Welcome to our first ever sale offering of bulls. I’d like to thank Larry and Brendan at Nielson Land and Cattle for letting us sell bulls with them in their DLMS farm gate timed auction they are having this year. They’ve been doing a live sale for many years but timed auctions seem to be the new way and the convenience of them is unmatched. We are a mixed grain and cattle family farm SW of Craik, SK. Myself and my wife Erin and 3 kids, Morgan (13), Dalton (11), and Elliot (7) have been raising commercial cows for our whole lives and the decision to start a purebread Simmental herd was made a few years back as we’d been using Simmental bulls and breeding our commercial cows for many years. It was a easy decision and we’re glad we made it as it is something that we have loved doing since we started. We calved 40 mostly black Simmental purebreads and 125 commercial cows this last year. The purebread heard has and will be consistently growing with purchases each year from some top end herds that are well established in the Simmental business, and retention of heifers born in herd. We are proud of the bulls we are offering up for our first sale. They are out of some top sires in the breed and there’s one that can work in any type of herd. We have a herd of BBF Hereford cross cows we breed black Simmental and boy we love the calves they have. They’ve been developed on a TMR of cereal silage and mixed grass hay and mineral after they’re weaned in early October. And then starting January 1st were pail fed a Master Feeds blueprint pellet of 1% of their body weight. The offering is small this year but will continue to grow with our herd each year so buy with confidence. Give me a call if there’s any questions or better yet stop by and have a look if you can.
