Tanzanian students shine at the Aga Khan Academy Mombasa
Khushi Bajaria was awarded the first IB Student Innovators’ Grant for her project ‘Innovation in Practice' which aims to ensure that local schools with inadequate funding can have access to affordable and environmentally-friendly laboratory apparatuses such as microscopes, which in turn improves learning experiences.
Arya Abdul’s project “A Step Forward” focused on creating affordable and environmentally friendly walkers for the elderly and disabled communities in her home country of Tanzania. Arya is the Academy’s fourth recipient of the IB Innovators’ Grant.

The Aga Khan Academy Mombasa is the only IB school in Africa to have received the Dr Siva Kumari MYP Student Innovators’ Grant grant every year since its inception in 2019.

Aminaz Kachra is one of many swimmers who are a part of the strong swimming programme at the Aga Khan Academy Mombasa. She represents Tanzania in national and international swimming championships and has won several medals for her country.
