3 Taichung Distillery was built in the era of Japanese occupation. This building, with more than eighty years of history, is currently Taiwan's most long-standing winery. It is an industrial ruin of historical significance and cultural memory and it contains very rich historical and cultural resources. This plan will save the historical architectural style of the original winery as the main body, and will become part of the main TADA building while retaining the features and characteristics of the original building, and can integrate the function and character of the old industrial space to create a unique new art space.

The entrance retains some existing elements, so that the visitors can first discover the historic story of the winery at the very beginning of their visit. The new look is rooted in the old tradition and context to create a dialogue. Part of the building retains the original walls of the old structure, the carport, the guardhouse etc. This is combined with new buildings and materials such as: glass, structural hardware etc.

Step 1. Use of water imagery throughout the whole park is the starting point for shaping an impression of clear water

Step 2. Entrance uses waterfall imagery. Captures the form of the original winery build -ing.Use of the fusion of modern styles.

Step 3. Irrigated land 1.Irrigation plays a role through the art world, the design community and construction industry to re-nourish the land from the inside out. It continues through exchanges and discussions, sparking a wave of ripples and gradually spreading to the surrounding areas, and then covers the entire surrounding environment.

Step 4. Planning the semi-open public space surrounding the winery entrance 1.A concave Plaza, three meters deep. The interior floor is glass, raised on a network of antique wine flagons. 2.A sloping seating area where people can watch a show or a take part in a seminar.

Taichung Gaomei Wetlands Wonderland Ecological Park Taichung 2007

The Gao Mei Wetlands. The Tachia River joins the sea just north of the wetlands. Estuarine and marine waters meet at the intersection, thus creating a unique intertidal zone environment. A project in Ching Shui Zhen has created a pipe which transports u organic wastewater to the Gao Mei Wetlands where it provides the benthic organisms with an important source of nutrition. This is a diverse habitat: wetlands, a tidal creek, marsh, sand, gravel, mudflats .....but this bleak environment breeds a wide range of a considerable number of benthic creatures.

Process Potential environmental clues, to be analyzed and categorised, are placed in a real environment. These spawn a new observation order which can be a basis for the development of design.

Step 4.Object & Tool After analysis of the remaining status of the object, there is a passing through of a simple natural assembling, reverting to its original state , which then produces the tool mechanism.

Step 1. Fragment Fragments of images are present in the environment, in the overall operation, and are revealed by a single message. Through the assembling of the image fragments the structure is gradually revealed. Different fragments and the development of an order to them, lead us to the interactive relationship between the natural habitat and public amenities.

Step 2.System The operation of the system is hidden in various regions

Step 5.Biological Mechanism

Interaction between different fragments of the sequential development: the relationship between ecological habitat, public facilities and development.

A tool mechanism for responding to the state of the environment, which is to some extent analogous to a biological behavior; material exchange within a particular boundary, similar to how an organic virus belongs to interaction with DNA within a boundary.

Step 6.Keyword Model The mechanism will reinterpret the key word, so we go back to the real environment to test the situation of the mechanism operation. Keyword deduction lets the existence of the boundary become gradually blurred. It is no longer just a simple straight line, but will change with the everchanging environment.

Longitudinal Axis of Public Facilities III Ecological Education Exhibition Hall This area will become an eco-educational experience Exhibition Hall, providing mainly ecological observation and experience, as it would not be appropriate to allow visitors to enter the Gaomei wetlands directly. By providing activities, close to the wetlands, which recreate the ecological experience, damage by tourists to the Gaomei ecological zones can thus be avoided.

National University of Kaohsiung Administration Building Competition Excellence Award

An image of the unmovable mountains reflects the symbol of the eternal campus spirit, translated into the lines of the building, beats like an artery in the design of the architecture, inspired by the situation of people living in a spatial environment, a symbol of perception is a design syntax to process the subject of the pulse which beats within the new architecture, and creates a main core of the scenery, a campus image, which leads us into surroundings which transport us to a the mountain landscape that symbolizes the campus spirit.

Skin Material On the building’s façade a random number of grill shades reduce the sunlight resulting in an effect similar to the mottled light in a forest, and the low-E glass effectively blocks out the direct sunlight from the west, thus reducing the indoor temperature.

The public space between the structures becomes the most interesting space in this project. Sunlight leads the way, and the connection between sectors and floors, and the winding paths of the building bring fresh air and light inside.
