Vision for the Spoorzone (railway zone) in Dordrecht. This includes the development areas Maasterras, Spuiboulevard, station area Dordrecht Central, Leerpark (Learning Park) and Health Park. Development vision for 6000 homes, commercial spaces, amenities, parks and stations.

The rail infrastructure does not seem to be the most obvious place for the development assignment of approximately 6,000 homes and facilities. It currently constitutes a barrier in the city with noise and safety challenges arising from freight transport. The vision transforms the railway into a pleasant destination and connects existing neighbourhoods to new city districts with spectacular green areas.

The urban renovation area

Current situation Current situation Current situation New situation New situation

Weizigtpark has changed shape several times in recent decades. Station is barely visible from the park. Station has a blocking effect in the urban fabric. New proposed interventions make the park reach the city side of the station for the first time. By intervening in the philosophy of the landscape garden, the station becomes an important line of sight in the park.

Station as a link in the city

The unique circumstance of the station directly adjacent to the city park provides a very attractive perspective: extending the Weizigtpark to the other side of the track. A wide, green connection over the tracks creates a flowing connection between the park and the station, but also between the park and the city center. A connection that emphatically gives Dordrecht station its own face and provides a unique public residential area. New situation

Station becomes a vital part of the connections between north and south.

Render-Maasterras

A place where families and first-time-buyers can find a home close to work, amenities, culture, with good accessibility by rail and water. The new residential areas will be built entirely from wood sourced from production forests on the island. This is one of the examples of strengthening a local and sustainable economy. Render- Dordrecht Station

Dordrecht Central Station will be the greenest station in the Netherlands and on the Oude Maas river, people will live 'with their feet in the water' in a car-free mixed-use neighbourhood.
