PROJECT TYPE : Residence. LOCATION : R.S puram,Coimbatore, Tamilnadu, India. CONTRIBUTION : Elevation Design, Floor plans, Structural set. PROJECT BRIEF : Design of a Residence for Two Families in one site. Site area is 7945 sq.ft. This site is designed as two Residences for two brothers families in shifting from rajastan. Both the residences shares a garage which is situated below house 1, from where a staircase leads upto the house 2. Front of the site is used for vegetation to act as a sound buffer. The material used in the front facade is sandstone imported from Rajastan.

01 KINDERGARTEN AND PLAYSCHOOL

PROJECT TYPE : Institutional Design. LOCATION : Kannarpady, Udupi, Karnataka, India. PROJECT BRIEF : Design of a Kindergarten and Playschool block for ST. Marys English Medium school. Site area is 4387 sq.m. ST. Marys English medium school wanted to develop their site frontage into a separate block for Kindergarten and playschool. The Kindergarden is zoned to the east of the site (towards the road) whereas the playschool is zoned to the west. The concept is to create a Domio effect where everything is connected, even for the outdoor play area the frame extends from the main building to protect the children from harsh weather with operable tensile Fabrics. This fabric can be used to cover outdoor play area during rain. The kindergarden is zoned as follows where the staff rooms are at both ends of the building so that it will be convenient for the teachers to monitor students. The principal room is placed in the center of building which can be accessed through the outdoor play area or by using the central courtyard. The play school is placed in back of the site making the academic block as a sound buffer.

FORM DEVELOPMENT

1.

The above block represents the area for the kindergarten

2.

Above block is divided like the dominos creating frames with equal intervals.

3.

The Diagonal part of the cuboid is substracted.

4.

The substracted diagonal parts of the cuboid forms a central corridor connecting the outdoor covered play area and indoor classrooms.

5.

The frames are extended from the main building to form operable sheltered outdoor area .

6.

The frames are shaped into hip roof frames and repeated in equal intervals. Final form.

02 FASHION DESIGN CAMPUS

PROJECT TYPE : Campus Design. LOCATION : Yeyyadi, Mangalore, Karnataka, India. SITE AREA : 20,234 sq.m [5 acres]. The design proposal is for a Fashion Design campus in magalore for 500 students with hostel and mess facilities. The entire structure is made of prefabricated concrete. The concept is to recreate weavage pattern seen in a fabric into a plan, creating columnade common area and pocket gardens. By having a pattern for each floor we will achieve an academic block with open terraces and skywell which will help in creating a better micro climate.

FORM DEVELOPMENT

1.

The Ground floor layout is achieved by taking the wind direction into consideration, which creates a separated blocks throughout the campus with free circulation.

2.

The First floor connects the separated blocks creating open terraces and pocket gardens.

3.

The Second floor creates a vast open foyer in the middle by connecting perimeter of the academic block.

4.

The Third floor is designed in a way to create a skywell which influences the students open space in the ground level.

5.

The highlighted areas are open green terraces for the students to socialize and take a break from their daily schedule. The final model. Fashion Design Campus - Form Development 18


CAFETERIA. Cafeteria is designed for 260 students and is designed as a connecting space to both boys and girls hostels as well as has an entry from academic block too. HOSTELS. The hostel is designed for 220 students. [110 boys and 110 girls].

ACADEMIC BLOCK. Academic block is designed for 500 students of G+3 floors.

PARKING. The parking space consists of 60 four wheeler and 75 two wheeler parking space.

THIRD FLOOR Third floor consists of Master degree studios and their respective labs with an open terraces running through out the academic block.

SECOND FLOOR Secind floor consists if 4th year students with all the workshops and labs which has connecting open terraces.

FIRST FLOOR The First floor consists of 2nd and 3rd year students with a library, staff rooms, cad lab and classrooms. One batch has three classrooms.

GROUND FLOOR In ground floor academic section, administration and HOD offices are placed in first wing whereas remaining wing consists of classrooms and staff room.

SITE STUDY

Jaali placed inorder according to the drawings provided to the site.

Applying cement mortar with spacer tile in between each jaali.

Purpose of the site visit was to give instructions regarding jaali laying and check the progress of the project. Earlier that day jaali was stacked one upon the other without spacers which was one of the reason for this site visit.
