Customer Appreciation Week is back at Aviano!
THE HOLIDAYS ARE HERE! Check the back cover for FSS Facilities’ holiday hours.
Find the Wyvern! Look for the Wyvern for a chance to win a $25 31FSS gift card! E-mail 31fss.marketing@us.af.mil with the page and location by the 15th of the month. Check inside the cover each month to see if you were last month’s winner! Hint: The Wyvern is blended with its surroundings and isn’t on page 1, 11, 24, or 27. Congratulations, Natasha Valdez, for winning last month’s drawing!
On the Cover...
In honor of November’s special moments of gratitude, we recreated Norman Rockwell’s oil painting, Freedom from Want, also known as The Thanksgiving Picture. Of course we couldn’t resist the opportunity to put our own spin on this historically significant photo, incorporating the Vini family, mascot characters of The Grapevine. From our families to yours, Happy Thanksgiving!

TEAM OF THE
MONTH The 31 FSS Marketing Team recently celebrated completion of their 1,000th marketing request since the beginning of 2019! This small team makes a huge impact on Aviano Air Base. As the advertising agency for 19 FSS MWR facilities, Marketing manages all publicity and promotions g for FSS events, large and small. The rketin S Ma S staff has streamlined daily processes and regularly F 1 3 gone above and beyond their mission. As part of a effort to rebrand 31 FSS, the team’s graphic designers built from scratch a new monthly magazine — The Grapevine. The team runs a fast-paced print shop and is constantly developing new and innovative campaigns in support of the squadron’s strategic business initiatives. Marketing has also secured thousands of dollars in advertising contracts and commercial sponsorships, proudly contributing to the MWR Nonappropriated Fund and keeping more dollars in Airmen’s pockets. From their regular on-air segments at AFN Aviano to their weekly presentations on the Newcomers Tour Bus, the Marketing Team keeps spreading the word far and wide about upcoming FSS events. Kudos to Marketing for all their hard work!

FAVORITE DRINK AT DEJA BREW?
HOW DO YOU CONTRIBUTE TO THE AIR FORCE MISSION?
Black coffee, it makes my mustache grow faster.
I am lucky to be able to tell other Airmen’s stories who have gone through tough obstacles, have unique experiences, or make an impact on the mission. I also get to know them, formulate questions, conduct interviews, film, and edit them to produce a quality video product.
DO YOU PREFER THE DRAGON OR WYVERN FITNESS CENTER?
FUN THINGS YOU LIKE TO DO WHEN YOU’RE NOT WORKING? Working out and looking for new ways to improve myself. All you have to do is grow 1% per day and I live by it.

SSgt Jones is assigned as a Food Service Supervisor at La Dolce Vita Dining Facility. She leads a team of 14 military and 13 local nationals serving over 8,000 meals generating $53,000 in sales. She has been recognized as the DFAC’s Sharpest Knife Award winner, coined by 3rd AF Commander, and deployed to Croatia in support of a 606 ACS mission, which captured the 31st FW Team of the 2nd Quarter. In support of HIGH BLAZE 2019, SSgt Jones was responsible for producing 36,400 meals resulting in $231,000 sales. During the exercise, a freezer failure occurred. Thinking quickly, SSgt Jones oversaw the redistribution of 8,000 pounds of subsistence avoiding a $100,000 loss with no interruption to service, receiving a letter of appreciation from the Royal Netherlands Air Force Commander. On top of all of this, SSgt Jones recently left for a six month deployment. We wish her well and look forward to her return.
