GUCC I: T h e S eqU el

We bang on about Gucci a lot at Look, even debating giving the word ‘Gucci’ ‘Voldemort status’ a few weeks back so often do we drop the double G. Then Milan Fashion Week happened and, FASH BANG WALLOP, Gucci is all we can talk about. Again. Gucci’s creative director Alessandro Michele had big boots to fill for his SS17 show. Namely, his own – for never before has one person dictated so many global trends at one time. High street to celeb, fashion editor to Insta-feed – if it’s ruffled, cuffed or encrusted, it’s Gucci. If it’s a horsebit loafer? GUCCI. But the best bit? Gucci: The Sequel isn’t all that far removed from Gucci now. Meaning anything you buy this very second will see you sashaying smugly into SS17, too. Do update your look with the new motif (pine cone). Treat yourself to the loafers (at last). Sling on a pair of sequin leggings! A corsage! A beret! Then slap your thigh and call yourself Disco Nan! Because Gucci’s Gucciest show yet has future-proofed all of our wardrobes, freeing us from any retail remorse for the foreseeable (and making fashion real fun). o n T h e C oV e R . . . Thanks, Gucci. And by that, we 11 shoP ThE fRow mean, thank you, high street, for following suit… 30 BRANgELINA sPLIT: ThE LATEsT @GillyFerg 36 sJP: ‘I ALwAYs TRY To BE TRUE To MYsELf’ asos £45 79 ThIs dIsh wILL gET YoU LAId! 82 fREE ELEMIs fAcIAL gUccI goALs foR EVERY REAdER

Things To Take Away From LFW

It was the week that saw supermodels, street stylers and selfies galore descend on our capital. And we took our FROW-side position very seriously, dedicated as we are to bringing you the hottest happenings from the runway and beyond…

1

T h e S h ow :

Burberry

Look Editor @ G i L Ly F E r G ‘I have a confession. I cried during the Burberry September show. I didn’t cry watching The Notebook, or when Brangelina split, nor at my own wedding. Yet I cried while Burberry’s Christopher Bailey worked his fash magic during LFW. Whether it was the soundtrack (by

8

composer Ilan Eshkeri), the location (Makers House, Soho) or the fact it was the most covetable collection I had ever laid eyes on… I cried. For me, this was quite simply Burberry’s best show to date. A love letter to English history, customers could live-shop silk pyjama suits, cavalry Jackets and ruffles galore. I felt like I was watching a BBC period drama in real time. Pushing the “See Now, Buy Now” shopping experience further than any brand has dared before, Burberry excelled themselves. While I blubbed.’ lookmag

The Insta Hit:

No, really. As one of the most universally despised shoes on the planet, it would take a very brave designer to decide to pair them with almost every look. But Christopher Kane doesn’t have a faint heart, so he embellished his Crocs with crystals and made the FROW gasp.

Temperley’s Dress

This season we split our time largely between Brewer Street car park in Soho and East London’s Spitalfields Market, so it was a good job we had our army of personalised Hyundai wheels to shuttle us between locations.

Temperley London’s catwalk was one of the prettiest in town, with the designer herself describing it as ‘a 24-hour Temperley tribe.’ But there was one dress in particular that became a social media sensation thanks to its intricate embroidery on spun-sugar-light organza. We’d happily wear the above for 24 hours. lookmag

Ain’t no party like a LFW Topshop party, but there was one major change this season: the clothes were instantly shoppable via a strategically placed pop-up. Eighties influences prevailed with super-high waists and prim chiffon blouses offset by sexy slit skirts and silky slip dresses. Most of the collection is AW16 and is available RN; the rest is Pre-Summer 2017, dropping around November. Once again, Topshop’s blazing a trail and where they go, we’ll follow…

A new season is upon us and we’re welcoming it with open arms because, as the darker nights set in, it gives us the perfect excuse to go off-the-grid and spend a little more time at home. Tapping into the Scandi trend that’s sweeping the interiors scene, Matalan’s seriously upped its game with affordable sheepskin cushions, cosy throws and ambience- inducing tealight holders. Cuddle Bag Comeback

No, you haven’t been teleported back to 2006; hobo bags are back, only this time they’re cool and cuddly

Loewe, Gucci, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Ralph Lauren… the list of designers who resurrected the style for AW16 goes on. And thanks to JW Anderson, it’s huge for SS17 too…

No one wants to call it a hobo bag – we like to think it was meant to be boho but a typo occurred. Either way, its origins are mysterious. And that’s sexy.

M

aybe it’s the change in weather or perhaps it’s the grown-up equivalent of going back to school. Or, most likely, it’s our insatiable sartorial appetite. Regardless, there’s just something about this time of year (read: the entire autumnal season) that has us psychologically programmed to shop. That’s what we’re telling ourselves anyway. And what item says ‘I got this’ better than a cult bag? None, that’s what. Handy that, as the #throwback hobo bag has hit the big time 2006 again – and it’s not hard to see why…

Roomy enough for your laptop, personal phone, work phone, make-up bag, a Mars bar and gym kit, it’s the most sensible bag of all time. The rounded shape makes it super-cuddly (hence the name). We haven’t wanted to hold something so close to our bodies since David Beckham. Speaking of the Beckhams, Posh needs an honourable mention for her lifetime dedication to the hobo bag…

Makes Us Shop Thought you had control over your shopping decisions? Think again. There’s a psychology to shopping that might surprise you…

E

words: HannaH Banks-walker @HlBw

ver been wistfully perusing the delicious new haul on offer at your favourite store only to discover the most amazing skirt/shoes/dress tucked away around a corner? Well, not to burst your bubble or anything, but you were probably meant to find it. Your shopping habits may seem special to you, but we’re all psychologically programmed to behave in a certain way when we’re anywhere near a cash register and our favourite shopping haunts know it and exploit it. But how?

weird, we know, but when you think about it, most of the good stuff does seem to be positioned on that side of the store. Create A Path Shops put eye-catching displays at the ends of aisles, creating paths for us to walk down and controlling the direction in which we shop. Slow It Down Ever come across ‘surprise finds’ on top of ‘random’ plinths, or bought six pairs of socks at the checkout you didn’t need? You’ve fallen into the hands of the savvy shop gods. Those in the know call these distractions ‘speed bumps’ as they slow us down and make us buy more stuff. Hit The Checkout! Phew! You’ve reached the safety of the checkout. Before treating yourself to that thing you most definitely deserve, there’s more – for who wants to miss out on those dream buys on the right-hand side? But next time we shop, we might hit the left side for kicks. You might just find your sartorial soul mate.

At B r a Split Angelina took control last week, blindsiding husband Brad and calling him an ‘unfit’ parent. *Mind explodes*

ies, jealousy, heated arguments, angst, betrayal… Unfortunately this isn’t the tagline of a hot new Hollywood film, but instead the unfolding and recently exposed secrets behind the marriage of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, which came crashing down when Ange filed for divorce on 20 September – just one month after their second wedding anniversary. What has ensued is a murky, dark portrayal of a relationship filled with drama, all behind the façade of the happiest of family lives. Angelina, 41, cited ‘irreconcilable differences’ on the divorce papers, filed by infamous divorce lawyer Laura Wasser (who recently represented Johnny Depp during his divorce from Amber Heard) – and shocked us all by asking for sole custody of the couple’s six children, a move that seems designed to keep Brad very much on the edge of family life. Entertainment attorney Robert Offer explained in a statement on Angelina’s behalf: ‘This decision was made for the health of the family.’ Brad, 52, who reportedly had no idea this was on the cards (and who still assumed the family would be in London together this week) has apparently vowed to fight claims he’s an ‘unfit’ parent and told

a US magazine following their split after 11 years together: ‘I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the well-being of our kids.’ So what went wrong for the A-list couple we definitely thought would go the distance? ‘The relationship’s been volatile for a long time,’ says our source. ‘But even though Angelina’s ultimately the one pulling the plug, that doesn’t mean she’s not in a world of pain right now. She knows she can’t forgive him or take him back.’ Brad and Angelina met on the set of Mr & Mrs Smith back in 2004, while Brad was still married to first wife Jennifer Aniston. The pair later admitted it was during filming that they fell in love, with Ange saying she ‘couldn’t wait to get to work’. Just months after Brad and Jen separated in 2005, he and Ange were swept into an intense and passionate relationship.

Angelina’s requested sole custody of the couple’s six children

hocked

ngelina Brad Included! Brad formally adopted Angelina’s children Maddox and Zahara before the duo quickly began adding to their brood with Pax, Shiloh and twins Vivienne and Knox. They were red carpet royalty, amassing a fortune of £308m, and tied the knot in an intimate family ceremony at their estate in the South of France in 2014. But almost immediately they were thrown in at the deep end, filming By The Sea together as part of their honeymoon. The flick, about a couple’s marriage falling apart, was panned by critics on its release, and reportedly put an intense strain on Brad and Ange’s relationship. ‘Part of the reason Angie gave in to getting married was that she thought it might help them hold it together,’ a source tells Look. ‘For a while they seemed to be working through things, but the fact that the movie was a flop really stung, not to mention the millions they lost on it.’ The pair then had to deal with spending months apart in different countries, with Brad filming all over the world and Angelina pursuing her humanitarian duties as a United Nations ambassador. And they were both rocked by Ange’s discovery she was a carrier of the BRCA1 gene,

the same gene that resulted in her mother Marcheline’s cancer and subsequent death in 2007. Ange made the tough decision to undergo a double mastectomy, with Brad proudly supporting his wife. But while they seemed the perfect couple to the outside world, there were signs of cracks. They were seen having a heated exchange during a family trip to Legoland in Windsor last October, while there have been accusations of substance abuse, as well as claims that days before the split Brad’s behaviour while aboard a private jet with his family pushed Angelina to breaking point – although the LAPD has denied investigating Brad for any reason, despite reports. ‘Ange is beyond devastated she’s had to file for divorce,’ says an insider. ‘But she believes it’s best, especially for the children.’ With Brad desperate to fight for his kids and sources saying the earliest the 11.01am Monday 19 September pair can legally Angelina’s lawyer split is 20 March, Laura Wasser files here’s hoping divorce papers in LA things don’t get any uglier…

The Reasons Behind Their Split why did angeLina reaLLy FiLe For divorce?

Drugs?

There have been several wild claims about why Ange has called it quits. One is that it’s down to Brad’s social life. ‘Brad’s partying is a big issue,’ says a source. ‘Angelina can’t sit back and watch him destroy himself, all under the watchful eyes of the six kids. He’d make excuses to be away to have fun.’

WOrdS: gISeLLe WAInWrIgHT pHOTOS: CHrISSy TeIgen/InSTAgrAM, fAMefLyneT, geTTy IMAgeS, I-IMAgeS, rex feATureS

Rows?

‘The past year and a half they’ve been fighting non-stop about everything,’ says a pal. ‘They fight about where to send the kids to school – he wants them in a normal school and she wants to home-school. They also argue constantly about their schedules.’ Last year, Angelina revealed: ‘Brad and I have our issues… we have fights and problems like any other couple. We have days when we drive each other absolutely mad and want space.’

Cheating?

While there’s no evidence to suggest either Brad or Ange has ever played away, a source tells Look: ‘Angelina was incredibly paranoid about Brad getting too close to his co-stars.’ Marion Cotillard, who stars opposite Brad in Allied, last week denied claims of an affair with the actor, saying: ‘I do very much wish that Angelina and Brad, both whom I deeply respect, will find peace in this very tumultuous moment.’

Who Is Laura Wasser?

Ange has hired top divorce lawyer Laura Wasser, who also represented Johnny Depp, Kim Kardashian and Gwen Stefani in their divorces. Famed for her tough approach, she’s known as the ‘disso queen’ (dissolution of marriages) and rarely takes on clients who are worth less than £8 million – she also charges £650 per hour. Eek.

@lookmagazine

hoW The WorLd reacTed… ‘It’s very sad. Something very serious must have happened for Angie to make a decision like this. I don’t know what it is. It’s a sad thing. Say a little prayer. I’m concerned for Angie and the children and hopefully I’ill be seeing them very soon.’ John Voight, Angelina’s dad

‘Nooo00 #brangelina you were my fave couple’ Lucy Wa t s o n ‘I think Angelina’s done the right thing. She’s clearly taking control of a situation that needs to be sorted. She’s putting the couple’s children first.’ Megan Penfold, Look’s Junior Designer

Jennifer Aniston memes have flooded the internet

Erm, Can We Leave Jen Out Of It? SayS Look’S FeatureS editor giSeLLe wainwright…

‘Is it just me who thinks Jennifer Aniston has been through enough without the world pitching her against Angelina again? Yes, the pair have history – remember Jen famously saying “That was not cool” when Ange gushed about working with Brad on Mr & Mrs Smith? – but that’s exactly it; it’s history. So we don’t need to drag Jen’s name into this split. Having been through the most heartbreaking break-up with Brad previously, Jen probably feels sorry for another woman going through the pain. In the words of Jen herself: “It’s ridiculous – that the two names have to go into the same sentence and there has to be a compare-and-despair thing.” Exactly.’

‘I d i d n’t k n ow t h a t . Wo w . I f e e l very sorry then. T h a t’s a s a d s t o r y and unfortunate fo r a fa m i l y… I feel very sor ry t o h e a r t h a t’ George Clooney

A reporter broke news of the split to Brad's pal George

‘Brad and Angelina. How am I supposed to go to work t o d a y? ’ Chrissy Te i g e n

‘I am GUTTED about the split. What hope is there for the rest of us if the most perfect couple in the world split?! Calling Brad an “unfit” parent is possibly the worst thing you could say about someone who has children. She must be so angry.’ Kate Andrews, Look’s Stylist lookmag

Tay l o r : The Ex She C a n’ t G e t Over

F

ollowing friend Gigi Hadid and her boyfriend Zayn Malik around at New York Fashion Week was hardly Taylor Swift’s best moment. Looking forlorn, despite rocking Gigi’s new Tommy Hilfiger collab from head to toe, it was clear she’s in breakover mode. But while Taylor, 26, has been experiencing some heartache over her split with beau-of-three-months Tom Hiddleston, 35, she’s reportedly been leaning on a former flame for support. The ex in question? None other than Conor Kennedy, who she dated during the summer of 2012. ‘Taylor had a long talk with Conor a few weeks ago, right after she and Tom ended things,’ a pal tells Look. ‘Over the years they’ve texted and chatted every once in a while, but they hadn’t spoken like this.’ Insiders tell us their chat brought back the intense feelings Tay had for Conor and it’s been him she’s been thinking about rather than Tom. ‘Conor and Taylor were on the phone for almost an hour,’ another friend reveals. ‘Taylor was buzzing about it afterwards. She still has major feelings for Conor and would love another chance with him.’ Despite the short nature of their romance,Taylor and Conor, 22, grew very close and the singer even purchased a seven-bedroom home near to his family’s Cape Cod compound while they were together. They reportedly split due to their different schedules, while Taylor was criticised over their four-year age difference – at the time she was 22 and Conor was 18. ‘Unlike with a lot of her exes, there are no hard feelings between Taylor and Conor – it was all left on very good terms,’ says a source. ‘The main reason they broke up was due to his age and that becomes less important with every year that passes.’

Taylor was seen hanging out with Gigi and Zayn at NYFW

Taylor dated Conor for three months in 2012

It’s a nice distraction for Tay after what’s been a difficult time for her romantically. Back in June, she split with Calvin Harris after 15 months of dating, just weeks before she was snapped with Tom. And when it was leaked that Taylor had written the lyrics to his hit This Is What You Came For, the DJ accused her of trying to tear him down while he seemingly released tracks about their time together – his latest, My Way, featuring the lyrics: ‘You were the one thing in my way…’ Hmm, that’s got to hurt. But while we’re sure Taylor’s turning down the radio at the moment, at least she can focus on Conor, who she’s planning to meet up with very soon. ‘Conor’s in his third year at Harvard and he’s told Taylor that once he graduates he’s planning to move to New York and they can hang out,’ says a source. Of course, NYC is where Tay’s renovating her penthouse apartment. And the singer is more than keen to spend time with him. ‘If she had her way, they’d be dating again tomorrow,’ adds our insider. Oh Tay, give it a little more time – and get back to the studio, we’re waiting for that album!

W

e all thought Taylor moved too fast when it came to her romance with Tom, just weeks after calling it a day with Calvin. But Tom’s been exceptionally swift himself – he got cosy with Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra, 34, at the Emmys after-party. He was apparently keen to stress he’s over Taylor and was seen swapping numbers with Priyanka. Insiders revealed the pair were ‘all over each other’. ‘He’s really serious about her,’ says our source. ‘He wants to date Priyanka properly and he’s willing to pull Tom is keen to out all the stops.’ We date Priyanka just can’t keep up…

‘ I Al wa y s Tr y To B e Tr u e To M y s e l f ’ Look’s Beauty Editor Lydia Thompson caught up with Sarah Jessica Parker to chat about her new fragrance, what she thinks of Kim Kardashian and why she’s really not a heels person…

36

.co.uk

’m pretty sure if I asked most of my friends which female celebrity they’d like to meet, Sarah Jessica Parker would be up there. So not only was this a great opportunity to boast on Instagram, but it was also a bit of a dream come true. In 35-degree heat, I walk as slowly as I can to keep cool in the heels I’ve worn to impress her. I mean you would, right? To me, she’s always going to be Carrie Bradshaw, the Sex And The City character with the wardrobe to die for – but in real life, Sarah, 51, has been working in front of and behind the camera (she’s currently starring in US series Divorce). When I arrive at her swanky London hotel suite, I’m greeted by not only the biggest smile and the most gorgeously dressed diddy SJP – she’s tiny! – but also the most incredible scent. The perfume in question? Her new scent STASH By SJP, of course. And it’s no surprise that she’s been working on this fragrance (her third) for nearly 10 years. We can’t wait to hear how she did it…

around taking my kids [James, 13, and twins Marion and Tabitha, seven] to school and dashing to meetings in the city, I’m usually in flats. What do you always have in your handbag? Fragrance and a lip gloss. I look terrible in lipstick, so I rarely wear it. I also always keep Laura Mercier Caviar Eye Pencil in Jungle with me. What are your skincare staples? I never have time to have facials and treatments, so the only thing I do at home is to use a Moroccan black soap [try Moroccan Natural, £10, at allbeauty.com]. I have to leave it on for 15 minutes and it gets quite tight on your skin as it dries. It leaves you with really clear skin. But I’ve got no other secrets, sadly! What’s the one style item you just can’t stop buying? [Laughs] Grey sweaters. I have, like, six that are the same. I always buy them from [US brand] Alternative Apparel. I don’t suit striped tees. I love them on other people and I wish they suited me. I don’t shop that much. I spend my money on things like sinks. What?! I’m not kidding – I like old,

Kim Ka r d a s h i a n has a grace you wo u l d n’ t expect

So Sarah, tell us about STASH – we already love it… Oh, I’m glad, thank you. I’ve been waiting for 10 years to launch this perfume and I love everything about it. It’s genderless. It’s not a fragrance for her or him; it’s a scent for humans. So guys will like it too? Yes, we’ve had about the same amount of men sharing posts about it and saying how much they adore it. It’s funny because when I came up with the concept, the industry was like: ‘No, that’s not done.’ But this was worth waiting for. Can we talk about your obsession with heels? Well, actually it’s a myth that I’m always in heels. I do love them, but I spend so much time running

Sarah JeSSica Parker interview

PHOTOS: PA, Rex, Kim KARdASHiAn/SnAPcHAT, SARAH JeSSicA PARKeR/inSTAgRAm

You met Kim Kardashian recently and she said that you were her idol. What was that like?

So sweet. We’ve met twice now, but this was at Kanye [West]’s concert and my son is a massive fan. He loves him and they were both so good to him. I loved how present she was in the room and how focused she was on us and nothing else. Kanye really gave time to my son, too, and he didn’t have to. He wasn’t talking to me – he was talking to my son for 10 minutes and Kim took my phone and documented the whole thing. I found Kim to be incredibly gracious in a way that people wouldn’t expect. There was a grace to her. I think there’s a lot that’s projected onto her that we allow and that she allows and she’d tell you she’s in complete control of all that. used sinks and bookshelves. That’s my true problem. Honestly, it’s like an addiction. I like to find vintage shops and pick up bits in there. They can be cheap or really

@lookmagazine

expensive and I don’t always buy them – it just feels good. Which women do you admire? I have so many – some of them that I don’t even know their names. I might see someone on the street doing something extraordinary; teachers, siblings… There are a lot of women I admire. If you were to write a letter to you 18-year-old self, what would it say? The best advice I’d give is to cling to your identity, as that’s the hardest thing to do at that age. Try to ignore everyone else’s opinion of you. We spend a huge amount of time when we’re young trying to be like everybody else and then we spend our whole adult life trying to be different, so I think something we should all try to do is be true to our own self and our identity. Yeah, I’d tell me that. n STASH by SJP is available at Boots, Debenhams and Superdrug. The eau de parfum comes in 10ml (rollerball), 30ml, 50ml, and 100ml sizes, from £20-£60. carrie Bradshaw. She’s the woman who made us question ‘whether twentysomething men are the new designer drug’ and who inspired us all with her ability to wear heels at all times – but Sarah Jessica Parker could definitely give her character a run for her money in the style stakes. Whether it’s crushing over new manolos or perfecting the ultimate outfit that totally-shouldn’t-work-but-so-does, SJP is our go-to for new York chic. if carrie had had instagram (can you even believe it didn’t exist during the SATc years?), we know it would look just like this…

As we’ve said for a while, velvet is the top textile for AW16. But the savviest among us are eschewing dresses in favour of rocking velvet to the power of two. Yep, you only need to glance at the shops right now to realise that these ultra-cool twinsets are everywhere, from ASOS to M&S. It’s no surprise; the catwalks were awash with velvet suits, from Alberta Ferretti to Stella McCartney. Pair with a lightweight poloneck underneath, or wear on its own. Either way, this outfit is ideal with Stan Smiths for day, while stilettos make it after-dark appropriate.

Naturally, the return of all things 80s on the catwalks couldn’t occur sans miniskirt. While the last few seasons have been dominated by midis and maxis, short skirts have made a triumphant return, as seen on everyone from Olivia Palermo to the models at Coach and several streetstylers. On our own doorstep, Topshop’s buckled beauty, Zara’s gingham ruffles and Mango’s biker style are all standouts. Pair with oversized blazers and pointed flats.

I Dream Of Dior…

Hannah Banks-Walker, Deputy Fashion News Editor. ‘I’ve been preoccupied with thoughts of Dior’s iconic Saddle Bag for as long as I can remember. That may be a slight exaggeration, but I personally think it warrants one. Created by John Galliano back in 1999, the bag has featured in Sex And The City and become one of the most recognisable accessories on the planet. It’s now experiencing something of a comeback, thanks to fashion’s current nostalgia for logo-mania, not to mention celebrity fans in the form of Beyoncé and Sienna Miller. It might also interest you to know that Vestiaire Collective has an array of this arm candy on sale from £80. Run.’

He’s also helped shaped the fabulous figures of the Made In Chelsea ladies, knowing that if you train hard, the looks will follow. Oh, and he’s gorgeous, with a hot set of abs. So that kinda helps…

‘I do High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) because I want to be the fittest I can be. If I wanted to just look the best, I’d only do weights, but I stay away from them unless I’m exhausted. I smash my core five times a week using the TRX, my favourite equipment to use as it does isolate your core. I also do lots of boxing, too, which shreds the fat and tones the core.’

Burpees

‘Stay away from sugar. Sugar’s in everything, so it’s quite hard! Even granola and orange juice, which you assume is healthy, can be filled with sugar. At £24 for the eye cream and £29.50 for the gel cream, it is a treat – which is why Look’s bagged you an exclusive 25 per cent off – just in case you need extra incentive to justify your new buy. Ah go on, your face will thank you for it!

When applying make-up to your eye area, the last thing you want is for public transport to cause you to jab yourself in your peepers… Ouch! Steady your hand by gently resting your little finger on the top of your cheekbone. Simple, yet effective.

Can’t be bothered with that tricky-to-master contouring malarkey? Ditch the bronzer and opt for strobing instead to achieve that wide-awake look in seconds. Just apply highlighter to the top of your cheekbones, bridge of your nose and sides of your temples.

Wave goodbye to hauling stacks of brushes about by getting yourself a beauty blender. Using the handy sponge to blend in every part of your make-up will save you money and all that faffing around with a bunch of different brushes on the train. Look loves Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge, £5.99. @lookmagazine

If you make a mess when applying your winged eyeliner (don’t worry – it happens to the best of us), no need to panic. Instead of removing and reappyling, just use a drop of high-coverage concealer to tidy up your wing and resume your flawless make-up status.

SERVES 4

● 500g dry spaghetti ● 2 medium cloves garlic ● 2 small chilis, minced ● extra-virgin olive oil ● 500g clams ●½ glass of dry white wine ● Flat leaf parsley (a small

handful), chopped

put the spaghetti on to boil and cook for 1 minute less than the instructions on the packet – you want it to be served al dente. Fry the garlic and chili in the oil in a pan until soft and fragrant. Then add the clams and, keeping the heat medium high, pour the wine directly over the contents and pop on a lid straight over the top to allow the steam to work on the clams. once half the clams are open, remove the lid and raise the temperature to high. The rest of the clams should open at this heat. Any that don’t should be discarded. sprinkle the parsley over the top and toss the clams and wine gently. drain the pasta and pour the clams and wine over it. Add a generous glug of olive oil, a pinch of salt and pepper and a teaspoon of butter (optional). Toss until coated and serve with a further sprinkle of parsley and parmesan cheese.

Fold up the sides to form a well-sealed parcel and cook under a medium-high grill for 20 minutes. To make the orange butter, add the zest of the orange and lemon and the orange juice to the rest of the butter, roll up in cling film to form a cylinder and refrigerate to harden. when ready, open the fish parcel and put on a serving plate. WORTH THE HYPE: Charlie Hedges

DJ Charlie Hedges’ star is on the rise – hells, Justin Timberlake’s a fan – but how does she do it? Look caught up with her to find out… Hi Charlie! What are your tips for the perfect party playlist? Maybe start with tracks that are quite chilled. As people have a couple of lemonades they like to sing, so put in some familiar tracks. And the best song for the end of the night? Kaleidoscope – which is my brand new single! It’s quite vibey. What do you like to play most? My all-time favourite is Faithless – Insomnia. I played it at Eden, Ibiza the other night. It’s an old track but you can reinvent it. How do you look so good when you’re clearly sweating buckets? I carry wet wipes. When it’s hot, you’re going to look a little bit messy. But if you’re enjoying yourself, I think that everyone can be excused! What’s the weirdest moment you’ve had while you’ve been DJing? I was playing a festival a couple of years ago. The guy after me had his team come and set up, and they ejected mine! The music just cut out. Celebrity fans? Who are your favourites? We had Justin Timberlake in and he’s the nicest guy – so chilled. Who’s your dream person that you’d love to DJ with or teach to DJ? You know what, another girl! We need more girls. Let’s go for Rihanna. She’d be a sick DJ. I’ll teach her how! ■ Three is extending its Feel At Home service so you can use your phone abroad at no extra cost.
