ก ริยาไม่แท้ (Non-finite Verb) Non-Finite Verbs (กริยาไม่แท้) อันที่จริงเมื่อดูรูปแล้วก็คือกริยาธรรมดานี่เอง แต่ว่าไม่ได้นำามาใช้ทำาหน้าที่เป็นกริยาแท้ (Finite Verb), หรือกริยาสำาคัญ (Principal Verb), หรือกริยาหลัก (Main Verb) ส่วนมากจะทำาหน้าที่ประกอบหรือ ขยาย (Predicate) กริยาแท้ (Finite Verb) มากกว่า Non-Finite Verbs แบ่งออกเป็น 3 ชนิด คือ 1. เป็นรูปของ Infinitive บ้าง ได้แก่ to + Verb ช่อง 1 เช่น to walk, to speak, to read etc. 1.1 Infinitive with to (กริยาช่องที่ 1 ที่ตอ ้ งมี to นำาหน้า) 1.2 Infinitive without to (กริยาช่องที่ 1 ที่ไม่จำาเป็นต้องมี to นำาหน้า 2. เป็นรูของ Gerund บ้างได้แก่ Verb ช่องที่ 1 เติม ing เช่น sleeping, speaking, writing, running etc. 3. เป็นรูปของ Participle บ้างได้แก่ 3.1 Present Participle (คือ Verb ช่องที่ 1 เติม ing) เช่น walking, coming etc. 3.2 Past Participle (Verb ช่องที่ 3) เช่น walked, come, seen etc.
