ANNOUNCING THE ARRIVAL OF TAKUMA TANAKA TO

Nyc This Fall

Artist Takuma Tanaka, a highly acclaimed Japanese artist, is pleased to announce his arrival in New York City. Tanaka is set to showcase his dynamic and multidisciplinary works of art in a series of exhibitions and activations throughout the city, introducing New Yorkers to his unique style, influenced by his Japanese heritage and cultural background and the powerful influence of artists such as Jean Michel Basquiat. Tanaka probes the formal techniques of his predecessors through the lens of a new pandemic-ridden contemporary world. He studied art theory under Blum & Poe's contemporary artist Kenjiro Okazaki who provided foundational discussion and ideas on robotics, landscape design, and architecture. Throughout the artist's twentyyear career, Tanaka has continued to alter his painting techniques by exploring facial structures, portraiture, immersive landscapes, and architectural still-life geometry continuing to create an art world of his own.

This diversity of styles and mediums has earned Tanaka many accolades, and his works have been featured in galleries internationally such as The Wall Art Gallery in Miami last December during Art Basel.

"I'm thrilled to bring my artistic vision to New York City," said Tanaka. "The vibrancy of this city and its rich artistic heritage is truly inspiring, and I'm excited to collaborate with local artists and exhibit my work to audiences here."

Tanaka's works will be on display across the city, starting on in September 2023 with a formal presentation at the Salmagundi Art Club, along with pop-up experience with street and local artists. Visitors will have the opportunity to experience his art firsthand and engage with the artist on his unique melding of traditional and contemporary Japanese art.
