ABSORPTION
Absorption & Diffusion Absorption
Diffusion
Absorptive materials soften DIFFUSION reverberation and dampen sound energy in a space. Absorption is ideal for loud conference rooms or open spaces where people congregate.
Diffusive materials scatter sound energy and reduce reverberation. Diffusion can increase the effectiveness of absorption and works well in narrow hallways or perpendicular to an absorptive surface where the scattered sound can then be dampened.
138 Resin Material Design Guide | SOLA FELT
Seeyond Cusp, Nickel
Hush Clad Nickel
Clario Nickel
É‘w Alpha w is a weighted measurement of how well a material absorbs sound energy ranging from 0.00-1.00. Increased absorption performance across the spectrum of tested frequencies is expressed by bracketed letters: L (Low 250Hz), M (Medium 500Hz and 1000Hz) or H (High 2000Hz and 4000Hz).
SOLA FELT | Resin Material Design Guide 139
— — SOLA FELT
Utilising PET Technology for Good PET, commonly found in water bottles, is recycled into pellets that are then extruded into thin, soft fibres. Layers of these fibres are then pressed together to create a sheet of sound absorbing Sola Felt.
