Celina Special Olympics

Celina ISD currently has 35 Bobcat athletes on the Special Olympics' Team, and this includes athletes from kindergarten through high school. The athletes compete in four areas throughout the year, Bocce, Bowling, Basketball and Track & Field. In January, the athletes competed in basketball. For this sport, the athletes compete in three skills such as dribbling, passing and shooting. The practices are typically during the school day. We have high hopes that Celina will qualify and participate in the area and State competitions in the next couple of years.

Each campus does a send off for their Special Olympic athletes like they would for any other champion Bobcat!

Each year, more and more staff and families are wearing our fundraising spirit shirts for our competition days. We've hosted our first fundraiser to help provide future support for our athletes' travels, food and competition needs, and we collected almost $300 this Spring. We were truly honored by the Celina Quarterback Club, who were able to support us with team uniforms for our secondary students to travel in true Bobcat form to our competitions this year. In addition, Celina Junior High and Dicks Sporting Goods have helped support us with a huge financial foundation by donating a portion of their contest winnings to our Special Olympics program. This Bobcat family is full of caring, loving and supportive individuals that make it home. Thank you, to each and every Bobcat Heart out there!
