“You feel a certain way in a glass or concrete or limestone building. It has an effect on your skin - the same with plywood or veneer, or solid timber. Wood doesn't steal energy from your body the way glass and concrete steal heat. When it's hot, a wood house feels cooler than a concrete one, and when it's cold, the other way around.” -Peter Zumthor 02
This project is located at Parramatta CBD. Parramatta is the second largest city center in Sydney. In addition to the local population, the Number of Chinese in the Parramatta area is the largest, followed by Indian and Lebanese residents. Its population is expected to grow by about 40 per cent over the next 20 years. This design will be the first alltimber tall building in the heart of Parramatta. It will have two primary uses. First, a vertical campus building for a major university, and second, an innovative and flexible commercial office. Beyond its services to the students, the tertiary education provider and its commercial tenants, the space that the building defines on the street needs to have prominence and relevance for the public in general. The ambition is that it will become part of the university and part of the city at the same time – be open, inclusive, flexible and welcoming. There are two main points in this design. The first is the combination of architecture and urban public space. Since the north side of the base is a large area of public green open space and retains the historical building relics, the combination of architecture and urban public space is particularly important. The second is cooperation and communication, which is also one of the contents of the research period.

Research_Loss of interaciton&collaboration
Steve Jobs believed that, “If a building doesn’t encourage collaboration, you’ll lose a lot of innovation and the magic that’s sparked by serendipity.” 50% residents in Parramatta would like some or more interaction with people in their neighbourhoods. Therefore, the building should be a place which promotes collaboration for students and office workers as well as provides interaction spaces for the public.

Opportunities and constraints are concluded after research of the site: Is there an opportunity to incorporate heritage? How can this site become an meeting point and civic place? How could the building complement nature and its neighbouring context? How can we maximise solar access through building envelope to reduce energy consumption? How can the site encourage mass transit over private transport? How can we active the ground level and public space?

The traditional campus space is usually composed of transportation space and teaching space, which lacks the space for users to cooperate and communicate. So in the design of campus in the module, I adopted three methods provided the space of the cooperation and communication of people: first, to increase the width of the corridor, communication usually exists in people congregate, so for the campus, the students waiting period before the class is the best opportunity to exchange collision, thus increasing the width of the corridor and attach a desk and chair is between the intangible increases the chances of communication between the students; Second, all classrooms are equipped with push-pull walls, which can close the space when quiet is needed. Third, create an atrium in the middle of the module to attract passers-by to stay.

A Shared workspace on the first floor of the office module is a good way to cut costs for a group of start-ups, selfemployed and freelancers, as rental costs are the biggest concern in the early days. The benefits of co-working Space include flexible leases, complete facilities and a comfortable working environment. Because of the open design of the space, people from all walks of life can also exchange experiences and expand their personal networks. The rest is office space for small companies that can be rented out.

In terms of building materials, most of the materials are composed of GLT and CLT, among which the main load-bearing structures such as columns, beams and diagonal bracing are composed of GLT, the walls and floors are composed of CLT, which are customized by manufacturers and transported to the site for installation, and the underground part and core tube are composed of reinforced concrete. Due to the abundant sunshine in Sydney, there will be western sun exposure on the west side in summer. Therefore, lateral horizontal and vertical shading elements are installed on the north side and the west side of the curtain wall respectively, and the external metal perforated panels are combined to form the facade. It is worth mentioning that the shading components on the ground floor are treated anti-corrosion wooden boards randomly distributed in Grasshopper as the shading components. Users of this building and Parramatta residents can make the components in fablabs and install them by themselves, so as to leave their own memories.

This project is located at inner-city Sydney suburb of Chippendale, contained a contains an existing three-storey converted warehouse (63 Myrtle St) that must be retained and adapted for re-use and a single-storey child-care centre (60 Pine St) that can be demolished. The design intends to do more than an innovation, it tries to explore the relationship between the peace park, which located at the North area of the site, old warehouse and new park. And finally, the pin point became to be the old warehouse, the design tends to present the extension concept through utilising the it as the connection between the peace park and the new part, which is equal to extend the public peace park through the commercial kitchen at the ground floor in the old warehouse to the community kitchen & shop at the ground floor of the new part. Other than finding this connection from the north, it can also be considered as a "surprise path" from the south of the site, only the person who walk through the path between the Art Center and our building can catch the chance to appreciate that. For the residents in Chippendale, this path could contain more feekings about history of this area. The commercial kitchen is for all visiters to the site, people can sit inside and enjoy the green view of peace park. The community kitchen is set for the residents and people who love cooking. The co-working space is open 24/7 at the first floor and the second floor.

The design is intended to connect the park, the old building and the new building on the north side of the site as a whole. The park on the north side is a memory of the people who lived in Chippendale, so the connection also combines the different creations of different times and reactivates the area by different functions, setting different functions to provide space for different groups of people.

The structure form is derive from the arch crossings over the old warehouse window. During the construction period of that kind of arches, a piece of wood shape panel needs to be placed and support the up layer bricks and it would be taken away after up layer finished. So the new part building take the arch form and make it become the main structure part.

As for the material, timber became the first choice as a result of its low embodied energy, renewability and perfect insulated character. For the columns, flexible Glulam had been chosen because it can be produced in different shapes and curvatures. And for the floor, roof, and walls, CLT was chosen to be used because the glued angle at 90 degrees to the layer above and below offers itself better strength in both directions. 29

The Powerhouse Museum is the major branch of the Museum of Applied Arts & Sciences in Sydney. It houses a number of unique exhibits including the oldest operational rotative steam engine in the world, the Whitbread Engine. Dating from 1785, it is one of only a handful remaining that was built by Boulton and Watt and was acquired from Whitbread's London Brewery in 1888.Another important exhibit is Locomotive No. 1, the fi rst steam locomotive to haul a passenger train in New South Wales, built by Robert Stephenson & Company in 1854. The most popular exhibit is arguably "The Strasburg Clock Model", built in 1887 by a 25-year-old Sydney watchmaker named Richard Smith. Parramatta is a prominent suburb of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia, 20 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district on the banks of the Parramatta River. Parramatta is the administrative seat of the City of Parramatta and is often regarded as the second Central Business District of Sydney. Parramatta is known as the 'River City' as the Parramatta River flows through the Parramatta CBD. Its foreshore features a playground, seating, picnic tables and pathways that are increasingly popular with residents, visitors and CBD workers.

Design concept is derived from the design of the dynamic variety of museum exhibits different s, put into use from the first industrial revolution of the steam engine, to all sorts of equipment, after to trains, planes, is conducted on the basis of predecessors' invention improvement or it would not have been processed to create the back of the development, such as known as watt is transforming the steam engine, rather than created from scratch. Therefore, while designing the building, I also planned a streamline of the exhibition. The sequence of the exhibition is from the bottom floor to the top floor according to the chronology of the exhibits. I hope that participants can also stand on the shoulders of giants to see further.

Urban population keeps growing, cities keep expanding. Sharing has become the most common phenomenon in people's daily life. There sources of big cities attract people to come in an endless stream, while the twochild policy also promotes the further increase of population. Due to the decreased land in the downtown, cities have to expand to accommodate the surplus population, which also results in more population. The rapid pace of contemporary society has changed people's living habits. Takeout has become the first choice for people to eat. The kitchen has gradually become a decoration. Since 2015, the concept of sharing has become popular in China. Based on the concept of sharing, this design "takes" people's kitchen out and forms a Shared kitchen together. If FOOD BUBBLE is set up here, residents can turn their kitchens into a bedroom for the second child or sublease it. In this way, there is no need to change for another house, which is conducive to slowing the city's expansion rate. We make arrangements for FOOD BUBBLE by taking Wangjing as an example, which is located at the junction of the Fourth Ring and the Fifth Ring in the northeast of Beijing. It is not only for resident, but also a comprehensive area with the functions of culture and entertainment, education and office. Among all residents, entertainers, business managers, staff in foreign enterprises, lawyers, doctors, journalists and foreigners are in the majority, and the proportion of the middle class is pretty large, who are becoming younger in average age obviously.

It takes maze as the prototype, with a high center and low surroundings, which is convenient for parents to observe their children from outside. Children can enjoy themselves, and the elderly can also dance in the open air in free style.

The site is located in the new development zone of the city. On the north side, Pu River meanders. Many universities around here add a cultural atmosphere to the region. I think the museum has a magical power. The knowledge in this place is fresh and out of touch with the school. Childhood dreams may sprout when visiting museumsAir and Space Museum is different from the traditional museum because of its high-tech meaning, so in this design, I chose the curve shape, which not only fits the theme of the museum, but also integrates the surrounding environment. The design is inspired by the trajectory of aerobatics. In the process of extracting tracks and converting them continuously, beautiful lines are obtained to create architectural forms. The streamline body of museum and the landscape around not only echo the theme of the space museum, but also harmonize with the meandering Pu River and the curve shaped Heping Park on the other side of the river. In the actual war, some pilots have superb skills, and the special movements that they unintentionally fly are the beginning of stunt flying. Flying is the cause of the brave. The human has never stopped the pace of the ultimate challenge. Similarly, the dream will not stop. Let us dream of wings, triumph in the sky and look at the arc drawn by it in the air.

The hutongs of Beijing are the veins of the city and the thoroughfares for traffic. Moreover, they are the site where the ordinary people live and the important arena of historic and cultural evolution and development. At the first glance, they are almost the same, built by gray walls and gray tiles. In fact, this is not the case. As long as you visit a hutong and chat with the old tenants, you'll find that they all have their own stories. By recording the changes of history and the style of the times, the hutongs contained a strong cultural atmosphere and marked the imprint of all kinds of social life like a folk custom museum.Dongsi District where the design site is located has gone through seven hundred years of changes, but the overall pattern remains unchanged. On both sides of the street and alleys, there are old shops. When people walk in the streets and alleys, it seems that they pass through the time tunnel and go back to the ancient times. As a link connecting countless history, the Zhang Zi-zhong Road on the south side of the hutong witnessed the extravagant life of the royal family and clansmen, the glory and prosperity, the ministers and generals, painting calligraphy works of poets and literary men, honors and disgraces of the modern warlord generals, and the stories of rich merchants.

A big family used to live in a big house named Siheyuan together. Siheyuan has been divided to several parts to recommend more residents who come from everywhere. Rooms with different functions spiral around the courtyard. The working space is arranged along the north side of the area with more people flow. Transform the small courtyard in the traditional courtyard house that plays the role of communication into the roof platform in the design. The big courtyard in the middle of the traditional courtyard house is introduced to the design and is transformed into a small courtyard in the middle of the building, which not only enriches the internal environment, but also makes up for the lack of trees on the road. The shape of the main entrance of the building is consistent with the traditional courtyard house.
