Background In recent years, more and more markets and groceries actively promote self-checkout, thereby reducing personnel costs and increasing a bigger shopping surroundings to customer. However, after our empirical observation, we found a shopping behavior is not just confined an event or activity DURING the shop. It must be considered to include BEFORE and AFTER purchase, such as housewife usually made a shopping list before and keeping accounts after. Therefore, our priority is to develop a product giving customer a better experience of shopping, and to assist mall owners getting higher efficiency simultaneously.
03
Design Thinking We intially used mindmapping to unfold the whole process of customer will do during shopping, then collected a variety of scenario which may be further discussed. Afterwards, we started to integrate the problem which is most worth to solve for customer and shop.

Emergency treatment Many asthma patients are usually neglected to carry their bronchodilator outsides.
24
Interview
Respondent: A retired head nurse at Taipei Veterans General Hospital for 27 years Q1. How to diagnose asthma? Peak Expiratory Flow (PEF). It not only assist asthma patients to check their status at home by themselves, but usually used to diagnose the rate flow in the hospital.
Q2. Apart from PEF, are there other equipments to diagnose? Oximeter (monitoring oxygen saturation, SO2) Stethoscope (ckecking the pulse and the sound)
Q3. The difference among pill, formoterol inhaler and bronchodilator? Mild patient may just take pill, but moderate to up should regularly take inhaler regularly. Bronchodilator is for emergency use.
Q4. Special attention for asthma elderly in daily care? According to each patient’s medical record, give the appropriate medicine. Moreover, memory degradation problem leads to forget to take medicine, so always reminding is important.
Q5. Special attention for asthma elderly in emergency? 1. Because of physiological function degradation, they are difficult to use inhalator. 2. Asthma makes the throat tight and breath hard, so they are hard to shout for help. 3. They need more time to recover.
25
Q6. Emergency rescue procedures for asthma? 1. Give them medicine. 2. Assess their condition. 3. Emergency rescue and inform their family if necessary.
Q7. The primary cause of death of elderly asthma? Neglected daily care, and forgot taking the inhalator in an emergency. The both habits indirectly affect the rescue time before entering the hospital.
Q8.Is there any telemedicine service has been used currently? We have Medical Cloud which can save each patient’s medical record and treatment timeline. It can help doctor to know patient’s status online.
The current problems of emergency treatment 1. Rescue time is precious. 2. Forget carrying emergency medicine. 3. Difficult to use correctly in a short time. 4. Hard to seek help by shouting. 5. Overdose and repeated medicine use.

Background Crowd, is the more unavoidable and unpredictable variable on the trip. In addition, according to each one’s age, personality and status will individually generate different emotion and action. For example, young people will curiously observe what they are doing then follow the crowd to queue, but adult may avoid this atmosphere when carrying their children. As a result, we start to think is there a new way to inform tourists the crowd situation in the near area? Thus, ToJoy was born. Crowd Analysis Calculates crowd situation in the near area.

ERGONOMICS Studies for human-factors and the factors related to products used by human including ergonomics and psychological elements.
Ergonomics Study on New Cutter Design Ergonomic Cutter, Aching Physical Part, Holding Post
Designers / Po-Hsuan Wang, Jou Li, Jo-Lin Yang, Chung-Yi Huang, Po-Jen Yang, Hui-Hsin Lu Date of Creation / 2014
4th International Symposium of Transport Simulation / ORAL
66
Background The form of cutters currently available on the market has not been particularly designed. Most of them are thin and straight. The people who are long-time users of a cutter for works usually experience pains and aches in wrists and knuckles due to improper gestures and poses.
67
Motivation In this study, a cutter which is easy for users to apply froce and helps reduce burden to hands is proposed in terms of ergonomic research. The purposes of this study are as follows: 1. Analyze the cutters which currently available on the market. 2. Observe the problems encountered by the long-time users of the cutters. 3. Design a new type of cutter which helps reduce injuries to hands of the long-time users.
68
Analysis of the existing cutters
69
Definition of Requirements According to analysis of the existing cutters our design is based on these main points: 1. Thumb placement 2. The space between the forefinger and the thumb 3. Increased contact area at the back of the handle A concave incline is more comfortable for a thumb to cling to while holding the cutter in a pen-holding style.
A curve is provided for the forefinger to naturally hold so as to reduce burden to it.
The downward and thicker end strengthens solid hand-holding.
70
Prototype
Prototypes Process
71
We fabricate three prototype with different style to analyize what type of from is fitter and more comfortable for users. Thus, we choose the university students of the department of architecture as our respondents, because they are the long-time and frequent users of a cutter. Therefore, we discovered people would have two methods of holding a cutter, Pen-holding style and Forefinger style, as shown below two images.
a. Pen-holding Style
b. Forefinger Style
Focus group study
72
Different angle of cutters, from 25 to 45 degrees
73
Revision Secondly, we continuously made three different angles of the cutter to examine what angle is the most comfortable for work. In this part, our method was to cut a 2mm thick piece of paper using two different postures, we would then observe the handle and the stress of the hand. After testing we would ask the participants to point on a picture the parts that felt uncomfortable and give them a score from 1 to 5. 2mm

Normal Cutter
Pen-holding Style 1. too much pressure from the forefinger leads to bending 2. The cutter offers no support for the hand
Forefinger Style 3. too much pressure from the forefinger leads to bending 4. No place to comfortably rest the thumb
Modal B ( 25 °)
Pen-holding Style 1. the forefinger needs to curve a little
Forefinger Style 2. The hand touches the paper
77
Modal C ( 35 °)
Pen-holding Style 1. hard to handle at the space between forefinger and thumb 2. it is best suited for people with bigger hands
Forefinger Style 3. the surface area of the cutter is too large
Modal D ( 45 °)
Pen-holding Style 1. hard to handle at the space between forefinger and thumb 2. Users exert more force while holding.
Forefinger Style 3. the back of the cutter is too large
78
Conclusion After further analysis we discovered that this preference was directly influenced by the size of the hand of the test subjects. The 25 degree is less thick than the 35 degree. As such, It’s more suitable for a user who has a smaller hands. In turn, the 35 degree is better suited for people with larger hands, and this is the final result of our research in redesigning current cutters.
79
Pen-holding Style The 25 degree is designed with the smallest thickness. It is suitable for the user who has smaller hand and holds a cutter in the pen-holding style. Advantages: light, easy to control, smaller size and angle.
Forefinger Style The 35 degree is designed with a thinker handle. It is suitable for the user who has hands of middle or large size and holds a cutter in the forefinger style. Advantages: the shape of the cutter fits the hand well, the angle and thickness is ergonomic.

Problem Clinical urine tests are various tests of urine for diagnostic purposes. The most common is a urinalysis (UA), one of the most common methods of medical diagnosis. The word is a portmanteau of the words urine and analysis. However, each year, millions of people understand their physical condition through urine routine in hospital or home, many of them are patients, children or physical challenged. But there are still simple urine collection tools nowadays like a paper cup with a tube, and usually result in a mess.
83
Interview
We wnet the hospital and interview the nurse to know what the situation is and how to work now. Continually, sort out some problems by a series of experiences and experiments to redesign a new urine collector.

Except directly touching urine, indirectly the warm temperature also lets us feel uncomfortable.

Stack
We usually fold a angle in order to pouring smoothly, but actually it is hard to do with a test tube and our pants.
This problem is not only in storage but also in trash can. a huge amount of space waste also lead to environmental problem.
This design should have the handle and funnel features though extra cup sleeve design, let users can collect and pour without messing our hands. It Not only provided a more comfortable experience but also considered productivity and stack flexibility.

Background In Taiwan, there are lots of dye workshops all dedicated to promoting the natural dye. However, because of the difficulties of the collection and production, we still hardly see this craft is implemented in our lives nowadays. For the existing market, customers can only experience the natural dye via some local workshop or school curriculum. Because of this, we discovered this old business model caused the challenge of promotion of the natural handicraft simultaneously.
95
New Opportunity Therefore, We cooperates with Taiwan farmers and workshops to develop a group of packages to popularize this beautiful process. Hoping people can regard this natural art again in Fast fashion.

Designer / Po-Hsuan Wang, Chaio-Chun Ni, Yan-Jie Liao Date of Creation / 2011
108
Background
In this project, we combined Chinese chess and Taiwan historical building to promote and narrate our culture and story. our team selected 14 Taiwan famous buildings, from the skyscrapers to historical sites, the temples to the bridges. In addition, the river divided into two sides of Taiwan building, so player can choose to play the northern or southern to defeat another side.
What is Chinese Chess (Xiangqi)? The game represents a battle between two armies, with the object of capturing the enemy's general. Distinctive features of xiangqi like a rule prohibiting the generals from facing each other directly or areas on the board called the river and palace.
