April is dedicated as the Month of the Military Child to help celebrate and honor the children of our community. We applaud these resilient and amazing individuals and look forward to celebrating this special month with you! Be on the lookout for fun events and activities listed throughout this month’s Grapevine.
HELP US FIND
Meet Vini, the grape! He’s taking over this month’s issue while the Wyvern is on vacation. He’s hiding in various places throughout the Grapevine.
The first SIX kids (ages 3-12) that find ALL the Vinis will win a fun prize! Ask your parents to email us at 31fss.marketing@us.af.mil with a picture of your answers below. Hint: Pages 2 and 3 DO NOT count Fill in the page number in the spaces below.

The Wyvern is on Vacay! Our wonderful Wyvern is on Spring Break and enjoying some much needed self-care. Don’t worry folks – he’ll be back next month! In the meantime, enjoy finding our little friend, Vini, throughout the Grapevine! More details on page 2. It’s fun for the whole family!
See you later!
Congratulations, Brandy Ross, for winning last month’s drawing! The Wyvern was located on page 22 in the AYP section, on the suitcase above one of the handles.
Get your camera ready! Send us a picture of you, your friends, your family, or even your pets for a chance to be featured on the cover of the next Grapevine. Please be sure the photo is high-resolution and in a portrait orientation. Submit your photos to the Marketing Department at 31fss.marketing@us.af.mil.
On the cover is the beautiful Skye Douglas, the soon-to-be-six year old daughter of SSgt Shawn Douglas (31 MXG) and Chery Douglas and big sister to baby brother, Sebastián. Photo by Bethany Erby at Bethany E. Photography.

CRISTINA CAPRIATO
Ms. Cristina Capriato has been a valued member of the Airman and Family Readiness Center since October 2017. Her dedication, innovation, and creative program development span through the community as she continues to enhance A&FRC partnerships that support community needs. When the revamp of Heartlink was proposed, Cristina embraced the challenge and increased participation by 200%. Cristina is an integral member of the Design & Unwind Team, and she recognized the power of autonomy by revamping the traditional A&FRC Volunteer role to increase professional development. When the Wyvern Warrior Volunteers experienced technical difficulties, she researched options and the necessary resources to ensure the continued success of the Wyvern Warrior Dolls Project. She recently established Aviano Key Spouse operation procedures by creating an accountability tracking system to ensure continuity, compliance, and shared access. Cristina is known as our social media guru and has enhanced the A&FRC Facebook page, while creating a monthly e-newsletter to increase awareness of events and opportunities for Aviano.

PARTNER SHOUTOUT Hats off to 31st Civil Engineer Squadron’s Power Production and HVAC Teams! In June 2018, local commercial power to the entire Area D recreational area went down and was awaiting parts. The Power Production and HVAC teams rose to the challenge and put Area D on generator power so we could ensure the area could still be used as anticipated by our customers. This innovative idea solved the issue short-term, but required extensive staffing hours to start and stop the generator for every reservation. When the weather turned cold and required heat, HVAC staff also had to be present for every reservation to make sure heat and hot water
was available. Frequently, the CES “on-call” personnel had to respond to enable power and heat very late at night. Eight months later and after 244 reservations of Area D, the local power company restored commercial power. Thank you to 31 CES crews for allowing us to continue customer service to the Airmen and families of Aviano! You personally enabled birthday parties, meetings, squadron morale picnics, baby showers, Scouting events, lifeguard classes, homeschool lessons, and BBQs for Aviano’s personnel and families. Thank you!
Bringing delicious food to the flightline area to enhance our support of Team Aviano! Recognizing the need for food options for flightline personnel, 31 FSS took on a project last September to bring a food operation to the flight line. The Community Services Flight jumped into action to identify potential options, partnering with 31 FSS Resource Management Flight and the 31st Contracting Squadron to help this dream come to reality. Government contracting can be a long and arduous process, but the team was able to develop a plan, seek vendors, and solidify a contract in only six months! The fantastic teamwork and energy resulted in securing Ricky’s Street Food, set to open for business on April 1 — and no, this 24 isn’t an April Fool’s joke!
