General Information. NOTE:
Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
4. Install a new nut to the crossmember bolt and tighten the nut with hand tools. Tighten: Tighten the nut to 110 N.m (81 lb ft). 5. Lower the vehicle. 6. Cut a suitable piece of galvanized steel or fiber reinforced plastic sized to cover the hole in the floor with at least a 25-mm (1-in) overlap on all sides. IMPORTANT: Fuel system components lie under the cargo compartment floor. Do not use rivets or screws to attach the cover over the hole. 5. Lightly scuff sand the bonding surfaces of both the panel and the cover. 6. Wipe each bonding surface with alcohol. 7. Apply a 3-6 mm (1/8 -1/4 in) bead of adhesive around the perimeter of the cover.

The magnesium crossmember requires the use of unique lower control arm cam bolts, washers, and aluminum bushing ferrules. Failure to use these specific components during assembly will result in severe corrosion damage.
11. Install the lower control arm to the crossmember. Refer to Lower Control Arm Replacement .
