LORI HOROWITZ

Lori Horowitz is a NY native. In addition to her studio art, Horowitz has worked as an arts educator, scenic designer for theatre and television, and as a curator and gallerist. Each has brought new perspectives and informed the development of her artwork and career while deeply connecting her back to the artworks she makes, and to the viewers who experience them. 28"H x 22"W x 28"D | 2020 sculpture, drawing and photography and pushes inventive methods to reflect her message. Using eclectic techniques and materials, Horowitz explores the overlooked interactions between individuals, exploring their social disconnect as well as common humanity. Her work unveils facades and penetrates issues revealing their underlying truths and addresses topics of belonging and the need to find a place in society.

Since 2016, Lori Horowitz has shown extensively with eleven solo exhibitions. She has participated in over 75 national gallery and museum group shows. In 2016 Horowitz opened a not-for –profit ArtSpace, “Studio 5404”, to encourage the spread of cultural arts, serving the central south shore of Long Island. She showcased artwork of more than 400 artists. As an independent curator, and former curator/director of Studio 5404 Art Space in Massapequa, NY, she curated over 20 shows and continues curating independently. In 2019 and 2020, she participated in two residency programs in Bushwick NY and Havana, Cuba. Currently, she serves on the board of directors for two not-for-profit arts organizations as Exhibition chair for the NY Society of Women Artists and the Long Island Craft Guild. She has representation internationally by Galerie Ludwig Trossaert and her work has been featured in the NY Times, as well as local and international publications such as 1340 Art International, Azucar and Apero Magazines and many local New York publications. She is recently a featured artist by Zeitt Blatt media group, video and magazine out of Paris in Berlin, Amsterdam and Paris.
