First Stage of the series: Articulation. Two stripes of structure, regular and irregular, combine together to create a short alley in between. The small piece of metal in the corner maintains the directionality of the cuboid unit, which tell where the mirror is.

Water Mirror Second Stage of the series: Space. The cuboid unit in the first stage is widened to fit the human scale. Along with glasses, mirrors are used in the structure as surface, which makes the method of reflection more evident.

Two units connected by stairs.

More units combined together, becoming a tunnel with visual penetration.

8

Build a network between tunnels. Put half of the structure into water.

Concept This site is located between a big street and a small street, which is common in Tainan city. The strategy is making connection between two streets. Therefore, a long gallery with the section of 36 square metres penetrates through the building, allowing art & design to support from beside and costumers to come from downside.

Concept Started from students’ activity, the floor layout can be saperated to three hierarchies: “private”, “semi-private” and “public”. Different from traditional dormitory, the public space infiltrate into every living unit in the building, which makes interaction happen.

The dislocation of the L-shape living units create the uneven elevation and greenbelt in between.

Come Calm

30

Concept The religious space should be sacred but also friendly, just like God is full of power and love. So the church is divine and approachable at the same time. Penetration is allowed at ground level, leading people come inside to calm their mind. The light comes from above the cave, down to every level, end up on the water.
