PURO VERANO….. The Joys of Summer. This is a time of year in Costa Rica where the full transformation of Costa Rica as a destination is perhaps most evident. Having lived here for 25 years, the days when “summer” which corresponds with Costa Rica’s Green season, meant communities void of any real tourism flow or energy. How times have changed. Costa Rica has become one of the world’s top destinations for families looking for iconic experiences in one the most beautiful and biodiverse environments. With the North American Summer travel season, we also get to celebrate the amazing fusion of cultures which is also such an important part of our love affair with this amazing country. Far from just a places whose natural beauty overwhelms anyone blessed enough to visit, Costa Rica’s warmth and depth of personality is perhaps best appreciated when cultures, traditions and the friendly nature of its people are on display.
In July, we celebrate with Ticos and “gringos” alike the 4th of July in one big happy family. Costa Rica’s Independence Day is in september and it is so amazing to see the expats a tourists here during that time honoring CR and its history. The same goes for the 4th of July when BBQ’s and the traditions of the US summer July 4th activities pop up all over Costa Rica. While just one example, it is this fusion, respect, warmth and welcoming nature of the Costa Rican people which is perhaps even more overwhelming to experience than the stunning natural setting. At the end of the month, Costa Rica will have its own celebration for the national holiday for the Anexion de Guanacaste, or moment in history when the important province of Guanacaste, became a part of Costa Rica. Now one of Central America’s hottest tourism and investment destinations, this province was made a part of CR on July 25, 1824. As anyone who has lived here knows. Ticos never miss a good chance for a celebration and the traditions surrounding the Anexion de Guanacaste are some of the most fun all year round.

The real estate market in Costa Rica continues to be strong and steady. While rising interest rates in the USA and world have an immediate effect on the absorption rates in markets where the vast majority of sales are financed. Costa Rica’s traditionally cash marketplace has seen much more stable growth trends. This slow growth has made Costa Rica a value on the global market and investors from around the world are seeing Costa Rica as a safe and beautiful place to invest. The incredibly tourism demands is creating great vacation rental income opportunities and Costa Rica’s impeccable reputation and growing popularity is also making for solid equity opportunities for investors. Quite simply, there has never been a more dynamic time to invest in Costa Rica and despite the economic news in the world at large, our real estate market here continues its steady and solid growth.
