Research

Old age can be broken into three stages: primary aging (healthy-aged) , secondary aging (Disabilities-aged) , tertiary aging (the bed-bound aged). Choosing elder people in secondary aging and caregivers like long-care center and hospital as my interview target.

20% Secondary aging

75% Primary aging

Apperence of natural aging, such as gray hair, wrinkles, slower reaction, etc. But still can act freely and healthy.

Interactive effects of illness, bad habits, and infrequent activities, sometimes also need assisitive deivce such as wheelchair, having some inconveniences on living.

5% Tertiary aging

Last stage of life, cannot act freely. The body has been effect by aging and sickness.

Design Process

Brainstorming

According to the targets I interviewed, elderly people get inconveniences and effects from illness . They would not able to act freely because of the body state. This brainstorming shows the issues they may face when they are in secondary aging.

。Spasms of the limbs and weakness of the legs might cause legs dragging on the ground and become danger

。Cushions made of cardboard are usually rough and easy to scratch and hurt Care center

Solutions

The design solutions are based on structure, material and shape

01. The safety belt buckle is used to make it closely and tightly on the wheelchair.

02. PP material is used as the main body to be stability, and TPE, soft material, is covered outside the main body, which makes the products more comfortable.

03. The purpose of Increasing the height and length of the product is to let the shape completely covered without falling.

When storing Betterfly, TPE can be folded along and can be stored in a wheelchair without disassembly.

Research

The best time to let children to learn how to eat by themselves is about the age of 2-4 .

According to the data, two to four years old is a critical period for children to develop good eating habits . At this time, children’s muscles are developing and be able to control finer movements . It is a suitable time to practice holding spoons and chopsticks correctly. As a result, we choose the age of 2-4 children and parents as target audience.

Problems

Being able to eat well is something that every hard parent can’t ask for. So, Magbowl can provide a more enjoyable eating experience .

According to the analysis, in most of the families, the situation of eating is a problem that many children have before the age of six, moreover, it is the first problem on the parent-child upbringing list and also the most troublesome problem.

This project is a work that I was assigned to accomplish when I was an intern in 2019 which was to make the process of eating more smooth and safe, eventually it has become a fully-developed commodity on Flytta’s website now.

Pain Point Analysis

According to the targets I interviewed, There are couples of issues happened when parents feed their children . Besides, there are also some problems regarding current product.

Design Details

Concept

Use the silicone placemat to prevent food and meal splashed and messied the desktop.

After children grow, the bowl can still be used. Also, the placemat can be use for filling sharing food like popcorn...etc.

Adjustable

3 different ankle for user to adjust the slope they need.

Install step

1. Open the cover and take the placemat out of the bowl.

2. Let the placemat in the bottom and put the sucker above absorb on the desk.

3. Put the bowl on the cover and set them firmly.

4. Enjoy your perfect meal!

Bench with window grille shaped 花椅仔

Through the redesign of window grille elements, wish the user recall the common memories in the past when they see it, and hope that people in different generations can come into contact with the architectural element culture that once existed in Taiwan.

Inspired by

Chill-chill

It is an Armchair with a special slide. The chair is inspired by Wall Sofa, a masterpiece by Finland designer- Finn Juhl. Chill-chill inherit the streamline of the shape and the charm of the cotton material.

The shape of the slide let user put their leg above the arm and lay down on the other side of the arm comfortably.

Swing

The chair is inspired by the famous chair in IKEA - POÄNG, a masterpiece by Japanese designer- Noboru Nakamura.

The main concept of Swing is the shape of the arm. Through switching the direction of the arm, the function of the chair changes into an armchair or a rocking chair. Moreover, the forming of Swing is designed in order to fulfill the concept of knockdown furniture.

PAO PAO

Bo Bo Bo, using the characteristics of transparent acrylic to imagine sitting on the bubbles, it is a remarkable memory for me which watching the bubbles floating in the sky when I was a child.

How good would it be to go back when the world was simple and naive? How about sitting on PAO PAO! Close your eyes and imagine the happy time when you watched bubbles chasing it when you were a kid, and let the pressure of reality drift away with the bubbles in the wind!

By exploring the geometric forming of the product, geometrical and extremely simplified modern things, as well as research on form and material, and adding the medium of light, invert the form and visual perception, blur the boundary, make users can rethink and define the appearance of this product and this substance.

Coffee Maker

shape redesign and material to present a coffeemaker

I am a big fan of coffee, I like to explore different kinds of coffee shop and taste the different flavor from diverse methods of brewing coffee no matter weekday or weekend. However, found that most of the shape of filter coffee maker is average and simple.

As a result, I redesign the shape of coffee maker, and try to disassemble the whole components from the coffee maker.
