JUDSON UNIVERSITY WORSHIP CENTER
Designed for the campus of Judson University and the surrounding community, this 40,000 s.f. worship center seats 1,000 occupants. The design focuses on creating a sense of community by becoming a centralized node on the campus. A gathering space is created by a semi-circular west facade to promote campus events. Trinity windows are expressed on the exterior that give the worship center its identity. A clerestory runs the length of the nave that terminates at the altar end, highlighting the axis mundi. The concrete and stone were chosen to give a sense of monolithic strength to the structure.
MINIMAL HOUSE
Designed for three different locations, this minimal house keeps the same form and plan while changing its skin based on its location in the world. In Gambia, natural ventilation is allowed by operable windows and screens that provide uniform natural daylight into the spaces. In Chicago, thermal mass is achieved through concrete that fights the hot summer sun while absorbing the winter sun. In Mongolia, the house gets embedded into the landscape for thermal exchange from the earth. With subtle material treatments and design moves, the versatile form allows the house to fit coherently into its context, whatever the climate may be.

GENEVA PUBLIC LIBRARY
Designed for the city of Geneva, this 30,000 s.f. library provides a container for public knowledge. The design focuses on the engagement between the book and user and the sequence of events that take place after a book has been chosen. The stacks are placed in a rational manner that lead to lower reading areas set over the water. The reading areas seek to provide unique views over the water and a quiet, calming space for reading.
DISASTER RELIEF SHELTER
Designed for a competition hosted by World Vision and held by John Brown University, this relief shelter is derived from a simple concept of stacking triangular shapes. This group project allowed my concept to become a built object. Seeing a concept come to life and become tangible was a challenging but educational experience.

HURRICANE KATRINA
El Salvadore Earthquake
Hurricane Katrina caused widespread devastation along the central Gulf Coast states of the US. Cities such as New Orleans, LA, Mobile, AL, and Gulfport, MS. Total property damage was estimated at $81 billion.
2010
2005
2001 A landslide occurred during the El Salavdore earthquake. With a magnitude of 7.9, 108,261 houses were destroyed with another 169,692 houses damaged and more than 150,000 buildings were damaged.
In Port au Prince on January 12, 2010, an earthquake hit Haiti with a catastrophic magnitude 7.0 Mw earthquake. By 24 January, at least 52 aftershocks measuring 4.5 or greater had been recorded. An estimated three million people were affected by the quake.
TECTONIC + SPATIAL EXPLORATIONS
These projects focus on the design basics of spacial relationships and the tectonics that form those spaces. They emphasize the importance of the design process from beginning to end.
MODELS
These works show how craftsmanship is important in understanding physical models and how attention to detail can bring a project to life.
