DESCRIPTION: A 1970 project that Cappellini produced just a few examples of in the 1980’s because of the difficulty in manufacturing it. These pieces are still highly sought after among collectors. TOP QUALITY STRUCTURE: sophisticated laser cutting technology is required in order to ensure that the drawers slide out perfectly. Frame produced from metal sheet and varnished with matt black epoxy powder paint. DRAWERS: constructed according to the best cabinetmaking traditions to emphasise the finest details of the project, such as the perfection of the corners or the way the two sides of the drawers slide out perfectly. The prototypes (in the first version with back) were created for an installation at the National Taiwan Research Institute, sponsored by the Taiwan Government. Nendo’s products are usually black or white: Giulio Cappellini asked the designers to identify the colours that represent them and after a long period of research the three colours Pink, Ecru and Blue were produced. Drop is one of the best examples of the almost immaterial design of Neutra, where the production expertise that goes into the extremely slender structure is fundamental

Die casting is a special permanent foundry process where the molten metal is injected at high pressure into a metallic mould comprising two semi-moulds closed by hydraulic presses. A liquid circulation system inside the die makes it possible to cool the piece which, once solidified, can be removed by opening the hydraulic presses.

STRUCTURE: each side table is made from a laser cut sheet of aluminium. The final form is obtained via a high precision bending die. DESCRIPTION: Series of poufs of different shapes and heights with fixed decorations and colour combinations for each model. FRAME: metal rods COVERS: Fixed, produced through the weaving of coloured yarns onto a supporting structure. The decorations have fixed colour combinations.
The Gimpt designers observed the artisanal techniques used to produce hammocks and baskets in Vietnam: the artisans wind the yarn obtained from the Posidonia around a metal base and the decorative motif is then woven on top in paper yarn. Taking inspiration from this technique the designers then decided to scale the work.
DECORATIONS: with the help of Swedish illustrator Malin Koort, the models in the series were developed with clear Scandinavian influences. • • •

POH designer: R. Navot DESCRIPTION: Conceived as a shape and sculpture in its own right, the functional definition of POH is deliberately absent: it can be used where and how you want.
Patchwork of old and new pieces of natural wood assembled together according to a computer-generated diagram which is sent to a CNC machine that cuts the shape in 3D.
The assembly of the various pieces requires over 120 hours of expert and patient craftsmanship. Each piece is numbered and the number is found on a chrome plate applied to the piece

This lamp is the result of a unique metal processing method that has no equal anywhere in the world. A metal sheet with small holes in it is expanded to form holes of different sizes and the result is reminiscent of a piece of lace. The holes of different sizes have an evocative effect on the lamp light which seems extremely fragile and light.
