Costume Design for Theater with Chris Kinslow

NEW! AGES 11-17 Like dressing up? Join professional theater artist Chris Kinslow for a fourweek introduction to the art of costume design. Participants will explore various artistic color palettes, periods, motifs, and styles of costume design culminating in the construction of an original costume. Course will include class discussion, pencil and watercolor drawings, and a trip to the local thrift store for materials and mixed media items to use. Tuesdays, February 7-February 28, 5-7pm • 4 sessions • $75 Residents; $85 Non-Residents

Life Drawing for Teens with Laverne Miers-Bond NEW! AGES 12-17 Draw from live models! Begin with basic proportion and careful observation to achieve likeness and form. Learn skills which address drawing accuracy and explore modern techniques that focus on expressiveness, emotion, and drama through a variety of media and approaches. Tuition includes model's fee. Tuesdays, January 17-February 14, 5-7pm • 5 sessions • $95 Residents; $105 Non-Residents

Teen Wheel-Throwing with Joe Vitek AGES 12-17 This once-a-week class is designed for students who wish to learn the fundamental skills involved with making pottery on the wheel. All the basics from clay preparation, throwing techniques, and glazing will be taught, as well as opportunities for some handbuilding. Learn how to make vases, mugs, bowls, and plates, as well as other forms according to ability and desire. (Clay, use of tools, glazing and firing are included in tuition.) Thursdays, January 26-March 15, 4-6pm • 8 sessions • $120 Residents; $130 Non-Residents

Comic Workshop for Teens with Clinton White AGES 12-17 Using live drawing demonstrations, discover how to draw and design characters in both western and Japanese “manga” comic book styles. Explore techniques for creating engaging characters, costumes and expressions. This workshop includes discussion, demonstration of basic story creation, and page layout. Mondays, January 23-February 27, 5-7pm • 5 sessions No class 2/20 $70 Residents; $80 Non-Residents

Funky Jewelry for Teens

with Kathy Fritz AGES 12-17 Learn the newest rage in jewelry-making and create one- of- a -kind bracelets and earrings using various techniques and material. Some of the featured materials will be chain maille, rubber rings, hand painted acrylic pieces, beaded spheres and recycled items. Needle felting will also be taught in this class. Art Appreciation for Teens

with Amanda Mattos AGES 12-17 Explore art history starting with the pre-historic and ancient art forms and journeying through to modern art. Each week, have fun creating an art project that will incorporate the ideas, styles, and techniques from each genre.
