According to the use of the space, different type of roof with varying heights are used. Pooja hall has the highest roof level to provide proper ventilation and outlet of warm air and smoke while conducting hawan. This space, further can also extend towards huge balcony by keeping the sliding and folding door widely open. Double heighted living room gives grand feeling to the space and has half mezzanine floor gym above it. The gym has view towards swimming pool, landscape area and living room so that one feels connected to nature while working out. Gym have 12ft. high ceiling so that one doesn’t feel suffocated by warm air around. The glass window facing towards living room is one sided view glass from gym, providing privacy while at the same time allows the person in gym to keep track of visitors coming to house.

• Several people in the world cannot afford schools with all the facilities for their kids due to their financial status. So we are coming up with a proposal of the State of Art - Model Residential School for the fulfilling the need of good education along with all the facilities for students to hone their skills. • As School education must focus on the aspects, which contribute immensely to the development of the young minds as they step into adulthood in mental , social and physical aspects . • So to fulfill this aspects we have categorized the State of Art - Model Residential School in three zones : 1. Academic zone 2. Residential zone 3. Sports and Extra curricular zone

FRONT FACADE RESTAURANT AND HOTEL TYPE: COMMERCIAL SITE: BHOJOGHARI, GANGTOK TEAM: BUILDING SPACE AND DESIGN
28
DESIGN APPROACH • The client wanted to have the clear picture of the front elevation with modern touch to it. • The construction of the building was already taking place and thus, restricting our design freedom. • Wall claddings of Stone and ACP sheet, Cement plastered louvres, Steel pipes and aluminium struts are used as design elements. • Inverted V shaped cement plastered projection is placed on top to give illusion of pitched roof.
29
29
FRONT FACADE RESTAURANT AND HOTEL TYPE: COMMERCIAL SITE: SICHEY, GANGTOK
30
DESIGN APPROACH • The client wanted front facade design for this Hotel with a traditional Sikkimese touch to it. • As can be seen in photo, the building was already constructed and this limited our design freedom to a very great extent. For this building front facade we have used stone wall cladding, ACP sheet, steel truss and GI sheet. • Left side of the building had corner window at the top most floor whereas other floor had toilet at that location. Thus, it was not possible to give windows there therefore, Sikkimese Igra design was used to give illusion of corner windows. • Uneven sloped pitched roof was used for porch inorder to match with building roof and also to break the boring uniformity from its uneven slope. • Sikkimese columns were used to support the roof to cover the porch, adding to its traditional touch.
