From our launch of the world's first truly lightweight outdoor boot, to itss e evolution into our V-Lite build philosophy, Hi-Tec has always been passionate drivers of innovation. The reaction from both the trade and end d consumer towards this ground breaking technology has been simply stunning.. ALEXANDRE POUSSIN GLOBAL EXPLORER

HI-TEC is proud to announce a truly remarkable signing to their Outdoor footwear team! When Alexandre and Sonia Poussin embarked on their adventurous walk of the length of Africa entirely on foot, from the Cape of Good Hope to the Sea of Galilee, they did it alone – well almost. In a three-year trek along the Great Rift Valley of East Africa, their goal was to symbolically retrace the passage of early Man, from Australopithecus to Modern Man. Without sponsors, without support team, sharing the poverty of their hosts, they spoke of the generosity and enthusiasm of these men and women who populate the African continent. Three years, eleven countries, 1,200 families, 14,000 kilometers of adventures whilst walking in the footsteps of mankind through Africa’s ‘Cradle of Life’. Day after day, Alexandre and Sonia became a bit more African themselves. Alexandre says, “My exciting relationship with HI-TEC came about totally by chance through a personal recommendation and inevitably our HI-TEC footwear proved to be the backbone and core strength of our incredible, epic journey. When you cover 60,000 steps a day, comfort, cushioning and lightness is extremely important. HI-TEC proved to be the perfect match! All products featuring this description are waterproof. Typical product here would be hiking boots or leather golf shoes traditionally designed to prevent water ingress. Ion-maskTM enhances the surface of materials in this product and by selecting materials that have a natural resistance to water or that have a very dense structure, such as leather, we ensure that water does not penetrate.

Event® waterproof technology provides maximum comfort for activity in harsh environments and keeps footwear DRY INSIDE™ by venting perspiration vapour through millions of unimpeded microscopic pores engineered into a durable waterproof membrane. Other breathable fabrics function by an indirect and slow process of absorption and evaporation. They contain a solid barrier of polyurethane that inhibits the passage of perspiration vapour. Only EventT® technology offers Direct Venting™. There are microscopic vents engineered into the fabric, which allow unhindered passage of perspiration vapour. This avoids the moisture retention and breathability inhibiting effects of polyurethane, and noticeably reduces the uncomfortable build up of moisture in the microclimate between the body and the Event® membrane. Other waterproof fabrics contain a solid barrier that slows the passage of perspiration. Event® membrane contains millions of microscopic vents.

Ion-MaskTM Hydrophobic (HPi) Ion maskTM is a process that can treat any shoe but it is important to note that it is not just a waterproof technology, it is a water management technology. Shoes engineered as ion-maskTM (HPi) have all the benefits of the ion-maskTM process but are not designed to be waterproof. Instead of trying to keep water out, they welcome water! Typical product here would be sandals or trail running shoes with open mesh materials which become much improved after the process.

HPi shoes will be quicker drying because they absorb less water, they will also remain lighter as a result and stay clean longer than conventional untreated equivalent models.

The backbone of Tec-Proof constuction is the philosophy of allowing the materials to do their respective jobs. With Tec-Proof, only the seams of the upper are sealed with waterproof cement. All threads used on such product are also waterproof threads which do not wick moisture. Meshes are waterproofed with a membrane backer. However, the waterproof leather is allowed to breathe, which increases the moisture vapour permeability of the entire shoe. This process essentially ensures that the upper is truly waterproof, breathable, and durable. Hi-Tec has perfected this technology and is able to deliver this waterproof product with performance and value, ensuring that a wide range of consumers can have a great experience in the Outdoors and stay dry.
