Gardens are meant to be explored! Here the generous use of Decomposed Granite paths lead to various outbuildings lined with low water use, Mediterranean plant material. The lavender is a great habitat plant for the bees.

Asclepia are a critical habitat plant for Monarch Butterflies! We typically plant several plants on each project to provide habitat for this majestic species. Letting plants go to seed is an important part of the plant life cycle as flowers nourish the pollinators and later the seeds feed the birds. Friday, December 18, 15

Monarch on Aster!
There is hardly a day when I do not see butterflies in the garden. Asters provide late season sustenance to a wide range of pollinators. At the base of this photo was an Ascelpia with a Monarch Caterpillar.
