PORTFOLIO The Door
2018 Fall in EA7 Gray Studio -HsuanMin Chen-
The Door The field I chose was an old door. The door is one which between the A space and B space, and as a channel, he is usually just a medium that is easily overlooked. According to Peter Zumthor's menon in the Space Atmosphere, his descripon in the book focuses on the appearance of the space in memory. Every small object is one of the important factors affecng the spaal paern. Such as a tasteful kitchen, reminds him of his grandmother's cooking. Or a corner of a house, or just a window full of traces, or a door. Objects in space affect people's percepons, which in turn affects the atmosphere. By observing these things, people can recognize the appearance of being in space. Passing an old door is like a ceremony. Liing the foot, holding the doorknob, crossing, passing, etc., through the body, interact with the door, and go to the two spaces before and aer the connecon. The door is no longer an excessive band for me, but a space c. The process of passing can be recorded and amplified.

Observation The Door acts as an interface between the two spaces. In the space atmosphere of Peter Zumthor, it menoned about the relaonship between objects and the space. 02
Attchment An old door, the dust deposited on the window, the water stain le by the person passing the door, the wear of the handle due to the residue of the grease, or the hysteresis caused by the rotaon. Traces are recorded over me, and each pass has an effect on the door. It is called scky. These traces indicate the external forces, nature or the relaonship between human and the door. I am trying to draw a conceptual map of these phenomena. And express them with a recorder. 03
Traces Machine The traces of the door change, like an organ, passing through the door like a device that moves through it. Handles, thresholds, etc.

Traces on Doorknob 05
The grease on the human hand stays on the door handle over me, scratching the metal on the door, and again and again, the smooth metal material gradually becomes rusty, peeling o, and leaving traces of the hand, layer by layer.
Traces on Windows Dusts on the window due to the angle of light entering the room. Range of dust deposion is different. Dusts on the windows are le near the edge influence the light more to get into inside. When the sunlight hits the translucent glass, the refracon will enter the room. The degree of light is affected. The more dust makes it possible to enter the room, the less light it appears.
Relationship between Body and the Door The movements and scales of the body affect the way people form through the door. These paerns vary from person to person. The height of the person, the width of the arm, the length of the foot, the size of the step, and so on. Or the acvies that occur at the door, such as leaning against the door panel, or resng on the threshold, are the links between the door and the door. These relaonships will be read again on the door.
06
Shaped
The body touches and presses around the door, and the applied force reshapes the shape of the mouth.
07
Weight of door
The space behind the line pulls the edge of the mouth, and the door feeds back the force of the person from the inside out.
Body Scale
The relaonship between the body scale and the door, the height of doorknob, the width of the foot and the threshold
Space compression
The space by two sides are squeezed and scaled through the interface of the door
Perspective
The sight through the translucent glass, deepening the depth of the space
Air Exchange
When person enters the space to replace the original posion, the internal air is squeezed and exchanged.
08
Material Using so materials and use the way of weaving. Reshape the imaginaon of the door. There are three kinds of weaving methods, which represent different concepts. The woven space has a covering and an opening. The coon rope is flexible, allowing the space to be freely deformed, and the acon occurring on the door is recorded on this material.

The Door As a Film In front of the door of the old house, there is a slender corridor. At the end of the corridor is a door with a height of 250 and a width of 200 cm. There is a threshold of 30 cm in front. There are certain steps in the way home, walking through the porch, liing the foot, pushing the door, stepping, etc. Walking across the door to the indoor foyer is like a ceremony. The door is like a membrane, and the body is squeezed and changed to penetrate.

Concept Model
Concept model operaonal changes, simulated operaons in 3D models. The general space of the caves is interspersed with each other to achieve a complex spaal paern, like a maze.

Body Postures The various limbs of the body, sing or lying, represent all the movements of the person around the door frame, and the interacon between the two. 11

Security of the door Security is one of all the features of the door. Block wind and rain and protect people's safety. Only the person holding the key can pass. Like a maze, you need to go through the special way - the body's limbs, such as bending over, to reach the B space.

Door Recorder The traces le by the person on the door, the touch of the hand, the dust on the foot, all the residue will be recorded on the door, and the recorder of the door will change over me and never stop.

The model is fixed by means of weaving and by elasc rope. When you are stressed, the shape will change. The shape will change constantly under the me, which symbolizes the process of people being constantly contaminated and leaving traces on the way through the door.

The Net Door Usually the door is used to pass, I am trying to make a door that is difficult to penetrate past. Like the fishing net, one layer are aached by another, and the circular cladding space is difficult to escape the A space, and can only be pushed open and crossed to reach B.
