. Sadly, you can learn the Bible without really knowing it; in other words, you can know all the facts without really knowing the content. You don’t really know something until you apply it. That’s why Jesus implies to the Pharisees that their problem isn’t that they don’t know Scripture but that they don’t know the power of God (Mark 12:24). Think about what a rebuke that was to the Pharisees who had memorized the Pentateuch — Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy. They had memorized it, yet Jesus says that their problem is that they don’t know the Scripture. They needed to teach others their knowledge, teach others to love knowledge, and get rid of antiintellectualism. (By the way, we need great Christian intellectuals today more than ever before — people a lot brighter than I! — who battle on the intellectual level against the many competing worldviews.) 2) Perspective (Wisdom) The second thing we need is perspective. The Bible calls this perspective “wisdom.” Wisdom is found in seeing life from God’s viewpoint. It is seeing from God’s perspective. Knowledge is knowing what God does; building block above it. Some churches are great at Bible knowledge but fail to teach their people perspective. They don’t teach wisdom. I love this paraphrase of Isaiah 55:8 in The Message: God says, “I don’t think the way you think. The way you work isn’t the way I work.” Obviously that’s true! Psalm 103:7 says that the Lord “made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel” (KJV). God revealed his acts. The children of Israel saw the miracles. They saw the Red Sea split. They saw the water at Marah. They saw the doves and the manna and much more. They saw the acts of God. But Moses knew the ways of God. He knew why God had done those things. They had knowledge, but Moses also had perspective. In knowledge, the goal is to know the Word of God; but in perspective, the goal is to have the mind of God as much as possible. So we want to develop for ourselves, and to help others develop, the mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:14–16; Philippians 2:5– 11).

3) Conviction The third thing we need is conviction. Conviction is the third building block, as these build on each other. We pursue knowledge of the Word, then perspective on why God does what he does, and, in doing so, we start to develop convictions. What is God’s perspective on temptation? What is God’s perspective on evil? What is God’s perspective on our past, our present, and our future? What is God’s perspective on sin? What is God’s perspective on Satan? Once we start getting perspective, we begin developing convictions. Conviction is not opinion. Opinion is something you argue about; conviction is something you die for. And what we need today as much as ever are men and women of godly, biblical convictions. If you know hardly anything about history, you can still know that the people who have had the greatest impact on our world for good or evil were not the smartest, not those who had the most knowledge, not the wealthiest, not the most talented, but those who have had the deepest convictions for right or wrong. And, of course, it is Jesus who has made the most impact, and it is Jesus who had the deepest convictions of all. If you want to know how much Jesus loves you, look at the cross. With arms outstretched and nail-pierced hands, Jesus says that the cross is how much he and his Father love us. “God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). “I love you so much it hurts,” he says. “I love you so much that every drop of blood falling to the ground says, ‘I love you.’” That’s conviction. Paul talks in 1 Corinthians 7 about being settled in our own minds, which means having godly convictions. And in Hebrews 11:1, faith is said to be “the conviction of things not seen.” Let me give you some examples. ~ “[Nothing] . . . will be able to separate us from the love of God” (Romans 8:39). That’s conviction. It’s not an opinion; it’s a conviction. ~ “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers” (Romans 8:28–29). That’s a conviction, not an opinion.

It is more blessed to give than to receive” (Acts 20:35). That’s a conviction. ~ “I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day” (2 Timothy 1:12 KJV). That’s a conviction. We need men and women of conviction. ~ And there is this great conviction: “Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him” (Job 13:15 KJV). I don’t have to understand it, Job says, but I’m going to trust God no matter what. In conviction we want the heart of God. We don’t want only to see what God sees but also to feel what God feels — about the world, about the lost, about his Word, about his church. We need to learn knowledge. Then we need to add to that God’s perspective. But then we need to add to the convictions that come out of knowing the mind of God. 4) Character Once we begin to develop convictions, we start developing habits — and the sum total of our habits is what we can call “character.” We cannot say that we have the character of honesty unless we are habitually. honest. We cannot say we have the character of kindness unless we are habitually kind. Character is the sum total of our habits. If I were to say to my wife, “Honey, I’ll be faithful to you twenty-nine days of the month,” she knows, and I know, that partial faithfulness is unfaithfulness. It is only faithfulness if it is my habit to always be faithful to her. You develop character by developing the habits of love and joy and peace and patience — those nine qualities from Galatians 5 — kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, and selfcontrol (verses 22–23). What are these fruit of the Spirit? They are a perfect picture of the character of Christ. If we want to become like Jesus, then we must seek the fruit of the Spirit in our lives. The goal is to become more like God in our character, not to become gods. We never will become God — no matter how much fruit we produce. We will never be mini-gods. We are not God. That’s the oldest lie in the book, that we “will be like God”.

Monthly Devotion ON MY ACCOUNT! Read Philemon 17-19 Paul went much further than the average modern-day Christian would go. He really got involved with his fellow-man. Onesimus was a deserter. He had deserted his owner and gone to Paul. Paul led Him to the Lord but didn’t stop with his spiritual wellbeing; he also got involved with his immediate problem. He asked Philemon to “welcome him as you would welcome me. If he has done anything wrong or owes you anything, charge it to me” (vv 17b, 18). Paul was willing to put his own finances on the line for the runaway slave. He knew Onesimus was not in a position to pay for anything because he was a slave so Paul put it to his own account. Jesus took our place when we were unable to compensate for our sin. Only it cost Him much more. Jesus paid with His life. Every Christian is called upon to give more than just spiritual food. I must put my purse at the disposal of my fellow- Christian. It is not easy but must be done. Jesus gave His all for us and He expects us to give our all for Him. Prayer: Heavenly Father, please help me to be available to my fellow-man.

WORDS BROUGHT TO LIFE TOUR WE GOT THE OPPORTUNITY TO CHAT WITH SOUTH AFRICA'S TALENTED CHRISTIAN POETS. AS THE BIBLE SAYS: THERE ARE DIFFERENT WAYS OF SERVING , BUT THE SAME LORD IS SERVED! 1 CORINTHIANS 12;5 TALK ABOUT LIVING FOR GOD AND STILL BEING DOPE!

How did the idea about doing the spoken word church tour come about and when? - First of all, I never really perceived myself as an event organiser or a visionary because I only saw myself as merely a spoken word artist which was limiting to my potential and what i could do because of how small my thinking was. It's only recently after having a conversation with my Pastor that I realized the potential He saw in me that i didn't see in myself. I then had to be patient and listen to the leading of the Holy Spirit because as much as there's so much potential and purpose He's birthed inside of me, it would be unwise to do things outside of His timing. The year 2018 was when everything was conceptualized leading up to the implementation of the tour in 2019. How was the selection of churches made? - Through established relationships. I've been privileged enough to meet and connect with a lot of people from different churches and so it was very simple communicating with them. The Words Brought To Life team members as well as our online social media interactions also contributed by way of referrals, requests and suggestions.

You've visited 3 churches so far, share with us the experience - Oh my goodness where do I begin? Our first stop is definitely a memorable one for me, Particularly because there was an alter call! The fact that we were instrumental in gathering people together in one place so that some may receive Christ, means everything to me. It further highlighted the reason why we even do this - for souls, and this has been a consistent theme even for our second and third stop. The feedback we've received thus far is really overwhelming! And its for this reason that we approach the rest of our stops with excitement! On this tour you are working with 4 poets, how were they selected and how has it been working with them? - I always knew that God was at work in orchestrating our encounters with people. With Him Nothing is ever a coincidence, even when it comes to a simple meet and greet and that's how I got to know some of the poets. I legit prayed to God to have these amazing people part of the team. This was my prayer; "Father lead me to the right people with the right hearts", and I'm happy to say that He answered my prayers. Its such a joy doing life with MK, Belle, Rembu and Cris. I couldn't have asked for better!

The tour is titled WORDS BROUGHT TO LIFE, tell us more about that. - Firstly the reason why we could even use our gifts to speak words that produce life is because the Word Himself brought us to Life. We're living in a society filled with people who feel obligated to say something about everything even though it means nothing! If words can destroy people and cause them to stumble, how much more would they build people up if used corretly? James 3:10 reads - "From the same mouth comes blessing and cursing. It should not be like this, my brothers". Then How should it be? Our Words should always be gracious, seasoned with salt and as Christians who love God and happen to be poets, there's no way we could bless God with our words, and then curse those who are made in His likeness. Words Brought to Life is therefore a response to our loving Father who loved us first and has only precious thoughts of us. We're just using poetry as a means to communicate that. Any plans of making it an annual tour and maybe nationally? - Yes definitely, God willingly! By the look of things, it doesn't seem like its going to be once-off. What preparation goes into the church visits? - Well apart from discussing the date and time prior to the visit, the preparation is just in the logistics; Planning our transportation and assessing our availability. What challenges have you faced? - One of the challenges we faced was time; not being able to stick to our planned schedules when it came to dates, times and locations that needed to be confirmed so we could start working on our posters and getting the word out there. That has been by far the most challenging aspect with regards to this tour because it resulted in a lot things being delayed. Surprisingly enough though, The delay was actually a blessing. Certain things needed to be in place which the delay accomodated for. What have you learnt so far, that has amazed you? - I wouldn't say I've learned anything new, but there's one thing that has been more and more consistently emphasised and that is our purpose - the reason why we're here. God never meant for us to be isolated from people and just be satisfied with knowing Him. In viewing the Cross, we see that it has a vertical and horizontal element attached to it which perfectly reflects our purpose and our reason for living. The vertical aspect symbolises our personal relationship with God; Receiving His love and goodness, and the horizontal; sharing the love and goodness we've received. The love of God is reciprocal and our love for Him is revealed in our love for others. If a church sees this now and wants you guys to come through is that possible? - Yes definitely! We're open to any invitations Last words for now for the churches waiting for your arrival? - Come expectant because we believe in God's presence and it being more than enough to transform our hearts, minds and giving us perspective for our everyday lives. SCRIPTURE OF THE MONTH

4 One thing I have asked of the Lord, and that I will seek: That I may dwell in the house of the Lord [in His presence] all the days of my life, To gaze upon the beauty [the delightful loveliness and majestic grandeur] of the Lord And to meditate in His temple. 5 For in the day of trouble He will hide me in His shelter; In the secret place of His tent He will hide me; He will lift me up on a rock.

Pleasing God 4EVER! by: Pastor Bongani Gama Romans 12:1 I. Introduction A. The question that arise is that when one lives their lives who is the focal point of everything I do Colossians 3:17 “whatever you do in word or in deed do all in the name of Christ Jesus….” B. Who do we live for and why we live the way we do C. What does God get out of my life? D. The fact is that God is Holy then we should be Holy too II. God wants us to totally surrender A. God does not fill a cup that is full 1. Mark 8:34 “And He summoned the crowd with His disciples and said to them “if anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me” 2. We need to be rid of everything that will hinder us from giving ourselves to God 3. He does not want to occupy a place that already belongs to something/someone else 4. We need to give ourselves wholeheartedly, we cannot please God if we want to be on two sides at once Revelations 3:15 you are neither Hot or Cold and I will spit you out” 5. The fact is that we cannot do anything for God unless we give ourselves first to Him (the giving, the working etc.)

B. Galatians 2:20 “I have been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me, and the life I live which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me” 1. Paul understood that when he was being baptized he was laying his body on the altar as a sacrifice and because he died in that waters of baptism he does not belong to him 2. Whatever Paul does is not for himself but for the one who saved him from his sins III. Few points to consider A. When we priorities him 1. Matthew 22:37 “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and all your mind and all your soul” 2. Matthew 6:33 “seek first the kingdom of God …………. B. Walk in the spirit not in the flesh pleases God 1. Romans 8:8 “and those who are in the flesh cannot please God” a) As people sometimes, we are tempted to gratify our desires and God says if we are giving in to our fleshly desires we cannot please him b) Paul says in Romans 8:6 “because the mind set on flesh is death and the mind set on the spirit is life and peace”. c) And he says again in Romans 8:7 “because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward GOD, for it does not subject itself to the law of God” d) Pleasing God means trying by all means to get rid of all that makes us hostile to God i. The word hostile indicates that we become enemies to God and his word we become rebellious ii. The only way we can be rid of flesh is to be baptized, but it does not end there, we need to make sure we transform our lives to better suit things that are spiritual listen to what Paul says in Ephesians 4:28 “Let he who steal, steal no more……. iii. It pleases God when we comply with his written will (Bible). C. Walking in the commands and the precepts with love not under compulsion 1. John 14:15 “If Love you will keep you my commands” a) It pleases God when we do things because we love him b) We do not come to service because we are bored c) We give/contribute because we Love God d) We have brotherly love because we love God e) We do all we do because God is the focus of our love and if we do it because of his love

2. When we love God so much that we become workers in the kingdom a) It pleases God when we understand that we were called to be workers like Christ b) Ephesians 2:10 “for we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them” c) Find something to do in the church and do it. God does not tolerate laziness. 3. When we walk according to our calling a) Ephesians 4:1 “therefore I the prisoner of the Lord implore you to walk in the manner worthy of your calling with which you have been called” b) We are called through Christ by God and he expects us to walk/live as people who are respecting, loving and serious about the calling and the person who called us 4. It pleases God when we have deeply rooted faith a) Sometimes we have calamities and distress as part of life, but our faith should not be shaken Hebrews 11:6 “It is impossible to please God without faith …” b) Hebrews 10:38 -39 “now the just shall live by faith, but if anyone draws back My soul has no pleasure in him. But we are not of those who draw back in back to perdition but of those who believe to the saving of the soul” c) We do not back down in terms od the faith we have in God because we have a savior who went through all and he did not lose faith and as long as we have that man in our lives we should not be faint-hearted d) 1 John 4:4 “You are of God, little Children, and have overcome them because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world” e) Whatever we go through does not exceed the power we have in God because when we go through things he always provides a way 1 Corinthians 10:13 “ No temptation has overtaken you except such as common to man but God is faithful who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able to ,but with the temptation will make a way of escape ,that you may be able to bear” f) So, let us true and be faithful no matter what IV. Conclusion A. We might be people of God because one Man laid his life to save us from all our sins but this does not give us license to live reckless lives though.

B. We only have freedom from sin not freedom from God and to do all we want all we do is determined by what he actually stipulates, and it pleases him to know that we comply or we try by all means to comply what Bro Kenny said yesterday “ is that you will not know unless you try and you wont get better unless you try” C. If we can spend time making sure that what we eat is safe for our figures we can try and please God with our lives D. So, when you think of doing something from now on ask yourself “WHO DOES IT PLEASE ME OR GOD”

Monthly Devotion MAN-FEARERS RATHER THAN GOD-FEARERES! Read Jude 16 Perhaps the most amazing thing about these false teachers that Jude talks about which can be observed in our modern versions of the same, is their arrogance in the presence of God. They have no fear to claim a direct line to God for their new doctrines which they claim some directly from the Holy Spirit. They teach downright lies and have the nerve to claim God’s authority for teaching such lies. On the other hand, it is to be observed that they do fear people. They are very concerned what others think about them. They are more concerned with the opinions of people than with the opinion of God. They go to great lengths to persuade people to support them financially; they are not prepared to trust God for such matters. They flatter people for their own advantage. The mark of the true child of God is an awesome respect for Almighty God. God is not trivialised in any way at all. His greatness and power are respected and appreciated. Those who have lost their way do not enjoy God or anything He does. All such people can do is find fault with God. They murmurers and complainers. Nothing God does is right. How can we follow such people? Yet many are led astray by these false teachers. Be on your guard. Watch out for this murmuring arrogance that kowtows to men rather than acknowledges God. Prayer: Lord , guide my steps through this dangerous world.

YOUNG As we celebrate over 10 years of marriage with the Hlatshwayo's

NIAGA NROB &

DEIRRAM

Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate . -Ecclesiastes 4:12

A wedding is a ceremony where two people are united in marriage. Created by God for us. This issue focuses on the POWER COUPLE: MLUNGISI & LINDIWE HLATSHWAYO

1.Who are you individually(personally & professio nally ) Mr Hlatshwayo : “Mlungisi Derrick Hlatshwayo I’m a hard working person, motivated, goal oriented and calm. Dental Technologist. Mrs Hlatshwayo : “ Lindiwe Florah Hlatshwayo I’m goal oriented, self-driven, friendly, patient and I love children, Medical Technologist. 2. How and when did you meet We actually met in a taxi to Germiston (South Africa). I was going to collect my matric results at my school at Dinwiddie High School. I was supposed to give my husband his change but I got short of 10 cent and he insisted that he wants his money in full. We then started chatting and ended up sharing contact numbers. We did not have cell phones at that time, I gave him my home number. We met in March 1998.

3. How long did you date before you got married We dated for 9 years because we were both at the same Tertiary Institution. 4.How did you individually know that He , She was the one? Mr Hlatshwayo” There were so many but the main one that got to me was her character and personality, it was exceptional and out of this world”. Mrs Hlatshwayo” The main thing that caught me was the way he was expressing himself, talking softly and slowly and an unfamiliar accent with a bit of siSwati and his eyes”. 5. When did you get married? We got married on the 14th April 2007. 6.Take us through the process of the wedding cele bration how was that and if there is any changes you could have made?

Our wedding process was very exciting from the beginning. It was a wonderful experience, working together with my husband. We planned everything together and we combined all our suggestions and came up with solutions. The support from our parents was tremendous, our families and extended families were also very supportive. People wanted to show us how happy they were by showering us with gifts and the crowd was full from both the families, the bride's and groom’s. People travelled in numbers from my place in South Africa to Swaziland. What a warm welcome at Swaziland. Everything was well organized People are still talking about it. I wouldn’t change anything, everything was so perfect. 7.Has your relationship changed from dating to ma rriage? I believe it has changed because the commitment we had when dating has grown so much as we are now married and have become one in union with Christ. As the Bible makes an example with the bride, meaning that when you are married, your relationship is blessed by God and the love you have for each other is stronger. 8.If you could change the perception that people have about marriage, what would it be? There is a difference between Christian marriages and non-Christian ones. For us Christians we believe that what God has joined together, no one can separate. When you face the storms of life you know where to run to because God is the Creator of marriage. Another perception from people is that marriage is not enjoyable, you can enjoy your marriage, it’s the decision you both need to take.

9.For the single person out there, wondering when they are getting married ,what advice would you give them? They should put God first in everything they are doing, education is important. Know who you are and have a clear vision of where you are going. 10.How do you deal with problems that you encount er as a married couple? Communication is the key in every situation. Have a strong supporting church structure around you. Support each other as well.

11.Challenges you’re facing as a young, married born again couple? People think that you are perfect and you don’t make mistakes. We are striving for perfection; we are not perfect as Paul says that we should keep on running the race until we get our prize. 12. Things you wish you were told about marriage? Never take major decisions without the knowledge or approval of your spouse. 13.Who is Jesus Christ to you individually and as a couple? Mr Hlatshwayo”Jesus Christ is my personal Savior, He is my Boss. Mrs Hlatshwayo” He is my redeemer, my strength, my Savior. In our marriage, He is our pillar, our foundation and the third person in our lives. 14.One word, if possible to describe your marriage? Grace 15.What advice to those who are in the process of getting married would you give? They should take time and discover who they are, Be spiritually and emotionally matured. Trust God in all things. 16. The best advice ever received? Respect everyone in the world.

BLOGGING 101

BY : EMPRESS TEEKAY

Who are you personally and professionally and where are you from? My name is Monica Theophilus and I am a disciple of Jesus Christ. I was born and raised in Fort Lauderdale Florida. I am a lover of books, so I am always reading. I also love to write, so I am always seen with a journal writing a poem, song or my next blog post. I am the creator and writer for the blog amomentwithmonica.com which is used to encourage others through the word of God. How and when did you become Born Again? I became born again on May 20th, 2016. I was bound by the spirits of lust, fornication, and perversion. I was ashamed and tired of being a lukewarm Christian. I wanted to truly live for Christ and have a personal relationship with Him, not a religious one. On May 20th, 2016 I asked God to help me break things off with my now ex-boyfriend who I had an ungodly soul tie with and my journey of deliverance, healing and being born again began. How and when did you get into blogging? And why Christian Blogging? One day in the car with my church family I expressed my longing to write and share it through a blog, but I wasn’t sure if it was God’s will. A couple of days later one of my friends told me the Lord said it was time to start my blog and also the Lord told Him there was a woman named Lindsey who attended our church and she would be willing to help me. That same week I reached out to Lindsey and we began the process. I chose Christian blogging because I believe in the power of God’s word and using His word to encourage and empower others. I also believe that by sharing my trials and tribulations many would gain victory and breakthrough, knowing they are not alone. What is blogging? Blogging is sharing various forms of information on a website personal or research-based to the public or an exclusive group.

@amomentwithmonica

What inspires your posts and what preparation goes into it? My posts are inspired by my experiences and the revelation I am given by reading the word of God or spending time in His presence. The preparation that goes into my posts is by seeking the face of God and asking Him what should I write next? What can I write or share that will help His people. Once given the answer I type it, find a picture to add and send it to my editor who I am so grateful for and then I publish my post onto my website. What do you want people to learn from your blogs? I want people to learn that God is amazing! And it is imperative to have a personal relationship with Him. Once we put God first everything else falls into place. I want people to understand that the trials and storms we face in this life are not break us but to strengthen us. Other Interests? Besides writing I love to spend my spare time watching K-drama shows with ice cream in one hand and jalapeno chips in the other. What is the secret to authentic, thought-provoking blogging? The secret to authentic thought-provoking blogging is being honest with yourself and your readers and sharing information that will enable others to grow in wisdom and understanding. What makes you different from other Christian bloggers? What makes me different is that I am not afraid to share the gruesome parts of my past, my trials, my experiences and the miracle-working God who has brought me through every single time, so that others can be saved through the power of God. Where would you like to see your blog in the next 2 years? I would like to see my blog reaching many people across the nation. Who is King Jesus to you? King Jesus is my lord and saviour. King Jesus is my hope, my rock, my best friend, my Abba father, my joy and peace. Without Him, life wouldn’t make sense and I would not be here today. Advice on how to start Christian blogging? For those who want to start Christian blogging my advice would be to seek God on what information you would share on your blog. Get a personal journal and take it everywhere with you to write downloads of wisdom that the Lord shares with you. Start thinking about what your domain name would be. Research what platform would work best with you. Platforms like Link tree, Word press, or Wix. Start building a social media press either Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. Lastly, be authentic, be real and be you so that others can connect with you. Wish you the best of luck! Misconception people have about Christian blogging? The misconception that people have about Christian blogging is that it’s boring and sermon-like, but that is far from true. Christian blogging takes a lot more personal experiences/ journal entry like approaches while still sharing the word of God and connecting with their readers which makes it much more personal and interactive. Last words to the Beauty&TheGospel reader? Thank you so very much for reading! I hope you enjoyed.

Monthly Devotion OLDER MEN! Read Titus 2:1-2 This chapter handles Christianity in action. Various groups of people are instructed as how they should act. In the first two verses Paul addresses older men. They were to be temperate. By this Paul meant that they should be moderate in all their actions. They were to be honourable, worthy of respect. They were also to be selfcontrolled. It meant having everything under control. The wisdom of age should have had purifying effect so that their whole life was under control. Three further things were expected of them. They should be: 1. Sound in their faith. Years of service for the Lord makes our faith stronger and we learn to trust more in God. 2. Sound in love. Age sometimes makes people loveless and critical. New things are shunned or rejected. Paul asked the older person to allow room for people with other ideas and viewpoints. 3. Sound in endurance. Age sometimes brings with it a preparedness to continue in the faith, in spite of difficulties. Do not let your commitment wane, endure to the end! Are the older men listening to this message?

Prayer: Lord, please help the older men in the church to live according to Your WORD.
