THE GRAPEVINE Team of the Month

The Fitness team is leading the way with its versatility and flexibility, while rapidly adapting to the ever-changing CV-19 guidance. The team is continuously transforming operations for Wyvern Nation through a myriad of ways, such as deploying the Beaver-fit, offering outdoor workout stations 6 days a week, safeguarding $45K of equipment and re-writing the fitness guidance. As a result, the team's ingenuity supported 10.5K joint military for 138 hours a week, despite CV-19 restrictions. Additionally, the Fitness Assessment Cell provided 280 hours training for 20 UFPMs/98 PTLs and certified 4 units on CPR & AED, in preparation for the upcoming Air Force fitness assessment. Moreover, the Fitness Center team collaborated with the 31st MDG in hosting the FLU & CV-19 vaccine line, securing 3.2K mission essential military with critical vaccinations. Furthermore, during this month the Fitness Center executed an "equipment refresh", replacing 85 pieces of equipment and re-allocating/redistributing 120 fitness items across the Wing and supporting 42 units/GSUs. Finally, the reopening of the massage therapy center served over 75 satisfied customers while generating $6K in NAF revenue.

Mrs. Valentina Ganis excelled in her duties as the Italian Mensa restaurant's Operations Clerk. During this period, Mrs. Ganis managed the schedule of 13 local nationals, facilitated the delivery of over 10K meals, and thus generated over $70K in NAF revenue. Additionally, she led the $60K coffee bar renovation, to include an ice cream display, refrigerated drawers, stainless steel appliances, LED lighting and an audio system that projects through ceiling speakers. She spearheaded the grand reopening of the coffee bar, including a new breakfast option with pastries and American style coffee, to re-vitalize the financial strategy and bolster the MWRF. Finally, Mrs Ganis worked closely with base protocol, the legal office and FSS leadership to deliver the first ever fully catered, 4 course meal, to the 3 AF/CC and base leadership. Mrs Ganis was lauded by the 3rd AF/CC, base leadership and coined by the 31 FSS/CC for her efforts.

Sponsor of the Month

Senior Airman Steven Felix from the 31st Civil Engineering Squadron was assigned to welcome three Airman to Team Aviano over the last month. Transitioning overseas can be challenging in itself especially if it is an Airman’s first base; with COVID-19 in the background, the difficulty only increases. To smooth out the move, Amn Felix jumps right into the foxhole with along his inbound teammates and is supportive every step of the way from start to finish. Steven shines by dedicating hours of his personal time to ensure that all arriving members have the items needed. He continually communicated with all parties to mitigate issues even when flight delays occurred, which made for a streamlined easy in-processing time. Steven also provides multiple food deliveries, removes trash, assists with medical needs, and ensures a daily a connection is made with his new colleagues. Additionally, after completion of 14-day ROM, Steven guides his crew to required appointments in order set them off on the right foot. The self-motivation, attention to detail, and enthusiastic attitude shown, creates a welcoming feeling for our newly arrived Wyverns Teammates. Awesome work Senior Airman Steven Felix – Thank You
