These Angus bulls appear to exhibit the deep chest floor, thickness, and length still desired today. We seem to have pushed in a breeding direction where computer driven analysis (EPDs, carcass data, genomics) and social media are the new standard of marketing. RUNNING WITH THE BULLS
In the fall of 1978, my father, Murray, wanted to hire a young auctioneer from Stavely, Alberta, by the name of Brent Carey. Wes Carey, Brent’s father, was a long-time family friend and fellow Hereford breeder. I can clearly remember being present at one of our pre-sale meetings when Dad brought forth the idea that he thought it was time to introduce a new auctioneer to our sale. This, interestingly enough, was not the first time Dad had a fresh auctioneer entering the purebred business to sell Stauffer bulls. Ken Hurlburt was a first, as was Bob Balog, Don Savage, and of course now came Brent. At the time, we had one of the most respected auctioneers by the name of Jock Blacklock selling our annual sale each fall in November. The notion to have a young kid to be part of our event did not go over particularly well with Jock. My Dad stuck to his decision to have Brent, and that he would start the bull section of our sale. Of course, it turned out to be the start of a career unmatched by very few. Brent would sell over 44 years of Stauffer genetics. When I decided to change our sale auctioneer for our 2023 Bull Sale, Brent was very respectful of this change for a new direction forward. I can remember him calling me up about a month after we had spoke of the change, and he genuinely thanked us for making a move that was proactive for business rather than one of a reactive nature. He also fondly recalled being at that same meeting and having my dad, Murray, place confidence in a young kid from Stavely, AB to run with the bulls! To that, he was forever grateful, leading to a long and successful career, being one of the Canada’s premier auctioneers of his time.

CATTLE INSPECTION: All carry permanent identity tags corresponding to Sale Lot Numbers and shall be available for inspection prior to sale.
ALL CATTLE ARE SOLD: Subject to such tests as required for export under regulations of the Health of Animals Branch, Department of Agriculture for Canada - those corresponding to Bureau of Animal Industry requirements.
BREEDING GUARANTEE: All cattle are sound & right and sell with a responsible breeder guarantee of satisfaction. In the event of any unlikely dispute, the regular terms and conditions, standard with the Canadian Aberdeen Angus Association shall apply.
INSURANCE: Ownership risk to purchaser commences when the Auctioneer’s hammer falls. Kolton Kasur with Canadian Farm Insurance Corp. will be available to look after your insurance needs on Sale Day and we strongly request you participate in one form or another to hopefully avoid any unforeseeable mishaps.

TERMS OF SALE: Are cash or cheque at par, payable to Clerks of the Sale on Sale Day. U.S. Funds will be accepted at the current rate of exchange. No release will be given until satisfactory settlement has been made. We reserve the right to withhold animals from shipment for whom payments have not been received prior to departure times.

ANNOUNCEMENTS: Errors discovered in the catalogue will be corrected by announcements from the auction stand at sale time and such corrections will take precedence over the printed material in the catalogue.
DELIVERY OF SALE BULLS: Immediately following the sale, Stauffer Ranches will provide free delivery to your ranch, up to 250 miles, and to central sale barn locations after that. With these bulls coming of two years of age, we fully expect them to adapt comfortably to your herd bull battery without too much additional care.
