ZIL CULTURE CENTER Year: 2014 Location: Moscow Type: interior in existing building Function: bar, shop, theather foyer This project is about focusing on an important existing building that has several ovelapping and conflicting layers of architecture, design and culture. The design process is based on research to draw original conclusions relating to the design and materiality. The basic concept of this project is the reuse of old materials, zoning and morphogenesis of furniture. The theatre hall is divided functionally into three parts this is a bar, shop and exhibition area with sofas, armchairs and tables. This furniture was designed based on the original furniture of the thirties the Vesnin brothers. As floor materials were recycled and used for zoning (creating a smooth color transition from one part of the hall to another), and covering the new surfaces. The building (1937) was designed by Alexander Vesnin who, alongside his brothers was a key figure in the international Constructivist movement.

REPRESENTING SPACE Year: 2013 Location: Moscow, ArtPlay Type: interior in a chosen space Function: apartment The essence of this project is to learn to understand the space through its negative state. There was a task to find a room, measure it and create a cast. At this point, the beginning of this room was treated not as part of the building but as an independent structure. And it was necessary to create the interior depending on the scenario that you create for this site. I created an apartment for one person because my room is very small. But it has a high ceiling, which made it possible to add a second floor. The second part of the project is the creation of the stand where the cast should be placed. The lighter the cast, the higher it should be located. My task was to minimize the surface stand to gain visual ease of construction.

CONSTRUCTION DETAIL Year: 2014 Type: construction Function: wall, door, window, chair Group project: Frolova Kate, Nesterenko Lera, Balykina Anastasia The goal was to create a constructive detail which concluded in itself four elements. These elements are a wall, a door, a window and a piece of furniture. Each team member develops one element and then to join these elements together. Moreover, the design should be built by hand and independently. Our installation is based on principle of existance where each object consist of smaller particles. This interactive pavillion our understandion of recursio where objects consistently fold into each other creating the impression of repeating items in a self-similar way. Repetative shapes of the chair in the window, the window in the door, the door in the wall. This method allows us to reduce the amount of used materilas and still demonstrate all elements and functions.

PASSAGE Year: 2013 Type: pavillion Function: architectural model Material: plywood This project aims to play with metaphorical perception of architectural forms through the statements of properties that the object must have. There was an expression of ÂŤfrom light to darknessÂť which I had to expressed in the form. The shape of this model appeared after studying the forms of Scandinavian architecture early the twenty-first century, which has a very broken form with a lot of corners and bends. The transition from light to dark is made by increasing the number of holes in the walls. Passing through the passage visitor undergoes the experience of interaction with breaking space is lit with varying intensity. The very passage has unprotected top, but it also has a place where to escape on the sides.

CHAIR SCULPTURE Year: 2013 Type: sculpture Materials: plywood This project is one of 3 distinctive outcomes. The first is a redymade, the second is sculprural work and the third one is a usable chair. During this project a was experinmenting with balance. And I tried to find a form that would change the position of a person from lying to seating by a single hand movement. In this project, I was trying to find a shape, which could have two function depending which side it is layed on. Books are a good heavyweight object that control the balance of the sculpture.

THRONE Year: 2013 Type: chair Materials: pine wood, nylon rope This project is one of 3 distinctive outcomes. The first is a redymade, the second is sculprural work and this one is a usable chair. Specifically this chair takes its shape from an experiment with a sculpture of a chair (as described in the previous project) and not of the parameters that would be useful to the human body. Despite this, its performance is very comfortable to use due to the high landing and soft weave. On my example shown only option of weave and color, but anyone can customize this chair for yourself by changing the pattern of weaving and the color of ropes. Additionally it is also possible to lace the feet of the surface which will make the sitting even more comfortable.

Chair description
It is nylon rope. It has a lot of advantages such as strength softness, variety of colours and availability.
All angles were processed using a grinder, there are no sharp angles so it is nice to touch as well as putting your head on it.
These are drilled holes for additional pitches to change some parts of the chair depending on a user.
Reinforced with screws.

RUBBER PAVILLION Year: 2013 Type: pavillion Materials: pine wood, rubber This project is the result of an attempt to understand how the term ÂŤrhythmÂť can be expressed in architectural form. I explored the rhythm from different sides. This concept is found in the visual arts, in music, in the cycles of nature, people and life in general. This pavilion was conceived as an architectural expression of a musical instrument. More than 5,000 rubber bands, stretched on frames create tension and sound that privlet people to interact with the object. In addition, these gum has a completely different interaction with the space when a person needs to push them to go inside the pavilion, where there is no obvious entry and exit.

GLASS GRADIENT Year: 2014 Type: material investigation Material: glass Function: panel (could have more) Architecture starts with materials, therefore we need to investigate what our materials can do. This projects is aimed on physical making, prototyping and testing as central component of developing knowledge about materials and their characteristics. Framework for this project is a panel with a gradient transparency. And the main objective of the study is how to achieve a smooth transition from transparent to opaque, which processes glass may undergo and what characteristics it has. Experimenting with glass, I have come to understand that to really study the physical properties of the glass, you need to put it under high temperature. I bought four pieces of glass for fusing of different transparency and put them in a special oven for 24 hours to separate the pieces of glass are mutually penetrated each other.

PHOTOSCHOOL Year: 2014 Location: ArtPlay, Moscow Type: interior in existing industrial space Function: Faculty of photography The main task of this project is to clarify the requirements and develop a design for an emerging Faculty of Photography within British Higher School of Art & Design. The interior is a former factory building. The project aims at re-functionalizing an extraordinary architecture but its point is also to reinterpret the concept of the ‘educational building’ under a contemporary perspective. My solution to this space is based on zoning, where studio placed in the center and is the cornerstone of the entire faculty. Photo Studio is designed as a transparent box, which is divided into parts that can be separated from each other by special hedges. During the preparation for photography students and the public can watch the process, which is usually hidden from outsiders. Around this box classrooms, library, restaurants and other related facilities are located.
