AUCTION MART RULES FOR VENDORS
The Shepherd in charge must bring their respec�ve lots forward, take them to and from the Sale �ing, a�end un�l delivered and assist in trucking if required as the Auc�oneers will be responsible only for what is delivered to the purchaser. Should the Shepherd not be in a�endance at the �me his lots fall to be sold, it will be passed over and taken at the end of Sale. All Stock will proceed in the order of the Catalogue and all lots not previously entered will be sold only when the list is �nished. All purchases to be se�led for and taken delivery of on the Day of Sale. No stock can be removed without a Pass. Purchasers should see that their Stock is correct before leaving the gates, as no deduc�on can be made a�erwards. No Private Sales prior to the Stock being offered by Auc�on will be allowed or recognised by the Salesman. The usual commission must be paid on consignments sold privately within this �arket. �very assistance in loading or keeping overnight, for the accommoda�on only of Buyers, will be arranged, as far as possible, by the Auc�oneers, who will not be responsible for loss or damage incurred thereby.
METHOD OF SALE
All sheep will be sold in guineas (105 pence) and in catalogue order, unless any change is announced by the Auc�oneer.

The Club welcomes new members and look to a healthy expansion in the future with a commi�ed membership. Catherine Parker will be pleased to discuss details of joining the club to anyone wishing to become a member.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF SALE
1. All animals will be sub�ect to a veterinary inspec�on. Their decision is final.
2. Animals ��ST be in the auc�on by no later than 9.30am for the veterinary inspec�on. �n the event that the vendors misses this deadline they will be responsible for the call out fee of the vet to come back and inspect.
3. All sheep will be sold sub�ect to the condi�on of sale of the Bri�sh Texel Sheep Society (By-�aws 11 � 12) and to the Auc�oneer’s �eneral Condi�ons �f Sale, which are available at the auc�oneers o�ce.
4. Sheep will only be accepted into the market and penned for sale if they are accompanied by an o�cial �� status cer�ficate completed correctly.
�. All sheep will be iden�fied with a lot number hung around their neck.

7. Some straw will be supplied in each pen, if the vendor requires any more it is their responsibility to take their own.
8. The auc�on mart will be open between 3pm -6pm on Saturday 10th August 2024, should you wish to go and set your pen(s) up ready for your animals to enter on the Sunday morning.
9. Any vendor that is travelling from afar and staying locally the night before the sale, must make arrangements directly with the auc�on mart, should they wish for their animals to stay there overnight.
SHOW RULES
1. The first class of animals must make their way to the show ring at 8.30am prompt.
2. Each vendor may submit a maximum of 2 animals per class in the show.
3. Any animals entered in the ‘natural born’ class will be verified as en�tled to be there.
4. Prize money and trophies will only be awarded if the prize winning animal is sold through the sale ring.
�. All trophies ��ST be signed for at the auc�on mart o�ce. Any trophies not signed for will be retained by the Club Secretary.

The Texel Sheep Society provides data collection and performance reporting services to its membership. From 2024, the service and evaluation combines pedigree and genomic data to provide indexes that are simple to use and understand.
In simple terms: higher value = more profit per lamb
The texelplus economic indexes support the breed’s development with an increased focus on commercial traits and profitability. The TERMINAL and REPLACEMENT INDEXES reflect the breed’s influence on industry. Both are presented as the potential extra profit per lamb born in a commercial setting, compared to the population baseline.
Expected change in profit per terminal lamb born
The TERMINAL INDEX supports increased profitability through improving prime lambs and is weighted strongly for meat production. The REPLACEMENT INDEX includes additional maternal traits to optimise production of female replacements.
Commercial producers solely producing prime lambs should use the TERMINAL INDEX to inform their selection; however, those retaining female replacements should use the REPLACEMENT INDEX.
Sub-indexes underpin the indexes to provide more information on the relative values and ranking of animals for growth, fat and muscle weight, and reproduction.
An example
High ranking rams deliver over £4.50 per lamb more than lower-ranking rams. Over a ram’s working lifetime, this is easily worth an extra £690 per ram; generated through shorter finish times and improved carcass quality.
