Representing ideologies and insitiutions in the manner of false idols, architects have often contributed to repressive environemts. - Pérez-Gómez, Built Upon Love Envisioning a better urban environment and society has been one of my primary goals in architectrual and urban design. In the past 5 years, I have been involved in several architectural and urban projects which focus on various social problems. 'How to live together, 40 years later' envisions a self-sufficient commune in a giant passive building. 'Wall- Between the thickness and the thinness' satirizes consumerism in contemporary society. In 'Rebuild Detroit', I propose a new urban form of urban-countryside amalgamated state and a land recycle center to combat depopulation and social injustice. 'Condensed Town' is inspired by urban context of Tokyo and focuses on improving affordable share house for young generations. ' Guangmingcheng Hub' is a professional work in AECOM which aims to intergate construction with natrual environment and develop limited land efficiently. As a young architect, urban designer, student and a citizen of the earth, I would like to continue contribute myself to my community, the society ,the imperfect world. Exploring, researching, pondering, imagining and delivering.

HOW TO LIVE TOGETHER, 40 YEARS LATER A Climate-Dominated Commune Design in Madrid
Project Type: Architectural Design\Programming Time: May.2018 Instructor: Inaki Abalos\Gonzalo Pardo Location: Madrid, Spain Individual Work
How people will live together 40 years later is a interesting question. This project focuses on two issues in future- climate change and self-sufficiency commune. This porject is about combination. The prototye of the section combine different shapes adapt to the climate in both winter and summer, day and night. The whole building is a combination of a plan organized by program and a section adapt to climate. As for the connected mass, in summer, the canopy would be changed into gauze so that the ventilation would not be blocked. The wind passes through the valley and improve its speed and pressure, so that the hot air in each cube could be pumped out to the valley. The vertical patio in each cube can form vertical hot wind passage and carry the heat off. Vegetations under canopy can regulate diurnal temperature difference. The ventilation system are expected to reduce the use of air conditioner and save energy. In winter the gauze will be changed into menbrance material and form a greenhouse to heat each cube. The commune is a ham production commue that assembling people to live together. They porduce food and some commodities in the commune and depend little on outside world.Their lifestyle provides a example for future on how to get along with nature.

Combination
The site of the project is a uncultivated land in the suburb area of Madrid. On the northwest of the site is Pedriza mountain, and on the south of the site is Santillana Reservoir. The altitude of the site is higher than the city of Madrid. Because of the mountains and the reservoir, the prevaling wind direaction is southwest. The reservoir can absorb more heat than soil at daytime and release more heat at night. As a result, the direction of breeze is from northeast to southwest at daytime and reverses at night. The breeze caused by reservoir can take heat away at daytime in summer and bring heat to the site at night in winter. The solar angle is 73.5° in summer solstice and 26.5° in winter solstice.
Plan + Section
The plan of the cummune is organized by its program. Ham and agriculture are two main production in the commune. Different procedure requires differnt times and different envionmental conditions. Five functional units work separately and is connected by tourists' public funcitons in the connection.

Ground Floor Plan
In order to make the builidng comfortable in both summer and winter, operations that facing different seasons are combined in one cube. Those operations control shadow and ventilation in each unit. Besides, the same climate condition also should be considered in the building group. In the end, I got the section diagram of the combination of operations. And the whole building is also a combination of the section formed by clinate and the plan formed by program.

WALL-BETWEEN THE THICKNESS AND THE THINNESS A Photography Gallery Design Near a Fly-over
Project Type: Architecture Design Time: Sept.2018 Instructor: Wanli Mo Location: Guomao Bridge, Beijing, China Individual Work
The site of this project is nearby a flyover in CBD area of Beijing. To use least land and avoid occupied public park, it would be suitable to put an billboard-like mass on that site. The gallery is a photography gallery. Contemporay photographers tend to shoot both salon works and commercial works. The salon shoots reflect their artistic pursuits, while the commercial works reflect their demands of finalcial income. Their works have dual characters. The gallery can be a form of this kind of opposite relationship. The facade is a billboard and behind the facade is a gallery that exhibts salon works. Seeing the wall from different directions, the perspective distortion is also different. I attempt to alter the angle of the wall at the back side to arrange advertising area and create diversified spaces both inside the gallery and outside facade. Public entertainment services are also inserted in the gallery to servie hearby communities which arranged according to photographies' style.
Two Different Sides of The City - CBD and Residence Area
At the Boundry of Classes The site is at the boundry of CBD area and congested mid-class residential area. Viewing CBD from residential building, what we see is one of the most concentrated places in the country and mid-class lives of consumerism.

A gallery combined with Billboard is suitable for the two-sideness.

REBUILD DETROIT Land Recycling Center at Michigan Central Depot
Project Type: Architecture Design Time: Jul.2019, Instructor: Aidi Su Location: Michigan Central Depot, Detroit, US Individual Work
Detroit like many places is undergoing a depopulation transformation, that are currently seen in both the city, and the countryside. However over time, Detroit has slowly and unexpectedly brought back the population through its city and countryside amalgamation of buildings, empty lots, farms, startup businesses, instigating a new kind of city countryside living. How can we learn from this amalgamated state and amplify a new form of urban-countryside lifestyle that can combat depopulation? Instead of urban renewal as the only answer, what if we engineer a new type of depopulation resilient urbanism that is both urban and countryside, fast and slow, intense and replenishing. In this project, I try to activate Michigan Central Depot, create a new city developing model which allow urban and countryside mix together to confort city shrink. The Michigan Central Depot will become a land recycling center that lead the new city developing model.

Detroit
Detroit has experienced several decades population decline and suburbanization. The population of surrounding towns is 3 times that of Detroit. However, the rece and poverty in Detroit and suburb area are different. Large number of impoverished black families live in the run-down city. Investment in development cannot improve the communities' environment, and it is difficult to place high-profit industries in Downtown directly.

Building Generating
I engineer a new type of depopulation resilient urbanism which is to gradually transfer vacant land into city agriculaural land or park. The process provide jobs for local residents and improve communities' environment.
1. Currently, the train depot is decayed badly especially at the roof.
2. Remove the decayed roof and facade.
3. Place a new truss structural system.
4. Insert laboratories in the old building's tower.
5. Insert factory facilities cube and exhibition cube
6. Movable roof system on the platform and factory.

Three Systems In The Section The logistic and factory system are arranged at ground floor in a horizontal mass so that the cargo could be easily transported. The research center is in the vertical tower since its program is suitable for vertical mass according to its climatic difference. The exhibition mass is a structure that stands between two masses and penetrates both so that visitor could see more of the building. These three systems not only work independently but also interact with each other in the integrity to achieve the land recycling process.

CONDENSED TOWN A Share House Design in Tokyo
Project Type: Architectural Design Time: May. 2017 Instructor: Xinnan Zhang/ Di Wang Location: Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan Individual Work
The site of this project is in Shinjuku area, surrounded by a great number of houses and residential apartments. The share house condences the texture of the map of site in both plan and facade. In this project, I attempted to combine two organization systems- from both top-down and bottom-up in the share house. In order to create an amiable atmosphere, I allow each resident to decide their own living cube and open up cube walls to interact with others, which is a bottom-up process. However, I designated the vertical position of the four thematic share spaces and decided the position of the shear walls, which is a top-down design process. As a result, even though I can only control part of the building, the rest naturally completes itself through the freedom offered to the residents to shape their own space.

Sizes And Functions
The site of this project is in Shinjuku area, surrounded by a great number of houses and residential buildings. As there is no city's regulation of the builidng setback restriction, the city texture of Tokyo is unique and interesting.Streets in residential area are narrow, and the aisles between houses are under embarrassing situations. Those space are either traffic aisles or abandoned space. Walls squeeze those spaces are soild with no opening. Locating at such community, the share house condences the texture of the map in both plan and facade. And the cube has various wall to change the embarrassing situation of the aisles. Because of the variety of interface, the use of space is varied and vague. The tenant can use it as they wish and create delicate relationships with others.
Arrangement of Share Space
City Texture in the Plan
City Texture in the Facade
To make the share house's living space diverser, I provided four different modules of rooms and verious kind of openings of the room. The residents can select room modules and opening they like and quickly construct it onto the sharhouse building. The different openings create various way to ues the pubilc in-between space Share Space at Center

Four Community In-Between Space The attribution of the space between two cubes will vary depending on the interface of the cube. Those inbetween space can be public space or semi-private at different situations and various activities will happen in that space.
