There’s still time to make a tax credit contribution There is still time to make a tax credit contribution to Laveen schools and reduce the amount you owe on your 2015 taxes! Tax credit contributions are used to support character education and fee-based extracurricular activities such as after-school tutoring and clubs, academic enrichment, field trips, fine art programs, and athletics. For every dollar you donate, the amount you owe on your Arizona taxes will be that much less. The tax filing deadline has been extended this year, to April 18, due to an Internal Revenue Service observed holiday. Visit http://www.laveeneld.org/tax-credit/ for more information.

The Little Hawks and their families had the opportunity to follow a recipe to make a bubble solution, and create their own bubbles. Employees of the month for March are Minerva Villa, Desert Meadows 3rd grade teacher, and Mike Shelton, Vista del Sur maintenance lead. Villa is a strong, influential teacher. She is passionate, innovative, and positive. Her students are the clear definition of her influence upon the Desert Meadows community. They present themselves in a dignified manner, speak eloquently, and use the tools given to them to become successful. To her colleagues she is a tornado of positive influence. Shelton goes above and beyond to ensure the Vista campus is in pristine condition. He walks through each classroom to be sure it is ready when students arrive. But, his contribution to Vista goes beyond picking up trash and attending to staff requests. Shelton spends lunch with the students in the cafeteria assisting them with their lunches, cleaning, monitoring students, and sharing jokes. He is loved by all Vista students as evidenced by the hand written notes he has received thanking him for his hard work. April 15, 2016
