Grateful for You, and an Invitation

As we approach Thanksgiving, we at Make It Better Media have so much to be grateful for — our hardworking team; our families and friends at home; and our community here in Marin County, from small business owners to first responders and educators. With National Philanthropy Day nearing on Nov. 15, we’d especially like to say thank you to our county’s many nonprofit organizations that are working tirelessly to make our community a better place for all to work, live and play. Your efforts inspire us to tell your stories in our magazines and on our websites to spread the word and encourage others — we hope — to similarly strive toward bettering our everyday environment. It’s virtuous circles like these that are at the heart of Make It Better Media’s mission.

To that end, on behalf of Make It Better Foundation, we’d like to invite you all to attend our virtual event on Nov. 18, broadcasted live from Casa Madrona Hotel & Spa in Sausalito, when we honor the recipients of our 2021 Philanthropy Awards, who we’ll also highlight in our upcoming December issue. These dedicated nonprofit organizations are truly making a difference with the work that they do. You can register to attend the event at marinmagazine.com/webinars.

We'd also like to share some great news that Lotus Abrams, formerly our managing editor, has taken on the role of editor in chief at Marin Magazine. She's excited to continue to highlight the people, places, businesses and causes that make our county truly special.

As always, we aim to entertain, inspire and inform with our content in this, our Thanksgiving issue. On these pages, you’ll learn the historical significance of our county’s Native American namesake, “Chief Marin,” and the impact he and the Miwok people have

There is so much more content to explore on our website, marinmagazine.com; social media channels, @marinmagazine; and in our Better Letter newsletters. And as you gather around the Thanksgiving table this year, at celebrations large or small, we hope you’ll feel our gratitude to you, our loyal readers, as well. Thanks for making our work even more meaningful.
