LANDSCAPE DESIGN/ URBAN GROUP WORK(Master Plan)& INDIVIDUAL WORK ADVISOR: Mike Blier 2019.09-2019.12 This is an urban landscape design project that basically focuses on the water's edge, and uses multiple architectural canopy to create different spaces for human activities. The concept of yin and yang is not onlyrepresented by the canopy of the space. They also interpreted by the materialof the opposite layers; the landscape barrier made by the design. Meanwhile, asin and yang are mixed together, there will also be yin in the yang, and the same inthe opposite.

Our goal is to design a place Yang that feels like an extension of Yin surrounding neighborhood. the We will achieve this by creating Middle urban connections that strengthen the transportation infrastructure, culture, and commerce between Boston Proper and East Boston. In this way, our proposal will create a dynamic, multifunctional district that harbors a lively public atmosphere, one that reflects and celebrates the cultural heritage of East Boston's residents.

The site is on the water edge of our masterplan, besides a driveway and includes two buildings and a landscape bridge. The concept of yin and yang is represented by the canopy of the space, the material comparision and the landscape barrier. There are four axis going from the city to the harbor, to bound these two destinations stronger.

LIGHT ABSTRACTOR
Our skin traces temperature spaces with unerring precision; the cool and invigoration shadow under a tree, or the caressing sphere of warmth in a spot of sun, turn into experiences of space and place. Pallasmaa - Eyes of the Skin Blind people are excluded from the perception of the world arable to the sighted. However, they compensate by developing the other senses, especially touch, to much greater degrees than most people. Similar compensations occur for those who cannot hear or speak. The extent to which the ' s eye' exists for blind people, especially those blind from birth, is difficult for sighted people to appreciate. Simon Bell - LANDSCAPE Pattern 7
It’s a box that with two textures of iron sheet skin inside. I sticked the smooth sheet on the left, right and top wall of the box. The on the bottom I used the crumpled sheet to see how those different textures could reflect the light. There are also several reflection balls hanging at the top and spinning in front of my face. After I took this device to the site, I found that it’s more like a device that absorb the light first, analyses the light form then reflect on the iron sheet. I found the environment light is misleading when I walk without the box, because my eyesight angle is wide, and I can see a lot of disturbing things. However, when I walk with the device, like the gifs showed, the thing I can only see is the narrow landscape in a small crop, and all the light my device absorbed are the light resources that around me. The light form changed clearly and suddenly, and it’s easily to see the light change through the whole walk. 8

CONTEXT
03 ENDLESS MUSIC CITY A music park that combines people and their musical life together.
Design Concept
LANDSCAPE DESIGN INDIVIDUAL WORK ADVISOR: Jacob Mitchell 2019.02-2019.05
Music is a form of cultural expression that can bring people together. As the capital of Rhode Island, Providence should have a place that can let people share their music together, as the communication center of music. This is an amazing place to develop a concert venue to connect the two culture, the American culture and music history in one place and create a music park on the water, which I’m calling it the endless music city, means the endless possibilities of music and facilities.

I’m hoping they could live separately and collectively without disturbance, like the second sketch. People could hang on the bank, while at the same time, the otters are hanging inside their own places. Human, as a guest of their homes, could just stay far or take a boat to have a look.

The acreage of wetland becomes very small in 2011, however the acreage of deciduous forest maintains a relatively wide area. Now the acreage of forest is far more than wetland.
2004
The acreage of wetland decreased a lot during 1995 to 2004, however the acreage of deciduous forest increased a little bit.
1995
The forest decreased a little, however the wetland mainly kept the same acreage than 1988.
