VISUAL DISPLAYS
The case pictured above, was for the AIM Deptartment during the summer months. I was not given any guidelines as to what to put in the case, so I challenged myself to use as many different patterned fabrics as I could.
THIS WAS A DISPLAY CASE I DID TO ADVERTISE A SECOND HAND FABRIC STORE.
THE GARMENTS ARE MADE OF FABRIC THAT HAS BEEN PINNED TO THE DRESS FORM.
THIS WAS A COLLABORATIVE DISPLAY TO ADVERTISE THE AIM DEPT. AT MARS HILL. I MADE THE DRESS USING PINS AND FABRIC..
STUDENT BREAKFAST ASSIGNMENT
LINE ASSIGNMENT
USING CONVENTIONAL OBJECTS UNCONVENTIONALLY
This display window is for a visual campaign that I did about recycling. I wanted to convey the abstract concept that people consume goods, but those goods also consume the people. The garment on the left is a design that I made out of magazines. The garment on the right is made out of bubble wrap and tape; the plastic garment was made by another student. I wanted a really dramatic effect that would stop passerbys because consumerism is a problem when it’s not sustainable.
GARMENT CONSTRUCTION
For this collection, I was inspired by the intricacy of quilting. The work that goes into making the fabric before the actual product is made, is really interesting to me. I remember making a log cabin quilt for an elderly woman with authoritis, and that was my first encounter with quilting. I enjoyed the time consuming pieces that created a bigger picture, so I developed a line around the concept of quilting.
The fabric of this garment was consructed of little squares sewn together. Once the garment was sewn, I began to pull out the theads of the raw edges which creates the effect as pictured below.
The fabric of the skirt was constructed by cutting various fabrics into strips and then sewing the strips together. The skirt is a double circle skirt, so it is two circle skirts in one in order to achieve a more voluminous effect.
The applique on this garment was inspired by modern quilting patterns.

This project required me to create a line of t-shirts for a specific consumer. My target audiece was little boys, but my target consumer was the environmentally friendly parents and grandparents. These shirts are sustainably made by fibers produced from Echo View Fiber Mill.
