Better do both, experience both and learn year after year. Costs are obviously an issue, but due to supporting sponsors, this is only temporary an issue and could be solved.
One needs a competitive car though, and that is costly to ship in a 20” container from Co- lombia all the way to Port Klang in Malaysia. However, over the years of participation the team already established a good relationship with a local Malaysian 4x4 enthusiast, who is renting out his competition vehicle to Jorge and his team.
The team consists of Jorge Sanchez as the driver,..as the co-driver and as the technical and moral support. They were joined by their family fan club of Jorge’s wife and. Well, there are more, but virtually, connected by social media as the team is continuously posting on social media whenever network is available, so the entire 4x4 community in Colombia is able to cross fingers.
The preparations are progressing. The stickers of the Colombian sponsors are placed all over the car, literary no space is left. Oil is checked, coolant is filled up and all grease nipples are properly greased. Bolts and nuts are checked for tightness, electrical compo- nents are tested and final adjustments are done to optimise the most crucial part of this upcoming adventure in Malaysia at the Rainforest Challenge 2022 again, the car.
But Jorge and his team have experience and expertise, they joined the Rainforest Cha- llenge already back in. for the first time. And this year they will likely crack it again. The award, though without a trophy, for the long-distance travelled is definitely Team Colombia, 19.023 kilometers or 10.265 nautical miles airline.
