I’M NOT A PROBLEM GAMBLER Article by Darren Connolly I openly disclose I gamble four days a week, I have never once gambled with money that I, or my family need to live. I never chase my losses or get violent if I am on a losing run, but why do people still turn their noses up at me when the controversial discussion of gambling pops up? The society we are in is entirely flawed, the minority of people who bet cannot control their limitations, everyone is being tarred with the same brush as being a problem gambler. I work five days a week, my job is in racing. I adore everything that comes with racing, however I think the so-called problematic gamble fiasco is not as big as the government would suggest. There is no money for educating, or health but there are ample enough funds for dictators to go to war. Brexit means Brexit, that’s exactly what it means, more scare mongering tactics to stop our progression in society. We are all being treated like children, “oh that’s bad, don’t do that”, surely at some stage our own common sense has to kick in. “People endure drink problems, that doesn't People suffer problems on all board-walks of life but the mean everyone that drinks regularly is extremity of saying having a automatically an alcoholic. The same principle punt on the horses is bad for your health is absolutely should be used for gambling” preposterous, in some cases people shouldn’t gamble, those with a clear problem, but that shouldn’t affect me, or put my situation under the irresponsible adult bracket. I for one am somewhat peeved off at having people under-mind my life because I enjoy a flutter on the gee-gee’s regularly. I think people’s one-sided opinions are the main problem here not the gambling industry. I would safely say the fun has already stopped for all the gamblers in this modern day world we live. Going to the bookies is seen as bad as cheating on your beloved wife.

“Gambling is constantly categorized as being an epidemic to civilization, nobody can openly bet frequently and not be branded under the problematic gambling banner”

We all know how critical clean air is to your horse’s overall health, happiness and performance, but the equine environment is a challenging place to maintain it.

Examine the floor for depressions that are or could become places for urine to accumulate, along with the unhealthy ammonia odours that come with that. The floor underneath your matting will harbour The essentials of hay and bedding bacteria and moisture so it’s imbring an inherent respiratory risk portant to let it dry out completely. of dust particles to the stable. This is especially true in winter, when stable doors and windows can be kept closed to keep out the cold and wet but are also prevalent during the summer when your horse may spend time stabled due to the heat and flies. Air quality Your horse's airways will benefit from being kept in a clean environment If your horse has a nagging cough that’s proving tricky to diagnose - poor air quality could well be the cause, but there are things you can do to help. The first step toward clean stable air is the messy process of shaking loose dust and dirt from beams, corners and behind doors, equipment and matting. While you’re doing this, all horses should be turned out well away from the stable. Mind your own respiratory health, too. Consider a surgical mask or tie a bandana over your nose and mouth to keep out the big particles. Start at the top. Use a broom and ladder to rid the rafters of spider webs and nests. Nesting birds might seem harmless guests, but they’re also disease carriers. Work your way down each stable wall, looking for loose nails, splintered wood and other dangers. Plan ahead to strip stall bedding near the end of its life cycle. Remove rubber matting and pressure wash

of its respiratory risks. By injecting high volume steam, at a temperature exceeding 100°C, thermal hay steaming chests from Haygain reduce breathable particles up to 99%. The process also kills mould, bacteria, fungal spores and mites, providing much cleaner air for you and your horse. Keeping his bed clean Similar air quality benefits start at ground level. Daily removal of manure and soiled bedding is the obvious starting point, but thinking beyond that to what’s underneath the bedding and matting is the key to long-term clean air. ComfortStall is a sealed flooring system that's good for you and your horse's health

Check your hay quality Getting the stables clean is one thing, and keeping it that way is another. Happily, many challenges can be mitigated by proactive yard management. Hay, for example, is one of the biggest culprits in poor air quality. Even the highest quality, most expensive hay arrives with spores, bacteria and allergens that compromise equine respiratory health – and yours, too. The Haygain steamer provides much cleaner hay for your horse Checking hay before buying it, or on arrival, for discolouration's or odours that indicate mould is an obvious first step. Next is storing it in a well-ventilated, rodent-free area, separate from where the horses live. Bales should be elevated off the ground to prevent moisture accumulation. Steaming is the best way to rid hay

A best option is a wall-towall impermeable flooring sealed to walls like that from Haygain, the revolutionary ComfortStall® system. The cushioning reduces the need for bedding to only that necessary to absorb urine. Less shavings or straw bedding equals less dust. And, the easy removal of urine-soiled bedding prevents build-up of urea and bacteria that leads to ammonia, a major airway irritant. The initial cost is quickly recouped by decreases in maintenance and bedding expenses and easier breathing too. Ventilation is a horse keeper’s best friend in maintaining clean air in the stable. Capitalise on it by making dust, debris and cobweb removal a regular part of yard routine, minimising its quantity in circulating air. LIFE’S A BEACH FOR COSTELLO Interview by Darren Connolly

We exclusively caught up with Dougie Costello to get all his post-race analysis on this somewhat unique Co. Meath race-day, where his shorts and shades didn’t look out-of-place. The Laytown races. Tell us about your experience at Laytown? There’s a great atmosphere similar to most Irish tracks. The racing people in Ireland are unbelievable, they love the horses and are real racing fans asking for photos & autographs. How does it compare it other tracks you have ridden at? You can’t real compare it to any other track, It’s 100% natural laid sand. For me as a rider it brings me back to my pony flapping and point to pointing days, changing in a marquee with no showers and the banter between the Jockeys is great. Still no winners yet on the beach? I’ve hit the crossbar the last two years however next year I am hopefully to get on the scoreboard, here’s hoping. I have been at Laytown the past two years with Melbourne 10 and my boss Jamie Osbourne, I know

how much hard work they put into getting there, jimmy Mac and all the staff do serious work. So, to be a small part of it all is unbelievable. It’s not all about winning. What does it take to get a horse to win at Laytown? You need a horse with high cruising speed, that stays above his trip and enjoys the water, to get a winning horse on the beach. Being connected with the Melbourne 10 lads how did that come about? I met all the boys in San Mortize racing on the ice, we automatically clicked. Then back in the UK my boss Jamie Osbourne used me a lot that summer and we had plenty of luck /winners, he asked me would I be interested in riding for Melbourne 10 more regularly.

A little in-house joke with Melbourne 10 syndicate is that they offered me a retainer position at the beginning, and I thought it was a joke, so I turned them down. Ian the boss of the syndicate never lets me forget it. They are great owners to ride for because they know the chances are like as owners, they will lose more money, than they will make however win, lose or draw the Melbourne 10 lads always have a great night. Would you like to see more beach racing in the UK? At the moment we have too much racing in the UK but something like Laytown would certainly give horses / jockeys & owners a change, and occasionally a change is better than a break. My home town of Galway has some great beaches, and plenty of local trainers would jump at the chance to support it.

THE JOCKEY NEEDS HIS WHIP Article by Darren Connolly

The current whips are lightweight, foam-cushioned, nothing like the old fashioned cable whips which people envisage are still in use. there is an obligation for all jockeys to carry a whip, there is no requirement on riders to use their whip. For example, your horse is drifting out to its right, a jockey will put the whip in their right hand and give the horse a tap on its right hind quarter, that should straighten them again, but visibly some have a mind of their own. The whip may be used to encourage a horse to have the horse focused and concentrated to perform at its best but the stimulus provided using the whip must be limited so as not to compromise the welfare of the horse.

Ryan Moore is the man who uses his technique to get the best out of horses by using his hands in rhythm with a horse’s stride. My main point is that the whip doesn’t hurt horses, the whips are completely tried and tested to safeguard they don’t harm thoroughbreds. It’s the noise it makes that the horses respond to more than anything. As for banning the whip, I think it would be a treacherous thing to do, that is the equivalence to giving a formula one driver a vehicle without a steering wheel. It just wouldn’t be feasible.

The jockey’s whip has been much disputed for numerous years, industry specialists have proclaimed it is more of a safety measure.

The whip issue is ultimately worse though in other countries. Such as in America where I find some jockeys are using it far too much they call it the “windmill whip” were they repeatedly whip the horse, that conduct is banned over here.

Our best jockey tends to not use the whip as often as other jockeys. Kieran Fallon had a way of getting horses to lengthen by whistling in their ears. Nowadays,

ZERO TOLERANCE: ON DRUGS Feature by Darren Connolly

It’s cheaper than ever to buy drugs. Narcotics are being flogged at pocket money prices at the racecourses. Many people will also choose to consume various illegal substances in pursuit of a good time at the racecourses. Regardless of their personal choice to break the law, most would agree that they should not have to die for it. The horse racing authorities have a moral obligation to minimise the risk of harm to racegoers and “jockeys”. Health professionals have the technology to act on this moral imperative – drug testing. What they don’t have is authorisation from our law agencies and racecourses to enforce this.

“If any persons who are snubbing drugs test they do not warrant being allowed access into the racecourses” The fact is they would rather the situation to get worse before they put actions in place. Why not place a more fear in drugs users at the racetracks, if not for their own good, make it for the safety of the other people and families in attendance.

There has been some evidence shows that drug dogs may increase harm, as frightened drug users hastily consume large quantities of drugs to avoid detection. Amnesty bins are a must for all racecourses, containers should be placed at entrances to the courses, this gives the option of drug users to dispose of their illegal gear in a “responsible fashion” before they get stopped and seized. This stance – an absence of political permission – may lead to the preventable deaths of more racegoers in the future. It is time for our politicians and police, alongside the individual racecourse to adopt measures to support the health of people. Drugs at the racecourse is a bigger problem than the authorities would lead you to believe, blindly denying the presence of drugs at racecourses is naive. The concept of drug testing at the entrances is the significant factor to a safer environment for everyone. Many people will say these measures are too drastic, or perhaps intimidating however that is far from the fact. Drugs are an issue, and it needs dealt with accordingly, before it gets out of hand.

THE TROLLS AREN’T IN CONTROL Feature by Darren Connolly

The recent surge of social media tipsters has got slightly overwhelming. There are no shortage of free horse racing enthusiasts eager to get their opinions across.

Why anybody finds the consistent urge to torment and knit-pick other people’s life on a regular basis is beyond my rational reasoning. If you don’t like what you see, not wasting anymore time with it would be the practical answer however rational thinking is certainly not a trait these trolls possess.

With the good tipsters, there is always going to be the appalling ones, nevertheless using your own judgement is still very much obligatory. These breeds of free tipster are striving to get their name out as being a reputable tipster however they are being intimidated into submission by the acrimonious internet trolls preying on their every tweet and sniping at every word they speak.

Social media freedom of speech rule is an utter joke. To much lee-way is given to this type of scum however the best way to avert hostility with trolls is to overlook their insignificant abuse. Block them and let them at it. As nothing you can say is going to ever get sorted with this type of lowlife.

“Zero responses to them, and more usage of the block button is the only way to over-ride these bad apples in the cart”.

Internet trolls “social recluses” crave attention perceptibly they have a lot of time on their hands based on their relentless social media rants. Feasibly their negativity is more based on the life they live and are taking it out on an easy target which just happens to be tipsters.

At the end of the day somethings are never going to change, the internet has given these small-minded individuals some kind of shield that they feel safe taunting and abusing others in the safety of their mother’s living room.

REVELEY NEEDS MORE SUPPORT Article by Brian Toomey

SWEENEY IS A SAFE BET Article by Darren Connolly

“Horse racing has long been associated as a money-spinning sport, principally due to the colossal money tangled in keeping one sound and being good enough to win” The small trainers in Ireland frequently go under the main-stream media radar, perhaps their stories don’t sell papers however their capabilities are unquestionably equal to the bigger stables, if not better. Co. Cork based handler Jonathan Sweeney is the perfect example of an under-estimated trainer, predominately known as point-to-point trainer however his ability to THE ENTIRES place his thorough2017/18 – 3 wins from 14 entries breds in worthwhile 2016/17 – 3 wins from 16 entries races on the track has 2015/16 – 2 wins from 12 entries certainly caught my 2014/15 – 1 wins from 9 entries eye. Sweeney stands by his THE PRIZE MONEY motto “Quality over 2017/18 – €34,438 quantity” his 2016/17 – €52,325 small-scale operation 2015/16 – €34,988 in Kildinan is gradually getting noticed for 2014/15 – €7,090 their attention to detail, as you can view from the all-important statistics Sweeney has serious potential as a trainer. As you can work out from above from above Sweeney has had 51 entries on the racecourse, with nine of them winning giving him a winning strike-rate of 17% however that figure doesn’t tell the whole story. The most extraordinary achievement to his portfolio to-date is the of €128,241 prize-money which he has attained. that’s an outstanding level

which this go-getting trainer is working at. Getting noticed from the bottom certainly isn’t ideal however this determined trainer has kept his head down, and firmly kept his eyes on the prize. Sweeney has taken advice from others within the industry, as well as incorporating his own methods into training thoroughbreds obviously from scrutinizing his past results, he is on the right path for future goals. Smaller trainers in Ireland are operating on a show-string budget, they cannot go out and buy the exceptional pedigrees, they must obtain the best results from what they are given, trainers comparable to Sweeney are using common sense methods and working alongside their owners to guarantee a return for their investments. As in the game at a lower level, if you don’t get results, you don’t get a second chance. Sweeney won’t need a second chance, as visibly he has all the right traits into becoming one of the leading trainers in Ireland. This forthcoming season it would be foolish to underestimate any of Sweeney’s battalion at the racecourses, he is confident of plenty of many more successes, his team have got bigger and better. Sweeney has two things on his mind ”Keeping the horses sound, and getting results”. Sweeney is currently endeavouring to setting his first racing club which has been priced accordingly to suit all budgets of ownership. Money is prevalent issue when joining a racing club however not with Sweeney’s club, everything is transparent what you see, is what you get. Sweeney Is a hardworking trainer destined for the top, it’s definitely is a safe bet taking a gamble on his abilities as a trainer

FUTURE CHAMP: ROBBIE DOWNEY Interview by Darren Connolly A wise man once quoted “Nothing beats hard work and determination” that quote is comparable to Co. Meath born jockey Robbie Downey, who has done nothing but improve from his 1st winner at Dundalk back in 2013. TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF? I’m 21 years old, and I’ve ridden 101 winners to-date. Most recently I’ve turned freelance. HOW DID YOU GET INTO RACING? My father would have worked with Liam Browne and Seamus McGrath years ago as an apprentice but hadn’t a very good career as a jockey. So, he went to work in stud farm. And got me a pony in Smithfield horse-fair in Dublin when I was about four year’s old. We’ve been ponies buying and selling since then. I got involved in pony racing when I was 13, it’s all spiralled from there. WHAT WOULD YOU CHANGE ABOUT IRISH RACING? For me the atmosphere at Irish tracks is very poor unless there bigger days. A lot of places do well and seem to attract a crowd but the majority in my opinion are very dull Leopardstown and Naas do well with their bands on after racing, that always seem to attract a crowd. I just think the atmosphere seems very dull. HAVE YOU EVER BEEN

TARGETED BY NET TROLLS? Yes, internet trolls are become very familiar these days and I’ve been contacted by a few internet trolls, I take no notice of them. IF YOU WEREN’T A JOCKEY, WHAT JOB INTERESTED YOU? If I wasn’t a jockey I don’t know what I’d be doing, as I never finished school so it’s a very hard one. I’m sure I’d be in the industry in some way, or another. HOW DO YOU STAY IN SHAPE? I do a lot of running, also boxing training a couple of nights a week with Clane or Dunboyne boxing club. There is great coaches down there, and it’s is a brilliant sport to keep you fit and strong. WHAT ARE YOUR AIMS FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE SEASON AND THE WINTER SERIES? My main aims would be to ride as many winners as I can over the winter series and keep momentum going for the following season. FAVOURITE RACETRACK? It’s very tough over here to get good rides as a lot of their yards have their own preferred jockeys

however I always do well around Dundalk, so hopefully my agent Kevin O’Ryan will get me on a few fancied ones. GIVE US A HORSE TO FOLLOW? Soffia would be my horse to follow I’ve won 3 on her including a curragh maiden. She went on to win a big handicap on champions weekend and I think she could progress to be a black-type filly next year, she’s in great hands with Eddie Lynam who does well with sprinters HOW DO YOU UNWIND AWAY FROM RACING? I’ve a good gang of friends and I like to go over and hang around with them whenever I can there’s always something to do WHAT QUOTES DO YOU LIVE YOUR LIFE BY? A closed mouth won’t catch any flies would be a good one, but I think hard work pays off would be my favourite one.

INDEPENDENT BOOKMAKERS Article by Darren Connolly

Irish independent bookmakers are noticeably struggling keeping up with their counterparts further afield, and the biggest obstacle is yet to come.

I am not suggesting matching the bigger firms in the industry, although offering something back as a gesture is better than nothing? The pitch fees at racetracks are colossal, for the very minimal returns they receive at the every-day The bookmaking industry regularly maintain “they’re meetings in Ireland, also the bigger festivals give a on their knees”, they have had an exceptional time false reading of the fact “There’s a worrying big of things, this past fifty years however now it’s time decline in betting ring punting”, however yet again they re-think the previous tried-and tested business instead of addressing the crystal clear problem they model. continuously sugar-coat the situation. The younger generation of race-goers seldom If the Irish horse racing regulatory body decides to actually have a bet on-course, they are well clued-up get Wi-fi installed in all the tracks, the reign of the on their swanky mobile devices, having their own independent bookmakers in the betting ring will elected online bookmakers, that is more than cease to trade, they aren’t prepared to equivalent prepared to give them more of a run for their cash, the online offers or the shop promotions, so what repeatedly offering them money back offers, free chance do they ultimately have? bets, as well as the all-important best odds It’s very sad, as I personally relish having a bet in the guaranteed, which rarely is received on the Irish betting ring however as the saying goes “He who tracks, surely their liabilities can stretch to that? refuses to learn deserves extinction”, the That’s a colossal chunk of the market that the independent bookmakers can’t fault anyone but independent bookmaker is losing out on, they want themselves and the regulatory bodies are only to take the punters money however aren’t interested concerned in accommodating the big players within in giving anything back. the industry.

STAKING PLANS: BET GORILLA Sign up today - www.betgorilahq.com

Bankroll management is probably one of the least talked about aspects of gambling, however in many ways it is one of the most important, if not the most important. This is because a gambler might be one of the best on the planet at knowing when they have an edge, but simply not making any money due to a terrible staking plan. Here we delve into all aspects of bankroll management. We start with an explanation of how you can fall down with a bad staking plan despite a good record. We move on to look at different staking plans – finishing by suggesting what we and many others consider to be the best method. There are many people who know their racing inside out, who would actually make money through gambling, but fail to because their staking is so haphazard. Consider a gambler who places 5 £10 even money bets on a given weekend – out of the first four bets three have won, so they are now £20 in profit. The final bet of the weekend on Sunday night sees them place a £20 bet, which loses. The weekend has finished level, despite the gambler winning 3 and losing 2 even money bets. This situation could be worse – the same gambler might have had all of the first 4 bets win and gambles the £40 profit on the final game which loses. Here, they’ve made 4 winning selections and 1 losing one, but they still haven’t made a profit. It could actually be worse than this. They might be £40 up after four bets, and then gamble more than £40 on the last game considering that they were willing to lose some money on the weekend anyway, so they ‘go for it’ on the last game. They place £80 on the last game which loses – they are now £40 down on a weekend where they had 4 winners and just 1 loser. As a gambler reading this, you will probably find at least one of the above scenarios familiar, in the past I have certainly ‘enjoyed’ all three scenarios. Bankroll Management Plans There are a number of bankroll management plans that can be used, although there are generally three that you’ll find suggested as the best to use – the Kelly Criterion, the Percentage Method and the

Fixed Staking Method. I detail each plan and explain why I consider the Fixed Staking Method to be the best of the three. The Kelly Criterion The Kelly Criterion is a formula used to determine the optimal size of a series of bets. Using this system, bets should be sized to maximize the expected profit, so the greater your edge is, the higher your stake should be. There is a somewhat complicated formula to the Kelly Criterion – two of the factors in the formula being the ‘probability of success’ and ‘probability of failure’. This means that that to use it effectively, you’ll need to know these figures exactly, which is extremely tough when betting on sport – however, some claim that if you can accurately predict this, then this might be your best method. The Percentage Method Using this method you’ll bet a set percentage of your bankroll every time you place a bet. We highly recommend this method. The percentage you’ll use is your choice and might be dependant on the types of bets you place. For example, if placing many even money bets you might want to use 5% of your bankroll for each bet – or if placing many longer odds bets, you might want to use just 1% of your bankroll for each bet. Using this system will mean that your stakes will rise the more successful you are and lower the less successful you are. We recommend 1% staking in our tips and compound the profit after each day. The Aggressive Method After each betting day, divide your bank by 50 and this will be your new stake for the next day. This method gains profit so much quicker but it’s entirely up to you how you want to stake. The Fixed stake Method Decide upon a particular stake for each bet and stick to it – through thick and thin. This method has many advantages. Firstly it makes book keeping particularly easy, and it’s easy to work out if a particular system or series of bets is actually working. Secondly, each bet is completely independent, meaning that the outcome of another bet has no effect on this one. Finally, if you have an edge, you are much more likely to show a profit in the long run than when using any other system.

Nick Bradley

was a successful professional gambler for many years, who has taken what he has learned about the world of gambling to the bloodstock and racing industries. To date, horses bought by Nick have won twice at Group 1 level and he is most well known for buying G Force for £25,000 from the HIT Sale and winning the Group 1 Haydock Sprint Cup within 12 months. Nick started buying horses in 2009 and has amassed hundreds on victories on the track and has had huge success with Nick Bradley Racing. Despite the company being in just it’s third season on the track. Royal Ascot winners are very hard to come by but it took Nick just one season to get into the winner’s enclosure with Commissioned, trained by Gordon Elliott who won the Queen Alexandra in 2016. Commissioned was bought less than 2 months before Royal Ascot and landed a substantial gamble by Nick and the owners on the day. Commissioned wasn’t only significant success in the early years of Nick Bradley Racing with the likes of Vona winning the Marygate Listed race at York having been bought for just 15,000 Euros. Melesina won at Group and Listed level again having been bought for 22,000 a fraction of what she would be sold for at the end of 2017 when she made 400,000 in the ring. Doctor Phoenix epitomises what Nick Bradley Racing is all about, picked up for just £10,000 rated 140, he won on three occasions, picking up over £100,000 in prize money and looked like he was going to get the better of the 9 times Grade 1 winner Un de Sceaux before falling with the winning post in sight. Nick is keen to let the figures speak for themselves and as you can see from the numbers shown below, the results are impressive: In 2015 Nick Bradley spent £315,000 on Yearlings to race in 2016-17. They won 21 races, and have been sold/independently valued at £1,386,000 as of Jan 1st 2018. In 2016 Nick Bradley spent £832,000 on Yearlings to race in 2017-18. To date they have won 14 races, and have been sold/independently valued at £1,803,000 as of Jan 1st 2018.

NICK BRADLEY RACING RECORD TO DATE: 2016 18 Winners, £520,000 returned to owners in sales and prize money. •

30-year-old Dan has demonstrated time, and time again that he has the knock out ability of making money through Online Income Solutions. Dan has assisted so many people on a one-one basis in the art of making serious money online through cashing out free bets, which is very low risk however undoubtedly one of the fastest ways to make cash online. TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF? I’m 30 years old, and I’m the founder, I’ve been making a legitimate second income from home using mathematically profitable betting strategies. I’ve also worked as a semi-professional betting systems reviewer and project consultant to start-up companies in the betting industry. TELL US ABOUT YOUR BRAND? I’ve created Online Income Solutions to help coach people in the art of making money online. Without having to worry about getting scammed. Or end up wasting their time on techniques that require a lot of effort for very little reward. I only teach the strategies that I personally use because I know they work. The core focus is on cashing out the bookmakers’ free bets for a near instant profit. This is great way to build up a working bankroll without having to rely on the element of chance or dumb luck. You don’t even need to know anything about horse racing. Because by following my step-bystep process – you’ll know how much profit you’re going to make before you place your bets. WHAT MAKES YOUR BRAND DIFFERENT? I work with each student on a 1-to-1 basis to help them get the fundamentals of cashing out free bets nailed. Having been a member of all the major matched betting platforms over the years, it’s my opinion that this personal focus is lacking in just about all of them.

When done properly, cashing out free bets is very low risk and is undoubtedly one of the fastest ways to make money online. But mistakes can be costly. That’s why I’m happy to jump on Skype to explain things in more detail. And I’m on hand to answer all emails and forum questions from around 8am to 9pm – 7 days a week. The aim with Online Income Solutions is to teach people how to make money online independently and with confidence. WHAT ARE YOUR PACKAGES? We have two core products that show you how to make money online. 1: Bonus Sniper • The Bonus Sniper eLearning course and 1-to-1 mentoring programme hands you the tools, strategies and support that you’ll need to master the basics of cashing out the bookmakers’ welcome promotions for a profit. • Bonus Sniper normally costs £39.95 – but I’m currently offering lifetime access for just a single payment of £9.95 (which includes all future updates too). 2: The Bookmaker Blueprint • Once you’ve mastered the basics, you can begin cashing out the bookmakers’ free bets on your own. • Or, you can purchase The Bookmaker Blueprint. • And learn how to cash out up to £300 worth of free bets step-by-step – for just £9.95.

YOUR GUARANTEE? Both products are covered by our 100% money-back guarantee for 30-days. WHAT ARE YOUR AMBITIONS? To establish Online Income Solutions as the number one resource for making money online. This is an incredibly difficult niche to establish yourself in as a reputable brand. And it’s with good reason. Because I’ve been involved in the ‘make money online’ space since 2007. And the number of scams that I’ve come across is insane. Alarmingly, some of these dodgy products are touted as being legitimate by several ‘review’ style sites. I won’t mention any names, but I ended up losing close to £1,000 a few years ago when I bought a Betfair ‘trading’ product that was featured on a well-known review website. Only later did I realize that such articles are often packed with affiliate links and can’t always be trusted.

Tell us about yourself. I was born in mid wales. My father was a policeman and mother a teacher. I have always had a passion for horses from an early age. My first pony was one on loan from a trekking centre. I spent my childhood competing, show jumping and eventing. Along came my three lovely children and I took a break from horses.

How did the business start? I then owned point to pointers, had horses in training and one day decided to take out my own licence to train. I trained for twelve years from my home in Carmarthen, South Wales. During that period, I enjoyed much success as a trainer. Some of the horses include Maidstone Monument, Do it on Dani, Cleymor House,Il Penseroso, Rushneey River, Treaty Flyer, Dishdasha and Nortonthorpe Lad. I retired in 2012 but my interest in racing continued and to this day the racing post is visited daily. In my spare time I took a course in ceramics and thoroughly enjoyed working with clay. The majority of my pieces were horses and racing. It was a trip to the 21 Club in New York that gave me the idea of creating the modern-day lawn jockey. And here I am today turning them out like a Terracotta Army.

What price are your lawn jockeys ? There is only one standard jockey, but another will be produced in the next few weeks. The price is £495, and delivery can be discussed depending where you live. What makes your business, different to other’s? Whilst owning and training horses I frequently searched for personalised racing gifts. These would have looked great in my yard.

when Tomo placed the microphone in front of me I went weak! After that I took an awful lot of ‘stick’ about my welsh accent and I remained camera shy for quite some time! What is your favourite horse? My favourite horse of all time has to be Maidstone Monument my father’s horse. Bought for 500gns he went on to win 11 races and 19 placings. He loved the good to firm ground hence he spent a lot of time in the swimming pool!

How do you relax? Time to unwind is modelling with clay at the kitchen table. Sometimes I get carried away.

What is your ultimate aim? My aim is to produce a variety of personalised racing figures. Commissions are always considered.

What are your favourite silks? My favourite silks are those of my fathers who sadly passed away last year from prostate cancer. He was a true gentleman and was great company on many a journey to the races.

Most memorable moment in racing? My most memorable racing memory was not too long after I started training and Do it on Dani won a decent race in Market Rasen that was televised on Channel 4. Bearing in mind I had never been interviewed before

IN THE STABLES: AIMEE GEGG Interview by Jamie Lindsey So how did you get interested in the sport of kings, Aimee? A: I got interested in racing initially through a replay of the drama surrounding California Chromes 2014 Belmont defeat on Facebook. I started following American racing on Facebook and screenshots of twitter posts relating to racing news caused me to join twitter and that's where it all kicked off Twitter kicked it off. I love the community on the platform and it has allowed me to learn a lot and make friends and connections that have led to me where I am today. I think American Pharaoh winning the triple crown in my first year of properly following the sport made me the obsessive i am today. I didn't follow British racing until the end of 2015. I distinctly remember Sprinter Sacre's comeback win as my first NH race that had me interested and then Stormy Antarctic winning the Craven as the first British flat race that had me hooked. It’s amazing as I now get to work with Stormy at Ed Walkers. I never would have thought I would end up working with him! You came through the British racing school. It must have been a fantastic learning experience? Yes, I attended a 14-week course at the British Racing School this March - June. I had worked in racing as a yardie for Brian Barr Racing beforehand so I had some idea of what I was doing apart from the riding side. It was the best experience of my life, even if I broke my nose on a racing pony in week two. I got to ride some lovely horses such as Group 1 winner Kingsgate Native but my favourite rides were The Mighty Lohan and Grand Piano. While at the BRS I got places in the CRS Barn (Centre of Racehorse Studies) which is run by the BHA. I loved the high standards in that barn and seeing how they test the effects of certain things on racehorses. I was initially told by a few people I would never make it through racing school so to have graduated course 320 is a massive

"I told you so" A highlight of my time at racing school would have been getting to attend both the 2000 and 1000 guineas and hold boards for runners in each race. In the 2000 guineas I dived for Saxon Warriors board, not only was I betting on him to win, it is widely known I have a thing for Donnacha O'Brien so to be stood next to him left me very star struck. When they won I was over the moon!

You’ve worked for a couple of trainers, what is the best horse you’ve got the leg up on? I have worked for four trainers so far, back in 2015 I did work experience at Pond House with David Pipe, it was amazing I had the master himself Mr Martin Pipe teaching me so much. He would send me home each day with a lot of facts to remember and he would test me the next day. While there I got the leg up on a quiet horse called For N Against who I got to trot around, that was the first racehorse I had ever sat on. It is a beautiful yard and a really friendly place, I hope to return there someday when I can drive as it is a bit too far out in the sticks for me at the moment. My second trainer was Brian Barr at Tall Trees Stud, Longburton. I initially did a summers work experience and then returned home for school until I turned 18 where I dumped A-Levels and literally ran away in the middle of the night to join Brian as a paid employee. While there I led up in

my first race, Bohemian Rhapsody at Taunton. I led up a few horses at Brian's and even took BoRhap overnight racing at Southwell which was great fun. I always loved going racing. Brian and Daisy are funny and although I had a massive fall out with them when I left i do miss the yard. Unfortunately, the racing staffing shortage made things difficult there at times but when it was going well the yard was a great place to be. Brian and Daisy legged me up on Rocket Ronnie, Theatre Royal, Bohemian Rhapsody and Robin De Broome when I was there and taught me a lot. Brian Barr racing is great for getting horses that struggle to win to get wins, if anyone has a horse that has lost love with racing send it to them! There travelling head lass Jess always turns horses out beautifully at the races which is always nice. If you want to get a horse at Brian's but can’t afford a horse by yourself I really recommend joining Inspire Racing Club. My third trainer was after racing school where I joined Joseph Tuite in the holy mecca of Lambourn at Felstead Court. While I was there team Tuite was on fire. We had winners nearly every other day. We also won the Racing Welfare Staff Week competition where we got to name a race at Newbury racecourse and attend and choose best turned out. While there I rode Conkering Hero, Back the Boreen and Felstead Knight. Conkering Hero won a hattrick while I was riding him which made me very happy. I led up my first winner while working for Tuite. I took Surrey Blaze to Bath and he loved the fast ground and Finley Marsh gave him a peach of a ride. The owners Surrey Racing were attending that day and they all looked so splendid in their yellow and blue to match their silks. Unfortunately, I let myself down at Tuites, I loved the Lambourn 'Sesh' way too much for my own good, which made my riding weak and caused many arguments so I ended up leaving.

IN THE STABLES: AIMEE GEGG Interview by Jamie Lindsey My fourth and current job is at Kingsdown Stables with Ed Walker and I love it. It is by far the easiest and best job I have had so far. The horses are all kept in splendid condition and the operation works so smoothly. I was riding a real variety of horses which made it interesting. My favourites to ride would have to be Big Bad Lol and a filly called War No More. My profile picture on twitter @aimeegegg is me riding a 2yr old filly called Quicksilver up the famous Fishers Hill. Unfortunately a incident I witnessed on the gallops has meant I'm currently having a break from riding while I get stronger so I feel safer on the horses. I lost a close family member to horses so it really is for the best and the fact Ed cares for his staff and had a conversation with me meant a lot. However I love being a yardie here at the moment, a highlight would be taking one of the fillies to the Equine Water Treadmill at Magee Equine next door, its amazing the facilities Lambourn has to offer. All the horses at Ed's are very well bred, we have two Frankel colts Ginistrelli and the exciting Cap Francais who I know the members of Frankel Watch are very excited about. Our yard is immaculate and I would argue the prettiest yard in Lambourn , I thoroughly recommend people come visit us on the Lambourn Open day. What is your daily routine at Ed’s yard? Usually there are five lots, the riders don't muck out. The yardies muck out and then sweep the yard. I like to have all my boxes done before breakfast which is after 3rd lot then 4th lot I usually put out the evening feeds for all the horses on the main, house and fillies yard before doing odd jobs I get asked to do, this could include trotting up horses

for the vet, moving horse’s boxes or taking horses to the water treadmill. I usually sweep the yard fifth lot so I finish up as fifth lot ends. At evening stables, we have a row of horses to skip out and groom. Some days Ed looks round so we stand the horses while he checks them. The number of horses we skip out varies depending on how many staff we have in as some days we have no runners and other days we have many horses going racing or to barrier trials etc. What would you say is the most enjoyable aspect of your job? The most enjoyable aspect is seeing a horse you look after

or ride winning. Even if it’s a Class 5 or 6 a win is a win. Its makes the long cold hard days’ worth it. Aside from that it must be the cuddles. Racehorses are very soft due to their wellkept condition and most of them love attention. There are a few however I would rather not be in a stable with as their affection is more 'lovebites'. When I worked for Brian Barr I fell in love with Bohemian Rhapsody, I would take him for picks of grass in my lunchbreak and would clean my brushes every day and groom him first the next day so he would always look splendid. He is no longer

with Brian Barr but the Todds (His owners) provide me with updates on how he is doing as a point-to-pointer and I hope when he retires maybe one day I can take him on as my own horse. 8. Could you give any advice to anybody hoping to attain a job in a racing yard in the future? My best advice would be to gain work experience as a yardie, read the racing post, go to the gym and join the twitter racing community. Gain strength and knowledge of the game, have a taster of the long hours and low pay before applying to racing school. Both the BRS and NRC are good schools but the BRS is more highly regarded and has more facilities. However, both will get you a job, I know successful people from both colleges. You have visited many racecourses Aimee, do you have a particular favourite? I have visited many racecourses in a short space of time. Cheltenham has the best atmosphere and Ascot is by far the prettiest. However my favourite course has to be Newton Abbot, always a good days racing and you can move from the parade ring to the winning post with ease quickly. The jockeys and trainers are always easy to grab for an autograph or selfie and the Pork and stuffing baps there are heavenly. For stable staff the lead up is lovely and the stable staff canteen is known for being free and having the best food. My least favourite course must either be Lingfield or Kempton. The courses are cold, never much of a crowd and I don't like the way the stables are laid out. Cheltenham find the big race days too crowded to be enjoyable so usually settle myself down in the parade ring to photograph the horses and watch connections reactions.

KILLIAN HENNESSY Interview by Darren Connolly Killian Hennessy is without a doubt one of Ireland’s most improving young jockeys. Starting out in the Irish racing scene Ireland was always going to be a challenge, as the competition is fierce, to be precise it would tame lions however Hennessy is regularly demonstrating his ability in the saddle at any given opportunity. How did you get into horse racing? I had a love of horses from a very young age, but primarily show-jumping and hunting. I started riding out point to pointers for our local farrier and he organized for me to go to Jim Bolger’s for a summer. After a few weeks, there I was hooked What does your general day consist of? On a typical day, I’ll get up at half 7, have a cup of coffee and head straight into Stacks which is just down the road from me. Usually have 5 lots there, be finished by 1:00 then head over to Fethard and ride work for a few local trainers. On days, there’s no racing I would be home by 5, cook a light dinner and head into the gym around 7. Being quite tall for a jockey I always must watch my weight, so I find keeping to a routine like this makes it much easier. You have been riding in England a lot last season how was that for you? And do you feel the difference in races over there compare to Ireland? I enjoyed my spell in England, but I found the traveling to be the hardest thing of all. There’s obviously a lot less racing over here but the prize money is far better and if you can get going at all you’re far better off over in Ireland.. What is your advice for a young jockey starting out? I bought a simulator early this year and I feel it’s brought me on leaps and bounds. If you can get access to one or buy your own they are definitely a huge help to perfect your riding. Is it getting tougher for young jockeys to get there name out there? Definitely. Most trainers nowadays have their own jockeys so without backing from a well-known trainer/owner, it’s extremely hard to get rides. Besides working hard, you need a lot of luck! Favourite Horse Racing memory Winning on Fulminata at the Listowel festival for Jim Bolger. Huge crowds were there and was a great buzz!. Favourite racecourse Leopardstown is my favourite racecourse

What is your main aim this season? My aim for the season is to stay injury free and get as many winners as possible. I am prepared to put in the work to get the results.

I’m in my late forties, live out in the countryside in a small village in Hampshire. Married to the most understanding and gorgeous woman in the world and we have a great companion, our 3 year old working cocker spaniel Poppy. How did you get interested in punting/racing? Been interested in racing from an early age, having been brought up in Epsom. Lucky to have relaxed parents who used to allow me time off school to attend the Derby when it was traditionally held on a Wednesday. I ventured into ownership with my first horse back in 2000 with the then trainer, breeder and owner Mr Peter W Harris. Having the opportunity to see my horse make its debut at a Goodwood was a fantastic experience. A close finishing second was such a thrill. From then on, I was hooked. Tell us about your brand? Our brand is simple, to provide a proactive and engaging platform to allow people with an interest in racehorse ownership the opportunity to connect with organisations within the industry that can make ownership a reality for them. What sets you apart from your competitors? Having 20 years of experience not only as an owner

but also as a Partnership Manager for a number of syndicates including the late Walter Swinburn has taught us the trials and tribulations of race horse ownership. We have been lucky enough to forge long term relationships with literally hundreds of existing and potential new owners looking to increase their ownership and involvement. We are rolling out this facility initially to the UK and Ireland but over the coming months, we will be able to offer the opportunity to reach our audiences in North America, Australia and the Middle East. SMALLER TRAINERS NEED HELP Feature by Darren Connolly

Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out. There is no debating that the smaller stables in Ireland are financially struggling, some not even breaking even.

The smaller stables don’t stand a chance or the abundance of staff nor the ammunition of well-bred thoroughbreds, nevertheless they are still as hungry for success at any given occasion however they are getting few and far between.
