Art & Design Department Lecturers and Staff If I were to recount the most significant effect college life had on me, it could plainly be described in one word: reinvention. It happened at the time when my judgemental eye - forever scowling - was evaluating the world outside, not quite realising then that it was about the universe inside all along. The untamed universe inside. It takes a lifetime to learn to see, if ever. We’re weighted by baggage and ghosts, and teased by the weightlessness of unset boundaries. So much of life’s lessons are about the lifting of veils and it was in college - the reinvention - where some of the heaviest lifting was done. In many ways, I’d like to think you graduates too have taken your first steps. I’ve seen you grow. There have been tears shed and celebratory hugs. There have been deep doubts and days of clear confidence, one moment shattered and the next reconstituted. You would agree reinvention doesn’t come easy.

Head Cum Lecturer Ambrose Poh

Amongst you graduates, I’ve witnessed groups - different as water and oil - forge an enduring bond over the years. Here, you lifted each other, shared your know-how, and collectively triumphed in your school work. This exhibition, themed SHOW ING, displays only your final projects. Pity, for if only the audience could see how far you’ve walked and how much you’ve grown, that would be quite a show. Thanks for the memories, people. You’ll be missed.

EMBRACE HERITAGE Emphasized on creating unique visual appearance for the gallery to represent Arch’s’ use of techniques in their products and creations, key point is to embrace the absence of materials on surfaces and generate contrast quality between permeable and solid. Light and shadow played important role for the design approach as they enhances the visual definition over the elements. Natural lighting were substantially presented in parts the gallery to bring in the sense of nature to match the wood elements and also allowing visitors to appreciate art works and their natural textures with very minimal artificial lightings.

MALAYSIAN FISHERIES SOCIETY My design concept is emphasizing on the difference scent and taste between the fish in the freshwater and marine. The smells of marine is more salty to compare with the freshwater. Also, freshwater has a scent of mud. Therefore, through the space and the movement,I would like to spread the scent of freshwater to the visitors after they get off from the car. In addition, the whole environment of the aquarium is surrounding with intensely smell of freshwater which is believe can be more close to the atmosphere of wild freshwater.

More and more youth nowadays are not willing to have traditional wedding style and yet know nothing about they own dialect’s wedding ceremony and culture. This might cause our culture lost in time if the older generation pass away. Through my project I hope to let people have more interested and know more about their own native culture.

We are loved. 被爱的时光 Love is a mystery power. It provides positive energy for human. For me, this positive energy can help people save from suffering. Actually, dependence, possession and love is very different, it is just for people own needs. When we rely on a person, we would try to let them love and care about us. If not, we will feel hate, sad, disappointed and so many negative emotions. In the other hand, the cruel of reality make people begin not to trust others because we do not give nor accept warmth of love. Understand and learn about love would help us to see the wonderful of life. In this project, I would like to share the way of myself to feel and get strength of love in my life to remind the audience the love that always exist but being forgotten.

In my opinion a hero is someone you can look up to, and depend on throughout your life and follow their footsteps. I would have to say my sister has been my hero throughout my life. The Unseen Hopes This illustration series portrays the autistic child's intangible hopes and the objection is to raise awareness and motivate action in giving care to autistic disorder. In fact, autism isn't incurable nor a lifelong condition. It does not have to be a life sentence. Hope leads to action, and without action, none of these children can be helped. Let’s generate love, give a caring expression and open our arms to embrace the people who required constant attention and care.

Smile Emoticon Smile Emoticon is a communication icon which expresses happy emotional . This smile icon is simple and direct which easily understood by everyone with the emotional of happy. Moreover, Smile icon does not have age, ethnic and skin tone differences ,anyone can use it to represent their emotional expression. Hence, in my project, Smile Emoticon is a symbol which represent anyone of us with positive thinking living in different environments.

“ Life is a journey , with the person we met, we learn, we solve, but most of all, the experience to enjoy. ” We will encounter with different people in our daily life, whether it is good or bad. Hence, in my project ,different animals were used to describe different characteristics of people in our daily life. The idea of using animals is to represent the people I have encountered with in my life , and with this I have gained a lot life experiences in my three years college life. Throughout this project, I hope that my objective can deliver a message as a reminder to us, “Remember to Smile” no matter who we meet and where we are in our life.

Litter 被弃物 In this nine artwork I want to share some story and don’t waste and recycle. There is because in this century have many people just buy many seem like handphone cover or something. But however, many people just use one week or have buy new one then the old one just drop some way or drop to trash can. So I wish this topic can awake the people to recycle or more appreciative to use the item.

Empress of Enlightenment Inspired by Catherine the Great, also known as Empress of Enlightenment, was the iconic female leader of Russian Empire. The collection tells a story of grandeur as it is related closely to Eastern European heritage and Russian history, in which wealth was expressed materially. Opulent materials in jewel-hue are segue to lustrous and bejeweled details. The collection portrays power and opulent; silhouettes were kept pretty sophisticated and elegant to reflect on the Imperial Elements. …and a regal creation is born

Little Matron -it’s meFor this collection, I am inspired by the matryoshka doll which also called Russian doll. Matryoshka literally “little matron”. The person who first created Russian doll was inspired by the Japanese toys so my garments often play with Japanese style printed fabric. There are some trimming on the garment to represent the layer of Russian doll and it makes the garment look more interesting. While the other design details like patchwork, pleat and variety cutting also bring out little surprise. It’s colorful, it’s fun, it’s lovely…this is the Russian doll.

IMPRISONED VENUS Inspired by chastity belt, the locking device, also known as the Girdle of Venus. The collection portrays the feeling of restraint, with the idea of chastity belt as a device symbolizes desire, to lock up or imprison one’s emerging desire. A sensual touch of sexiness is rendered through the use of materials such as leather, velvet and transparent fabrics with leather straps and belts details. Bare back designs are seen to show the most sensuous part of a woman’s body. It’s all about the sensuality and the restraint.
