NEXTDORE IS AT THE CUTTING EDGE OF INTERIOR DESIGN INNOVATION. WE SPOKE TO MANAGING DIRECTOR NICK DORE AND GENERAL MANAGER SHARON MOORE WHO TOLD US ABOUT THE EXTENSIVE RANGE ON OFFER IN THEIR CHRISTCHURCH SHOWROOM.

Nick Dore’s grandfather started the family business 60 years ago and specialised in carpet and linoleum. The company’s reputation for quality and innovation has led them to move beyond flooring to also become a leading destination for tiles, countertops, timber, blinds, shutters, wallpaper and soft furnishings. “We offer a full, cohesive design service, where form meets function,” says Nick.

Nextdore has been located on Montreal Street in Sydenham for many years. Within days of the 2011 earthquake, that the showroom was renovated for a new look and has since grown further, along with the company. The light-filled space with its industrial concrete walls and high gabled ceilings is staffed by a team of 14 interior designers who work with customers in the showroom. “People travel from all over the country to visit our showroom,” says Nick. “It’s a source of inspiration for the range and the design.” Beautifully defined display areas reveal the extent of Nextdore’s range, showcasing a cutting-edge selection of interior products.

With one of the most comprehensive tile collections in Christchurch, Nick says the company’s ability to stay ahead of trends in the industry has made them a go-to destination for tiles. Nick and the team select tile ranges from Europe, even in the past year where selections have been conducted over Zoom calls. Nick is particularly proud to supply the prestigious Porcelanosa tiles to the Christchurch market..

General manager and interior designer Sharon Moore has been with Nextdore for over 20 years. Nick describes Sharon as “An appreciated asset.” There is a great working relationship between the two managers, and the brevity of their long-standing friendship is infectious. “It’s a great place to work,” says Sharon. “We’re a very tight team and have recently brought in some new designers who bring an exciting fresh energy.”

The showroom sees a broad range of customers from home build companies, architects, interior designers and home renovation clients. When talking about how residential customers come to them, Sharon says, “Some people will come in looking for advice on carpet and then decide to book in with our team to have a cohesive design scheme created for their home.” The aftersales care offered by the team is all part of the service, and Nextdore makes it their business to ensure that customers are always happy with the end result.

Nextdore offers a full range of design services, from house plans to large builds. The in-house team arranges the manufacture and installation for all domestic and commercial projects. The pricing is competitive to suit a broad range of budgets, from entry-level living to grand designs.
