We Salute Our MILITARY HEROES with Gratitude and Respect!

WE SALUTE THE COURAGE, HONOR AND BRAVERY OF OUR VETERANS TODAY, TOMORROW AND ALWAYS. WE ARE SO GRATEFUL FOR OUR MILITARY SERVICE PERSONNEL, PAST AND PRESENT, AND THE FAMILIES WHO SUPPORT THEM. Veterans' Rock

, located at 605 S. Greeley Highway, Suite 1 in Cheyenne, Wyoming, is a non-profit that assists veterans and active duty in need through supportive services that build towards self-sufficiency. Supportive services include providing food, clothing such as winter gear, furniture, emergency shelter, transportation, phone and computer access, laundry and shower facility, document retrieval and storage, selfsufficiency plan development, and advocacy. Veterans’ Rock provides everything a veteran may need to have a fresh start, at no cost to them. “We decided we needed to jump in and pick up that lost service for our veterans. So, we did, and now we are Veterans’ Rock” said Cindy Stockdale, Veterans’ Rock Board President.

Not only can veterans get the supplies they need to make life easier, they can also come and talk to someone in a safe place.

According to Veterans’ Rock, none of this would be possible without the community’s constant support of generous donations and volunteering their time. Since opening its doors in July of 2020, Veterans Rock has helped 479 veterans! Veterans’ Rock is open Tuesday – Friday from 10am – 4pm, and on Saturdays from 10 am – 2pm. If you would like to find out ways you can help, call Veterans’ Rock at (307) 514-0035, or visit their website at www.veteransrockchey.org Rise Foundation Of Wyoming is having a Thanksgiving Food Drive for military members and their families. Hunting with Heroes Wyoming's NOVEMBER

mission is to give back to our nation's disabled veterans by honoring them with unique hunting, fishing and other outdoor experiences. They provide a healing environment where disabled veterans are welcome and supported - a community where they can discover hope again, no mater what battles they continue to fight physically or emotionally. Every year Hunting with Heroes guides around 300 disabled veterans in Wyoming with a disability rating of 50% or more. #1 Properties very own Codee Dalton, Heather Morgan and her husband Art Flores, and Dave Coleman help with this wonderful program. Codee Dalton has been with the organization the past 6 years. "I have been blessed to meet many amazing Veterans, and what I have learned is that everyone has their own struggles and battles and this opportunity to hunt with Hunting with Heroes provides so much more than many of us can imagine." Veterans can have struggles with mental health, physical health or both. Coming together with fellow service members, sharing struggles, successes and everyday life with each other Laura Kelley & Codee Dalton - 2022 brings them normalcy in a world where many may feel all alone and forgotten. These Veterans come excited and are able to return home post hunt with new ideas, new skills, and new friends. These men and women enjoy each others company, build bonds, all in the beautiful Wyoming outdoors. An added benefit is they get to bring home organic meat for themselves and their families. The Veteran can also choose to donate the meat to Wyoming’s First Lady’s, Jenny Gordon, hunger initiative called Field to Table and works with many processor’s around the State to bring food to our neighbors in need. For some, these hunts come naturally and for others they may struggle a little more. So many emotions can boil over when you get ready to shoot a big game animal. Yet, the common occurrence in each Veteran is conquering a task and the feeling of accomplishment. There are handshakes, smiles, hugs and yes even sometimes tears. "I can tell you for me, it is hard to match the feeling I get when I watch these Veterans accomplish their mission" said Dalton. DID YOU KNOW? Wyoming’s first National Cemetery, The Cheyenne

National Cemetery, opened in 2020 and serves as a place where veterans can be laid to rest and honored for their sacrifices. The Cheyenne National Cemetery is one of 155 national cemeteries across the United States that is managed by the VA and covers the costs of a gravesite, a government headstone, U.S. burial flag and other costs. The 5-acre national cemetery is located on Hildreth Road just northwest of Cheyenne, and will serve the burial needs of more than 22,000 veterans, their spouses and eligible family members who live within a 75-mile radius of Cheyenne. Previously, Wyoming was one of a handful of states that did not have its own national cemetery.

Veterans who are buried at the cemetery will be sent off with a playing of Taps, a rifle detail, a color guard and uniformed service members who present the burial flag to fully honor their sacrifices, according to officials. The Cheyenne National Cemetery is open daily from sunrise to sunset. The City of Cheyenne is currently working on the plans to pave the road and construct a new parking lot. “In the United States, we honor our veterans, we honor our servicemen, and we keep their memories alive, and this is the place where we’re going to do it here in Wyoming,” said State Veterans Commission Chairman Travis Deti.

Congratulations! Tom Bass, who has close ties with the Wyoming Honor Flight program, received the 2023 WTE Community Spirit Award! As president of Wyoming Bank and Trust, Bass felt it is his duty to give back to the community. He has graduated from Leadership Cheyenne and Leadership Wyoming, served as president of Cheyenne Kiwanis Foundation, has 20+ years of volunteer service, served as a board member of 11 organizations and committees, which all lead to Bass being the recipient of the 2023 WTE Community Spirit Award.

Bass' favorite board that he served on was the WWII Honor Flight Wyoming chapter. Honor Flight is a national program that flies WWII veterans from all over the country to visit the WWII Memorial in Washington D.C. "We got 650 Wyoming veterans to D.C.," Bass said. "And they didn't have to pay a dime. We raised all the money, we chartered the jets."

Bass' father served in the war as a B29 pilot and died before the WWII Memorial in Washington D.C. was complete. Helping veterans to see the Memorial was Bass' way to give back for his dad's sacrifice. "To me, it was kind of like getting my dad to see it," Bass said. "It was very special to me." #1 Properties would like to say "Thank You" to Tom Bass for all he does for our wonderful community and "Congratulations" on his very deserved community award!
