Timeline Ningbo Port is one of the oldest ports in China with a histor y of more than 1,000 years. At present, it is also the port with the largest cargo throughput, so it is also the region with the fastest development and transformation of seaport terminals in China. Based on China's national conditions, it has experienced rapid industrial development in the past 30 years. Recently, many problems have gradually been exposed. For example, in the development process, a large number of peasants' territory was deprived, which was used to build factories. In addition, a large number of factories were relocated to the waterfront in the later period of industrialization in China, leaving a certain amount of industry heritage.

Existing Site Plan My test area is on the waterfront of the entrance of Ningbo River. In order to solve the above problems, I will carry out the following design to find the lost landscape fields for the residents, and at the same time use many industry heritages to create new landmarks.

AGGREGATION

Water is an important natural element of a city. In order to make Honglian District a more gathering, vibrant and efficient urban area for citizens, the waterfront block structure needs to be assembled and reorganized to achieve urban revival.

CONNECTION

The reform of waterfront area should follow the principles of mixed-use land, high density and ecological methods. The entire waterfront site will be integrated into an organic whole.

CUSHION

In order to embrace a waterfront with a greener economy, the area needs fresh air, clean water, and a wider greening area. Eventually, the entire community is transformed into a human-friendly area.

Renovation of the industrial estuary area in Ningbo reforms the waterfront area. And integrates the traditional waterfront form and modern waterfront form together. This new port home is mixed with various functional areas to stimulate the community vitality.

By comparing the existing plan with the proposed plan We can see that at sites with a large number of people and complicated transportation systems, we have improved the situation of the original road nodes and adopted various measures. For example, widening existing roads to reduce traffic congestion, increasing vertical levels to divert traffic, and optimizing the degree of green vegetation coverage are more human-friendly. Thinking From the reflection of the outbreak of coronavirus, it reveals many problems in the planning and design of Chinese cities. From the news reports related to the epidemic, I found that the current urban design in China can be reflected on the following two aspects. First, why did the epidemic spread quickly? In addition to policy factors, we should consider the seafood market as a source of good and evil things mixed up, and the proximity to transportation hubs leads to rapid spread. But for urban planning, it reflects the problem that the old functional carriers of the city are not updated or transformed as soon as possible. There are many old urban areas with such old functional carriers in China, where old residential areas and industrial areas are mixed. This further confirms that the old function carriers in the old city have reached the point where they have to be updated. Therefore, I think that the urban renewal of the old urban areas in China will release more space for the city, especially the central area. In addition, it is fully functionally upgraded to meet the needs of urban development. On the other hand, during the lockdown period, due to the lack of commercial facilities around the community, the lack of functions or the inability to deliver materials in time, the quality of life of the community residents declined. For urban planning, this is a problem caused by insufficient planning of the community life circle. It can be seen from the data that at present, the radius of community commercial services in mainland China is 1km to 2km, and the scale is 4,000-20,000 square meters. There is a problem that the radius is generally small. In contrast, Hong Kong's community business center has a service radius of 1km and a scale of 40,000-60,000 square meters. Therefore, the 15min community life circle is very important to the quality of life of residents. The planning of Chinese cities in the future should create self-sufficient, green, healthy and smart communities.

The pier that is originally used for transpor tation and unloading is transformed into a pier for people to relax and enjoy, and you can enjoy the riverside scenery while enjoying the fun.

The road beside Embankment is carfree, and a wide bike lane is set up in the middle to provide a place for local residents to relax and exercise.

The combination of transfers between the modes of transportation and the flow of people, and the integration of public transport and subway through the terminal, improve the convenience and efficiency of transfers.

Broad Vision

The original wharf is mainly provided for local commuters, with a simple structure and practicality. After the new rail transit is completed, the role of the terminal will gradually become smaller, and it will be more suitable to transform it into a riverside site. The following is a transformation from planning and architecture. The first is site planning. A Ring structure is built at the entrance. Increasing the vertical level helps to reduce the traffic pressure on this node and greatly improves the efficiency and quality of life. At the same time, the lateral dimension of the pier is increased to provide a place for yachts and residents to park, rest and sightseeing. The second is the reconstruction of the building level. The original terminal buildings are seriously aging and the appearance is dilapidated. I will change its entrance so that it can have a good diversion effect on people. The second is the riverside, increasing its angle of view, making this node a good sightseeing spot.

The building is a typical form of traditional local architectural style. It used to be a residence of a family. But now it's too small to adapt to the new environment. As a result, two new parts are built to connect them with more space.

Phase II: New Honglian Estate An aerial walkway extends from the old industrial area across the expressway.A community centre, greenery and landscape facilities are spaced on each side.The open space will provide residents and citizens with an open green space to gather.

Strategy

A barrier between inland and shore

The inner hinterland was originally blocked by the river, which greatly wasted the landscape resource of waterfront. Therefore, I took the approach of breaking down barriers, and at the same time used the original industrial heritage chimney to build a sightseeing flyover to solve the problem of blocking the view of the sea embankment with a certain height, and at the same time, it could provide residents with good sightseeing trails.
