Fast track to first officer By leading companies in professional flight training

Continuous approach to first officer training

First officer certification: No holding pattern Demand for commercial airline pilots is projected to grow at an explosive rate over the next 20 years. 43 Air School and The Boeing Company – leaders in professional flight training – offer their combined experience and expertise to provide an integrated training solution that will help your airline successfully implement its growth plans. Our integrated training solution avoids gaps and eliminates redundancies that can prolong ad hoc training methods and increase training costs. From first flight to type-rated first officers Our training solution is designed for first officer candidates with no flying experience. Candidates progress seamlessly through the three phases of professional training: from initial single-engine and multi-engine engine certification, through an orientation to jet operations, to a type rating on a commercial jetliner. Program graduates will be ready to assume the right seat on the flight deck and take control of your airplanes. Your airline can commence utilization of your new airplanes on the day of delivery.

Authorities on quality and safety 43 Air School and Boeing share a commitment to maintain and enhance aviation safety in Africa and around the world through high-quality professional training. 43 Air School has been conducting career pilot training for more than 20 years and has completed in excess of 500,000 hours of flight training for more than 5,000 individuals. Boeing Flight Services brings the expertise and resources of The Boeing Company – the world’s largest aerospace company and leading manufacturer of commercial jetliners and defense, space, and security systems – to its training products and services.

The first step toward first officer certification Phase 1 of our Africa-focused first officer training program is conducted at 43 Air School’s facility at Port Alfred, South Africa. Graduates of this Integrated ATPL course will hold a Multi-Engine CPL/IR license with ATPL theoretical knowledge credits. The course length averages 54 weeks. 43 Air School training recognizes the special flying conditions of Africa, including climate, terrain, and airport infrastructure. The school provides an inclusive environment that is mindful of different cultures and languages, and the needs of individual students.

The second step to jet operations Phase 2 continues with the Boeing Flight Services’ Jet Bridge program at one of Boeing’s 19 Flight Services campuses. Designed specifically for pilots with little or no experience flying jet airplanes, phase 2 prepares pilots for the commercial jet environment and entry into a jet type rating course. Training hones specific commercial airplane flying skills through instructor-led sessions in a full-flight simulator, ground school, and flight training devices. Among the topics covered are highaltitude aerodynamics and wing design, introduction to jet engines, fuel requirements, flight controls, weight and balance, takeoff and landing performance, flight deck systems, EFIS navigation, charts, and emergency operations.

The third step onto the commercial flight deck Phase 3 advances graduates of the first two phases to the ground school and simulator training that leads to a type rating in either a Boeing Next-Generation 737 jet or an Airbus A320. Ground school uses a tailored combination of computer-based training and classroom instruction to help pilots master airplane systems, systems integration, and procedures. Crucial flight deck skills, including flight check and flight maneuvers, are covered in full-flight simulators.

43 Air School professional pilot training 43 Air School is one of the largest and most respected flight training establishments in Africa, with courses approved by the South African Civil Aviation Authority. The school operates out of facilities in Port Alfred, Bhisho, and Lanseria in South Africa, with a staff of more than 300 people. It has the right environment, equipment, and experienced personnel to ensure quality training on a consistent basis. Its 70 flight instructors have more than 200,000 hours of experience between them. A seasoned team of standards instructors helps to ensure that all instructors maintain the school’s high operational requirements. The school’s Integrated Airline Transport Pilot License (iATPL) course provides a combined program of ground school training and flight training. It can be completed in much less time than a traditional modular course, providing skills are demonstrated in a follow-up exam. 43 Air School’s rich history began in 1942 when it opened as part of the Joint Air Training Scheme during World War II. Approximately 100 aircraft were used to train navigators, bomb aimers, and gunners. In 1988, buildings were renovated and the new 43 Air School was established. Today, the school is a dedicated fixed-wing and helicopter flight training organization, serving the private, general commercial, airline, and military sectors.
