Laveen voters pass bond

Memorial dedicated at Trailside

Laveen joined 24 other school districts in Maricopa County where a majority of voters approved school bond and budget override elections on November 3rd. The $42 million bond will fund the construction of new schools, acquisition of school sites, purchase new buses, maintenance of facilities, and the enhancement of security across the district. Laveen Schools are very grateful to have the continued support of the community and the willingness of voters to invest in the future of our students and the quality of education in Laveen. With the sustained funding cuts to public education in Arizona over the past several years, the support of the local community makes all the difference.

Trailside Point’s NJHS dedicated a memorial bench in remembrance of student Jorge Jasso who died this past January. The NJHS chose the location in front of the Trailside Point library, because Jorge loved knowledge, learning new information and reading books. NJHS president Jasper Smith, opened with remarks and Nolan Landas, an NHJS member and best friend of Jorge, provided an inspirational message for this memorial tribute. Jorge's mother spoke of appreciation and love the family feels for Trailside Point with this memorial.

Cash students clean up neighborhood M.C. Cash once again partnered with the city of Phoenix, Toyota, and Chicanos por la Causa for Barrios Bellos, a Cash community clean-up on October 17. To encourage participation, all students had the opportunity to participate in a Barrios Bellos poster contest. Students were encouraged to draw posters of their visions for a clean community. A group of judges selected a winner from each grade level. The first 200 students who submitted pictures received a plant at the clean-up. .
