Welcome to the Haddon Community Learning Centre Term 1 Program Guide Happy New Year everyone and welcome to returning and newcomers to the Centre for term 1, 2014. I hope you had a lovely festive season and are ready to get back, or kick start your learning experiences here at the Haddon Community Learning Centre; a new name that I hope better reflects what we achieve. The term is somewhat a short one but there will still be a lot of exciting courses and activities on offer that I hope can tempt you in to come join us. We have recurring computer classes for those who are new and never turned one on before to those with more advanced skills. We can help you no matter what level you are at so don’t put it off come enrol now. In the computer classes the 'Intel® Easy Steps program is a great way to start with a very basic beginners level and a more advanced Level 2 for those with a bit more experienced. You will receive a certificate of completion at the end of those courses with a summary of what you have achieved. Look at the NBN courses as well as if you are a business/ group/ organisation you can have 4 hours training for free. I can organise training for all sorts of courses including MYOB I just need to have at least four people from differing groups/business and then you can receive the free training. Give me a call and don’t miss out as the program is pencilled to end in June. Some of our exciting new courses are: “Music Production” for artists. Even if you do not have an ABN at present it is easy to apply for one so well worth phoning to find out how to receive this free training. Also our new trainer Janette Wotherspoon is offering some fabulous classes including ‘Fashion Drawing.’ Sounds wonderful and Janette hails from MCT and RMIT so is a multi talented teacher and artist and so experienced and we welcome her to our centre. Any don’t forget most of Janette’s classes could be done through the NBN program for free also for those who are eligible. Our very popular ‘Tai Chi’ Thursday morning class and ‘Yoga’ evening class will return and if there is enough interest expressed I can organise day time class in Yoga and a night time one in Tai Chi so just let me know if you are interested. Some other classes returning are: card making and the Monday evening Quilters group sessions. The group would love to have new people join them so if you love sewing/patchwork/quilting than come join in and share the passion! There are many more courses and activities to look at so read through the program and see what you would like to try and book early as we need sufficient numbers to proceed with the courses. Our trainers and tutors are highly trained and are truly dedicated to help you. But also please let us know if you have any ideas or requests for classes/activities and I will do my best to organise them. Or if you have a skill to share then let us know. As always a big thank you for all your support. Please check and ‘like’ our Facebook page and keep informed of the latest news and activities there. And remember two events in March not to miss are
the International Women's Day March 13th our very special evening and our special community market end of March. I do hope to see you there! “For the things we have to learn before we can do them, we learn by doing
them.” ― Aristotle, The Nicomachean Ethics

Macramé is a form of textile-making using knotting rather than weaving or knitting. Its primary knots are the square knot and forms of "hitching": full hitch and double half hitches. It was long crafted by sailors, especially in elaborate or ornamental knotting forms, to decorate anything from knife handles to bottles to parts of ships
