Welcome to Haddon & District Community House A very warm welcome to any new students and returning ones to the centre for term three! I hope you find something new to excite you in our winter course program. And remember I always welcome suggestions for classes and if you are able to teach a skill then please come talk to me about it and we may be able to offer that at the house in the future! With the success of the quilters group on Monday evenings we have had a request to start a ‘gardeners group,’ so if you would like to be part of this new group give us a call. Our usual fantastic computer classes are all available again this term and some new ones we hope you may like to try. We have had so many new and returning students you will need to book in as early as you can as class sizes are often very limited. It has been a very busy computer lab in term 2. And with our modern computers and big screens now is the time to come join in the fun! And if you are looking to get back into the workforce or need to up skill for your job then we can hopefully assist you in becoming ready with our popular introduction to hairdressing and beauty services classes, or with an essential computer or MYOB course. Or maybe you would like to explore a new creative side with basket making, mosaics, card making or quilting, or learn to relax or get fit with tai chi, yoga or art/meditation classes. Remember whatever your requirement we look forward to being able to assist you. We are very proud to offer a large range and variety of courses and activities. The quality of our trainers and tutors are first class. They are dedicated and caring and we provide small personal class sizes enabling you to benefit greatly with individualised training methods that larger centres cannot do. You are never too old to learn. You can learn to use a computer or do something creative, you just need to take that first step and call us! We have a very special program of basics and intermediate computer skills courses for artists that came about because of the feedback to the ‘Arts Atlas’ training in second term. So if you are an artist , textile, crafts person of any kind with an ABN or part of a group then please avail yourself of these free courses to help you with your business or group when it comes to using computers. It is a fact of life nowadays that we all need to be able to use a computer even if it is just to manage our photograghs! So take a look through our program and book early as we need sufficient numbers to proceed with the courses and many have limited numbers as well. As always we are very grateful for those who support the house and we look forward to seeing you at the centre this term. And please check us out, ‘like’ our page and keep informed of the latest news and activities on our Facebook page. “Formal education will earn you a living, self-education will earn you a fortune.” – John Patterson
