JINS As people have shifted to working from home- screen time has increased straining our eyes and increasing the need for glasses and/or repairs. JINS Toronto is an optical retail store proposal located at 165 John Street- reimagined for shopping safely during a pandemic. The exterior shell of channel glass illuminates the interior with soft natural light. The store encourages physical distancing with wider paths, a separate space between customers and staff, contactless ordering, and a rentable second floor gallery space and pop-up kiosk for local businesses to share their products.

HYPERREAL MODEL The goal of the project is to explore and convey “atmosphere” and “affect” through photography and hyper-real physical models. My chosen space is the living room on a sunny day just as the sun is about to set. “Atmosphere” and “affect” can easily transition between two scenes simply by light. For example, warm light creating an atmosphere similar to that of a hot day close to a lake. The warm atmosphere fills the room creating a unique experience. Attention to detail is important when recreating these spaces in a 1:20 model.

GANBARU Ganbaru, in Japanese means “to work hard“ or “to persevere.“ Ganbaru is a proposed co-working space and a boutique hotel located at 296 Brunswick Avenue, Toronto. A co-working space on the first floor and guest rooms above. The open floor plan with plentiful seating accommodations creates various social spaces for any occasion, with bar seating, Japanese tatami seating, etc. The size and shape of the building is emphasized with long linear pieces of furniture and vertical wooden slats.

CREATIVE MATTERS, OPEN + CLOSED A group project to propose a redesign of the current Creative Matters site which reframes opportunity for users to instantaneously enclose or open their environment in relation to one’s optimal workplace. Interior curtains are employed as flexible partitions, deliberately shaped and placed to form instances in which these double as projector screens or backdrops for product photography. Selective colour blocking define key spaces, creating a visual contrast with the interior space.

WINTER STATIONS COMPETITION PROPOSAL A collaborative project with a peer and a Professor as an advisor. We created proposals to submit to the Winter Stations Toronto 2021 Competition. Winter Stations contest requires the temporary winter art installations proposal to incorporate the existing lifeguard towers on the beach. The proposal, titled “The Yellow Box“ - is constructed from a rectangular wood frame, coated with translucent yellow acrylic, and anchored to the existing lifeguard tower.

ROBOT x HUMAN COLLABORATIVE DESIGN From a design workshop hosted by Toronto Metropolitan University with a group of Interior Design and Architecture students. We were tasked to use Rhino 3D and Grasshopper to explore various design iterations and program a robot to assist us in design, fabrication, and human-robot build of a full-scale wooden block wall.
