凝視生活的林家弘 ABOUT CHIA-HUNG LIN I was born in 1984, Taiwan, a country where conserves multiple cultures. After graduating from the Department of Fine Arts, I put into full-time creation. So far, I have been taking easel painting as the main form of creation, and its theme is mostly based on cartoonized portraits to express my feelings, experiences and thoughts on life, and extend it into some sculpture works. As a father, this role also gives me a lot of inspiration in my creation. 2008-2017, my artworks were frequently exhibited in Asia including Taipei, Shanghai, Bejing, and Seoul. Besides, they are collected by museums and private institutes and a wide range of collectors in Asia own them. Since 2017, I have started exploring and creating art in America and Europe, and so far I have been to Austria, Italy, and southern France.

MY EXPECTATIONS In 2018, when I visited Boston and New York City, I had deeply fallen in love with NYC's artistic atmospheres and truly hope there is a chance for me to work with your gallery to hold a solo exhibition. If that happens, my collectors in Asia would pay for some of its expenses and marketing. Here attached is the files of my works, and I'd like to know if it's possible for us to have a further discussion on the solo exhibition.

2017-2018 Europe In the past, I always thought of the issues of cultures when I created art. I grew up with the Japanese cartoons and comics along with the influence of American heroism without much attention on my own Chinese culture, on the other hand. When I was in Europe, I had deep understanding of the culture issues. A great city is built on its art and culture. In Vienna, the heritage of Beethoven and Mozart can be seen everywhere as well as the artworks of Gustav Klimt and Egon Schiele. In Florence, the glory of the Renaissance is everywhere. In Milan, the church built over 500 years ago has witnessed the path of history of many nations. Under the influence of those city cultures, gradually I have tried different aspects in my creations. No matter the scale of a city, church is often the heart of it. Compared to the city, the unrepaired strokes of the church murals in the country have inspired me more on the track of time.

2018-2019 New York The diversity of New York has definitely made it one of the centers of fashion and culture in the world. I love to wander around the streets because there are always surprises await. The entire city is like a living museum, and yet instead of the art galleries and museums here and there, I love the charm of street graffiti and the vitality of the city. The paradox is that I hope my work could be exhibited in MOMA someday which is my dream for my whole life of creation. In Big Apple, you can always feel hope, passion and opportunities.

Endless possibilities During my stay in New York, my favorite thing was lingering around as many streets and sorts of stores as possible for they are full of artistic atmospheres. Besides, I used to hang out a lot at the subway stations such as Bushwick, Jefferson, Morgan, Williamsburg, Bedford, and so on for the same reason. In addition, I often visited the artists' studios in Dumbo district. Although I set the previous creative footprints in several major cities in Europe, after coming to New York, what I saw and heard here made me excited and brought great impact to me. Every day there is always something new or fresh in NYC. I would keep trying to enrich my creative career by looking for more creative opportunities in such a city full of endless possibilities.

My creation I like the art of graffiti, especially the free style of Basquiat. I am also fond of Mark Bradford for his unconventional creative drawings. In my creation, I do not fully use traditional painting media to create, so beyond that I frequently enjoy exploring on different industrial occasions e.g. the industrial factories, construction sites, and hardware stores to find more interesting possibilities.
