In the current Christchurch market around 50 to 60 percent of homes are selling on auction day. “Homes are still achieving good prices; they’re just taking up to five weeks to sell, and some go by negotiation after the auction,” says Michael.

While the market may have slowed a bit, Michael still recommends listing homes by auction. He also encourages conditional buyers to come to an auction, in case their dream home is passed in, with potential for negotiation.
