Southwest Showcase 2021!!!! Like the name would suggest this is a “SHOWCASE” event in south western Saskatchewan. These group of three breeders need no introduction to the industry. X-T Simmentals, Boundary Ranch and Crocus Simmentals have been in the Simmental business for years and in the business of producing Ranch raised bulls. Seed stock that are bred to last and have longevity. It’s always a pleasure touring these breeders bull pens and driving thru the cow herds in the hot days of summer. The thing I notice the most is the consistency each breeding unit exemplifies from one end of the cowherd to the other. Good footed,Good uddered and Easy fleshing mama cows. This “STAMP” of quality and type really shows up when you tour the bull pens in the early months of winter. They are always out sourcing and searching to find a herdsire that will help to improve and add a new twist to the upcoming breeding season. When they find something they think will add value to their programs they stick to it and make it work. Being consistent on breeding top end sires to the powerful cowherds they have built up over the years,brings us to this “SHOWCASE” Event annually. The bull sale offering is built around years of hard work and the know how of crossing genetics and producing what the ranchers want. On offer you will find Big Powerful cow bulls that are big ribbed,heavy muscled,loose hided,big hipped and hairy. Bulls with lots of testicle development and are overall structurally sound and good footed, they will get out and travel in the most diverse conditions. There will also be a group of calving ease bulls to select from....Bulls that are long spined,nice fronted,smooth shouldered with neck extension and nice skulled. They are bred for calving ease yet still maintain the performance necessary to keep the pounds at weaning and clip the coupon $$$. The terms of the sale are cash or cheque payable at par at sale location unless satisfactory credit arrangements have been made previous to the sale. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement is made. Transcon Livestock Corp. reserves the right to require a certified cheque as settlement before releasing any sale cattle. Should any purchaser fail to settle for his purchase Transcon Livestock Corp. reserves full power to resell the animal to the best advantage either publicly or privately, without further notice. Any loss arising from such resale together with keep and all other expenses shall be payable by the defaulter. All settlements must be made with the clerks of the sale before any cattle will be released.

BID Every animal consigned to the sale must be sold by auction. No private sales will be allowed except as otherwise provided for in the terms and conditions. No by-bidding will be permitted. Each animal will be sold to the highest bidder. DISPUTES In cases of disputes, bidding will be reopened between the parties involved. If no further bid is made the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision in such matters will be final. PURCHASER’S RISK

Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold. Animals will be cared for at the purchaser’s risk for a reasonable length of time.

SHIPPING

Assistance will be given in making shipment after the sale but no risk is assumed by the Sales Management or Seller. Expenses incurred are the responsibility of the purchaser. Purchasers are requested to furnish shipping instructions when making settlement.

BREEDERS GUARANTEE

As per applicable Canadian Breed Association Breeding Guarantee guidelines. Copies are available at the sale settlement desk to be picked up by the buyer at any time. In no event shall the seller be responsible for reimbursing more than the purchase price.

EXCEPTION TO GUARANTEE In cases where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproduction techniques after the sale, the guarantee shall be null and void. HEALTH It is the buyer’s responsibility to determine health requirements for importing any animal into his province or state. Transcon Livestock Corp. assumes no responsibility for the health status of any animal in the sale. ACCIDENTS

Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of buyers, neither the Sales Management, auctioneer, consignors. or Association assumes any responsibility in this matter and disclaims any liability legal or otherwise in the event of accident or loss of property.

Should a problem occur barring physical injury or mismanagement, a bull of equal value will be provided or a credit will be issued towards the purchase of another bull. IN-HERD USE SEMEN RIGHTS

The Southwest Showcase consignors reserve the right to collect semen on any bull in the sale for their in-herd use only. Any questions please contact the consignors.

BULL DEVELOPMENT & DELIVERY

The Southwest Showcase consignors will keep bulls free of charge until May 1st, 2021. Buyers need to insure the bulls while being cared for by the consignors. Option A Bulls can be picked up at Heartland Livestock sale day and a $100 discount will be deducted from the sale price Option B At the buyer’s option and risk, the bulls can be returned to the consignor’s farm and picked up anytime at the buyer’s convenience. Option C Please make arrangements with the consignor if trucking is required.

EPD EXPLANATION

EPDs are “Expected Progeny Differences”. They are a useful tool in selection. EPDs incorporate the individual animal with its averaged ancestry performance. EPDs do not compare across cattle breeds, they are individually based per breed. EPDs indicate a probable variance above or below breed average for that trait for a given bull’s progeny. Use them for guidance in the direction you want your herd to go. With the release of the BOLT system, data is transmitted to the evaluation weekly and new results are loaded weekly. This means that averages and percentiles are subject to ongoing change. Please use the CSA website for the most up to date and accurate averages and percentile rank infomation. HEALTH AND FERTILITY

All bulls will have a scrotal measurement and a vet examination done prior to the sale. All bulls over 12 months of age will also be semen tested; any bulls under 12 months of age will return to the seller’s farm to be tested after the sale. These bulls will be delivered once a semen test has been passed. All bulls have been treated with Ivomec and have current vaccinations. Contact the breeder for specific herd health programs.

This last year has been an unprecedented time full of change and adjustment. We are proud of those in the Ag sector and the livestock industry in particular that continue live, operate and thrive during these changing times. One thing that has not changed during this time however is our desire and motivation to provide you with the best selection of quality herd sires. Our 2021 bull sale offering is amongst the strongest group we have ever offered, both through their genetic make-ups, and their physical phenotypes.

We feel that the strength of our cowherd is key to the future success of your herd sire. Our cows are moderate framed and easy fleshing with sound foot, leg and udder structure. Every year we receive compliments on the soundness of our bull pen and it is something we feel is very important. It is our focus that you are just as happy with the bull for years to come, as you are on sale day. These bulls are bred and fed to last.

Wisdom 65H has been in a league of his own right from day one. From an early age he has displayed the same muscle shape, huge rib and tremendous presence that makes him so appealing today. This bull is a little different than the rest of his contemporaries in that he is a bigger framed bull all about power and performance. He’s about as long as a visit from your mother-in-law. The cow side is where this guy will really shine. His dam is a ten year old very productive cow who always produces a good one no matter how she is bred. One of her granddaughters was the second high selling female at the 2020 North Dakota State sale for the Staigle family of Mandan Lake Simmentals. Here is a hetero black bull with a different pedigree. He is a well muscled calf with a nice look to him. 104B has an F MISSILE daughter in the herd and in 2019 she had an absolute standout COBRA bull that unfortunately injured his stifle after weaning. The Grand Dam was a big powerful red cow and one of the all time favorites here on the ranch.

This is a super attractive stud with lots of neck extension and a beautiful front 1/3. In addition to his wonderful profile, he is strong topped with lots of capacity all set on a perfect set of feet and legs. We used the EQUITY bull to a splash of color on some of our black cows and have been very pleased with the results. His MISSLE dam is as thick bodied and attractive of a cow as you will find anywhere. For four generations back, her ancestors have been our top producing cows. We will have a video of 6E available before sale time so keep an eye out for that. 6E’s first calf, a real top end COBRA son, sold through the sale last year to Todd and Shelley Humphrey out of Eastend. The only son from our new herdsire Wheatland Express, a high seller for $110,000. One of my favorite 93D sons to date. 164H is hard to fault; deep bodied, smooth and soft made, small attractive skull, lots of hair, excellent foot and leg structure. He combines the highly maternal Renegade with one of our top cow families.
